Ever wonder what Frasier meant by counterbalance?
Central Queen Anne is known as the Counterbalance (Queen Anne Avenue North from Roy to Galer streets), so called because an actual counterbalance was used to get trolleys up the south side of the Hill in the 1890's.

glad to see yah here Pat - been awhile!
that's a pretty steep hill, hard to believe a trolley could even make it up there - but I had never heard it referred to as "the Counterbalance" when I lived there

Robyrob!!! It has been a long time! Hope you have been doing well. I'm laid up with a broken ankle, so I thought I would sit back and watch some episodes of Frasier.

Queen Anne is awesome! I should go there and see if there really is an Elliot Bay Towers! I've been there tons of times. Very cool place to visit if you're ever in Seattle!

Check out my post "Oh Cafe Nervosa, where are ye???" recently posted. It is discussed. In the extras on the first season box set, the producers say that the photo for Frasier's apartment was taken by a group of men they had scale a cliff on Queen Anne.

It's been a long time since I've watched S1 and I'm hoping to get it soon as a gift (I've been dropping lots of hints!), so I'll be sure and watch the extras again. As I remember there were some good ones!
Season One used to be my favorite, but I think season 7 is. That's the season when Daphne finds out about Niles' feelings and Niles about her feelings for him.
