New Utrecht High School is a coeducational public high school in Brooklyn, New York City, serving 2,383 pupils. It is part of New York City Region 7. The front and rear views of the school building were employed in opening scenes of the popular TV sitcom Welcome Back, Kotter - which starred alumnus Gabe Kaplan

New Utrecht High School doesn't exactly have a prestigious reputation.
I went to high school from '99-'03 and heard a lot of bad things from that school; stabbings, kids wuth guns, drugs, gang violence...
Believe me, the kids that go there today don't care that it was used for some '70s sitcom. I bet they don't even know what "Welcome Back, Kotter" is.
