Which do you like better, the Hollywood/California season or the Europe season??

The Hollywood episodes, especially the ones with Harpo Marx and William Holden.

I liked both. I'll go with Europe, though, because I've seen the Hollywood episodes sooo many more times. They seem to air them on TV all the time.

My very favorite is the Hollywood trip I never get tired of seeing them. Makes me wish that the old Hollywood still existed. If I were rich I'd bring back the Brown Derby and restore it to its former glory but include the new stars as well as the legends on the walls.

I think I liked the Hollywood trip just a little better, but it's still very close. When they went to Hollywood they had so many legends guest starring. And I agree with comedyfreak about old time Hollywood. Today's Hollywood and celebs just don't have what it takes to live up to the legends.

I agree with this so much - Hallmark airs the Hollywood episodes so many more times than the Europe episodes so I'm glad when I catch a glimpse of the latter. And the Europe episodes seem a little more fun even though there isn't much "travel-time."

I go with the Europe epidsodes here because I don't really care for big-name celebrities in the episodes. In developing the show, one of the best things they did was to make Ricky and Lucy a more average couple instead of being rich and well-known. Fratranizing with Hollywood celebs, as well as living in a hotel suite paid for by the studio, takes away from that original format. In the Europe episodes, even though it is a show business tour, nearly all of what we see is American tourists in the difficulties of travel, differing cultures and languages, coupled with the familiar eccentricities of character among the cast. It's easier to relate to that than to blackmailing the bellboy into giving his uniform to sneak into Cornell Wilde's room or stealing John Wayne's footprints and getting him personally to make new ones.

I love both of these story arcs very much, but I have to chose Hollywood over Europe because of the centralized setting. I love the set used for the hotel suite.

:) I Like the Hollywood ones better. I thought it was funny seeing Lucy tangle with all the celebrities she met. I liked the Harpo episode because Harpo got to play his harp, and I liked the scene where Lucy and Harpo were recreating the mirror scene from Duck Soup. I also liked the two part episode where Lucy and Ethel stole John Wayne's footprints, and he had to keep making new ones!

I enjoyed all the different movie stars on those Hollywood episodes.

Hollywood, but it's a very close call. I love both.

I have to go with Hollywood , too. Including the roadtrip out west. There were so many adventures with that alone!

It just occurred to me:

To get to California, the went by automobile.
In Hollywood, Lucy & Ethel toured on a bus.
To get home, back to NY, they took the train.
To get to Europe, they went by boat.
In Europe, they rode bicycles.
And the return trip, they flew home on a plane.

The original "Planes ,Trains, and Automobiles"! With a few other modes of transportation thrown in for good measure!!

HOLLYWOD always. Even from the day they left New York.

Leaving by way of what looks like the Brooklyn bridge Ricky is smiling and holding the steering wheel of the Pontiac. He starts to look around---

California here I come, right back where I started from. Where bowers of flowers bloom in the spring
Each morning at dawning birdies sing and everthing
Some sunkist miss said don't be late, that's why I can hardly wait. Open at that golden gate, California here I come.

^I think that scene is one of the reasons why I prefer the Hollywood eppys. That's one of the most iconic ILL moments.

It's not the Brooklyn Bridge. It's the Washington Bridge that takes you into New Jersey!
They lived in Manhattan so they needed to travel West.
