Wow, can you say off the clock?! That's a bigger mess than TV Land and MTV.
Not a bad schedule....would like to see 70s Show air a little earlier, but I still think it'll do well. Interesting that The Nanny is going to air on Nick at Nite and TV Land at the same time.
Family Matters and Home Improvement barely hanging on - I suspect both will be gone once Friends comes, and The Nanny will probably be late nights only. Will be interesting to see the fall schedule.
mets82 05-21-2011, 04:35 PM Dont understand why That 70s Show is on Nick at Nite? I mean its on in syndication, Teen Nick, FX and ABC Family. I just dont understand the appeal to put this show on considering its on all over the place anyway.

It's not on FX anymore, and if I had to guess, the Teennick airings will disappear once it starts on Nick @ Nite. Why air it at the same time? And...
off the clock?!! Really N@N? Geez!
off the clock?!! Really N@N? Geez!At least the TV Land off the clock airings are usually :05, :10, :15, :25, etc. This is a disaster!
When Friends comes, this is what I would like to see:
8-9PM My Wife & Kids
9-10PM That '70s Show
10-11PM George Lopez
11-12AM Friends
12-1AM Everybody Hates Chris
1-2AM George Lopez
2-3AM Friends
3-4AM That '70s Show
4-5AM My Wife & Kids
5-6AM The Nanny (or Everybody Hates Chris?)
6-7AM Full House
and do Family Matters blocks on the weekend, maybe? When Friends comes, something is going to have to be reduced since it'll likely take 2 hours out of the schedule. I predict something similar to what I posted above, but Chris may do better for them than I'm thinking. It's on BET, not sure how it does for them.
Pavan 05-21-2011, 09:10 PM TV Land has the same type of off-the-clock timings with an entire half-hour extra of commercials, just like Nick at Nite is doing.
DSfan 05-22-2011, 01:22 AM At least the TV Land off the clock airings are usually :05, :10, :15, :25, etc. This is a disaster!
When Friends comes, this is what I would like to see:
8-9PM My Wife & Kids
9-10PM That '70s Show
10-11PM George Lopez
11-12AM Friends
Firstly, totally crazy news that Nick at Nite is airing That 70's Show! I know it's on TeenNick and both are Viacom-owned, but still. Nobody expected this to happen.
Odd that both TeenNick and Nick at Nite are airing That 70's Show at 11 and then Nick at Nite and TV Land are both airing the Nanny at midnight. That seems a little screwy, no? I don't really get why they would do that.
And I quoted above because I would love to see that happen come fall. My Wife & Kids and That 70's Show are good transitions from Nickelodeon to Nick at Nite and George Lopez and Friends are teen-friendly as well. I find N@N now compared to say 1999 when they would only air 50's, 60's, and 70's sitcoms which maybe only appealed to older audiences, the sitcoms they have now can be equally enjoyed by an 18 year old or 40 year old.
Also, agree that Home Improvement and Family Matters look completely dead for this network. Fall schedule will definitely be interesting. Most anticipated N@N schedule in a while with Friends coming and now to see how they handle That 70's Show, Family Matters, Home Improvement, and even The Nanny.
Pavan 05-22-2011, 02:31 AM More info will be on the blog on Monday, including if TeenNick/MTV will still be airing it or not...

It would be nice to see Family Matters on TV Land. Despite how silly it got in its later seasons, I consider the show a classic among '90s TV, and it doesn't deserve the treatment N@N is giving it!
ryan423 05-22-2011, 12:14 PM More info will be on the blog on Monday, including if TeenNick/MTV will still be airing it or not...
I hope NICK airs the show in HD. While ABC Family does, Teennick isn't available in HD on my cable provider. MTV and FX never did/do air it in HD either.
DSfan 05-23-2011, 12:16 AM More info will be on the blog on Monday, including if TeenNick/MTV will still be airing it or not...
Oh, okay yeah some TeenNick rescheduling is definitely needed/in play.
I find Family Matters should be back on ABC Family. Home Improvement would actually fit there perfectly. They should get rid of That 70's Show (I know this is totally not feasible but just my dream scenario) and also bring back Step by Step. That way they'd have all those 90's ABC sitcoms pretty much.
mets82 05-23-2011, 12:54 AM I would like to know how That 70s Show can be on ABC Family? I mean its not exactly family programming, you know? I could see Family Matters or Home Improvment on there. Actually both of them would be a good fit.
Heckles101 05-23-2011, 12:16 PM I don't get why TeenNick can't keep playing That '70s Show (or Full House for that matter). Nick and TeenNick (back when it was The N) both aired Fresh Prince for years. T7S is the only good thing about the network so I'm bummed they're taking off to probably play some more Nick crap like True Jackson.
retrofan05 05-23-2011, 03:53 PM I wonder if TeenNick will start airing Family Matters? It seems like a good fit, especially since it is barely airing on Nick at Nite.

I find it to be the exact opposite, actually. TeenNick isn't the place for 90's sitcoms anymore. For example, in 2008 they would air Growing Pains weekday mornings at 11AM and it was just totally out of place with every other program they were airing.
That's another show I wish ABC Family would bring back.

I will say this, TeenNick has a habit of showing shows and then taking them off real fast. Look at Full House, The Hills, Growing Pains and Saved by The Bell. Those 4 shows started off on TeenNick and as soon as they started on TeenNick, they left TeenNick.
Pavan 05-23-2011, 10:30 PM Minor change...That '70s Show is now every night 11pm-12am and 3-4am instead of Sun-Fri.
I really, really hope That 70s Show does well. I think it will. Hopefully they will do something like I suggested and air it 9-10pm? when Friends comes, which I think will definitely get 11pm. Something just gives me the feeling that Everybody Hates Chris is the weaker link in primetime. I bet 70s will do better.
I wouldn't look for Family Matters on TV Land. They never even tried Growing Pains. I don't know how well it would fit anyway.
Side note....wasn't TV Land supposed to get That 70s Show a year or two ago? I keep thinking it was supposed to be in August of whenever. They need new shows more than NAN, especially since they have Friends coming, but that's JMO.
retrofan05 05-24-2011, 06:57 PM I find it to be the exact opposite, actually. TeenNick isn't the place for 90's sitcoms anymore.
I have to disagree. It was recently announced that Saved by the Bell would be returning and of course there will be the addition of the "90's are All That" block in the fall. Family Matters could easily fit into that block or along side Saved by the Bell.
Tubehead 05-25-2011, 12:54 AM hasany one heard if yes, dear is coming to nick at nite? i read on sitocm onlie that it coming to nick atnite then i read king of queens come onnick at nite not until 2013.
comedyfreak 05-25-2011, 08:50 AM I don't see how anyone could be surprised at TVland/Nick@nite for bringing that '70's show considering their blunderous moves these past couple of years.
spunkygirl 05-25-2011, 10:11 AM I didn't see a thread for it, but wanted to ask Pav, is Hub keeping Jem as part of the line up, or is it just that one time?
DSfan 05-26-2011, 02:06 AM I have to disagree. It was recently announced that Saved by the Bell would be returning and of course there will be the addition of the "90's are All That" block in the fall. Family Matters could easily fit into that block or along side Saved by the Bell.
Good point, you're right. I was thinking very short-term like up until the fall a 90's show wouldn't really fit and Saved by the Bell I think of as just a teen show and not really an "era" show if you know what I mean.
I'm so excited for that 90's midnight block come fall. Yeah, definitely Family Matters could fit in there.
Also, agreed with whoever said they keep shows for very short amounts of time. They'll probably do the same with the Judd Apatow shows they acquired today. That's the thing, we always make fun of Hallmark changing their schedule but they just shift timeslots or bring back/ditch I Love Lucy but TeenNick constantly seems to be totally revamping their whole lineup season to season (like fall to winter, winter to summer - not year to year if you got confused by my meaning)
And remember when Growing Pains was on N@N? Lasted all of one week lol
WordsworthESP 05-31-2011, 04:11 AM Well, this is extremely fortunate for me because I recently moved and switched from DirecTV to Cox Cable, so I have no TeenNick and couldn't watch That 70's Show at 11pm anymore - it was my nightly ritual.
The only issue is I don't like the "encore" idea; I wish they'd play the previous night's episodes at 11-12, then two "new" (or subsequent) episodes at 3 am. And I'd prefer it to air at 2 am, but oh well, beggars can't be choosy.
Buffyboy323 06-05-2011, 02:56 PM I'll never understand why Nick at Nite doesn't air more than a handful of shows. Anyway, it's nice to see That '70s Show on the network. I think it will do well.
Here's something I could see happening this fall;
8:00 My Wife & Kids
8:30 My Wife & Kids
9:00 George Lopez
9:30 George Lopez
10:00 That '70s Show
10:30 That '70s Show
11:00 Friends
11:30 Friends
12:00 Friends
12:30 Friends
1:00 My Wife & Kids
1:30 My Wife & Kids
2:00 George Lopez
2:30 George Lopez
3:00 That '70s Show
3:30 That '70s Show
4:00 Friends
4:30 Friends
5:00 Friends
5:30 Friends
6:00 Everybody Hates Chris
6:30 Everybody Hates Chris
TVFactFan 06-05-2011, 06:42 PM well it's good to see the Nanny reduced and I can now sample That's 70's show at 11pm
Buffyboy323 06-05-2011, 09:04 PM well it's good to see the Nanny reduced and I can now sample That's 70's show at 11pm
What do you think of the show so far? Is this your first time watching? Will you sample Friends this fall?

That schedule looks good to me....only thing is, after all of these years, I wonder if they would move George Lopez out of the 10pm slot. I think we'll see Chris leave primetime, whatever happens.
I think '70s and Friends will be their next big shows. Lopez will keep doing well, of course.
TVFactFan 06-05-2011, 09:21 PM What do you think of the show so far? Is this your first time watching? Will you sample Friends this fall?
Yes it will be my first time. If Friends is in the 10pm or 12 midnight slot then yes. 8pm and 9pm, no
Even though I'm a george lopez fan i'm not too upset about the show being yanked from the 10pm slot becase it's been on for 5 years. Hard to believe it's been that long

retrofan05 06-06-2011, 01:35 PM I highly doubt George Lopez will be moved from the 10 PM slot. I recall them moving it to 9 PM a while back and then quickly moving it back to 10. I think that was when Everybody Hates Chris joined. I would do a schedule like this:
8:00 My Wife & Kids
8:30 My Wife & Kids
9:00 That 70's Show
9:30 That 70's Show
10:00 George Lopez
10:30 George Lopez

3:00 George Lopez
3:30 George Lopez
4:00 Friends
4:30 Friends
5:00 Everybody Hates Chris
5:30 Everybody Hates Chris
I think if TV Land gave The Nanny a half way decent time slot, it could easily be removed from Nick at Nite.

ekkostar 06-09-2011, 12:35 PM I still like The Nanny but the current cycle is getting stale, it's been that way for a year now and they show the same number of episodes, I'm sure there are a lot of them that haven't been shown since the marathon. I feel like they skip through the earlier seasons to get straight to the Fran/Max romance.
Brent88 06-12-2011, 03:39 AM Looks like Family Matters is back at 6-7am ET for good every night according to my DVR
BigManMike 06-13-2011, 01:29 PM This schedule sucks. This off the clock programming is just really stupid. And I hate it that my favorite shows Family Matters and Everybody Hates Chris are not on in primetime, but only in the early hours of the morning when I am asleep.
Brent88 06-19-2011, 11:41 PM Looks like That 70's Show is airing Mon-Fri this week from 10pm-3am ET
Pavan 06-19-2011, 11:55 PM Yes, it is a marathon week. Highlights were posted last week:

Pavan 06-23-2011, 11:42 PM In case anyone missed it, we announced Nick at Nite's summer marathons and an addition to the line-up:
http://blog.sitcomsonline.com/2011/06/nick-at-nite-july-2011-has-summer.html
Just when you think MWC has aired everywhere it can, they start airing it somewhere else. TV Land needs it much more than Nick at Nite!
What a strange contract.
retrofan05 06-24-2011, 02:05 PM Honestly, Viacom should just consolidate their networks if they're going to air the same shows on every network. On a side note, isn't Married with Children a little old for Nick at Nite? The majority of their shows are post 2000's.
Brent88 06-25-2011, 01:50 PM I don't understand why MWC jumps around from Viacom network to network either. By all accounts, it fit well on TV Land, much better than on Spike and CMT(don't get me started on them...), so why'd they ever take it off(more than once I might add)? Seems like an odd fit for N@N to me as well.

Seems like an odd fit for N@N to me as well.It seems like it can only air on each network for a certain period of time. I bet it will be gone from Nick at Nite by the end of August. They paid a ton for it, didn't they? It belongs on TV Land....I would love to know how Everybody Loves Raymond does so "well" for them when it's been airing for at least 2 hours a night non-stop since March of last year!
Pavan 07-04-2011, 12:10 PM In case anyone missed it, we announced Nick at Nite's summer marathons and an addition to the line-up:

Yeah it's gone but it's replaced by another show in that same slot. And Home Improvement would be a lot better than My Wife and Kids
I'm betting MWC is just a filler until Friends comes. No matter where it's added, it normally gets pulled within a month or so if airing regularly. It needs to be on TV Land instead...they need something other than Everybody Loves Raymond!
TVFactFan 08-11-2011, 12:59 PM N@N is a mess right now

This reminds me of just a few months ago - March probably - when all of us here on the board were saying the same thing about how Hallmark Channel kept switching around their schedule day after day. Feels like the same thing is going on here. Once they decide on a Fall schedule, though, I would presume everything will be more under control.
retrofan05 08-12-2011, 01:43 AM This really is a mess. They should have just kept the marathons until Friends joined. Now, they're going to have to change the schedule again when Friends takes over That 70's Show's timeslot.

Rather watch friends than that 70's show

Not looking foward to it now that the Nanny is back.
retrofan05 08-19-2011, 03:00 PM I really don't care one way or another about Married with Children. I don't really like it. My question is, why put it on the schedule only to remove it? They did the same thing with it on TV Land and now they're doing it on Nick at Nite. What is so hard about having some consistency on the schedule? Either keep it or take it off. I can't stand this on one week and off the next stuff. That should be true for all shows. I don't mind them changing up the schedule once in a while, but keep it consistent for at least a month.

Thats the thing. You have something like whats going on with Married With Children. They are on TV Land and then just like that, they are off the air. Then they go to Nick at Nite and then poof, they are off the air.
OR
You have something like the Hallmark Channel in which they have shows like The Golden Girls, Fraiser and I Love Lucy and run them into the ground because they are constantly on.

I really hope they air Friends in some kind of order. It is one of the more serialized sitcoms. Nick at Nite should not jump all over the place with this show, but I have a feeling they're going to.

I'm sure they'll do what other networks do to it, by airing two different seasons at a time. N@N will probably start from season 1 at 10pm, and (I'm guessing) season 5 at 10:30. Don't be surprised though to see extreme editing! While I know I'll be falling asleep with Friends on N@N, I know the editing will be hard to stomach.

What exactly is the point of doing this? They do it with other shows too. Does it have to do with ratings? I don't understand why they can't just air the episodes in order from the beginning.

I completely agree! I don't remember the networks doing this before 4 or 5 years ago...

Yeah, that's something local channels would do, not a cable network. I hope the same cycle is from 10:00-11:00pm. We'll get through the show at a nice pace.

Maybe Im wrong but I thought networks show every single episode. I didnt know they skipped. Actually, the only real channel that Ive noticed this is The Hub where they have skipped a bunch of Happy Days episodes.

I can pretty much gurantee that Nick at Nite does it with The Nanny. It seems like they skip a lot of the earlier season episodes and go straight to the later seasons. It feels like one day you're watching the first episode and then the next, Fran is pregnant.

Another cable trend?-lol
DSfan 08-28-2011, 06:49 PM Another cable trend?-lol
The biggest example is probably Seinfeld, which always has two different seasons going at once. But Nick at Nite, while they may skip episodes and edit it terribly, I will be shocked if it's two separate seasons in each timeslot. That is only really done in local syndication where shows maybe air at 5 and then 11pm but if one local airs both in a row, then they have two different seasons.

They do it with George Lopez, they did it with Home Improvement, but I know they aren't for 70s Show. We'll see... I hope your right.

Are they airing That '70s Show in order?
ryan423 08-29-2011, 12:07 AM Are they airing That '70s Show in order?
From what I can tell, yes. Granted, I'm not watching it nightly, but they are at least showing one season at a time. I can't confirm or deny whether those season's episodes are in order though...
Pavan 08-29-2011, 12:16 AM George Lopez is like that because they are airing the runs like it would be in first run syndication (primary and secondary runs). It'll be exclusive probably to them this fall as locals will not air it this fall, so maybe they go in order now.
Every other show on Nick at Nite right now goes in order.

They skipped the last four episodes of the show. :(

That really sucks for people who just started watching the show all the way through, from beginning to...
