Fans Puzzle Over Mysterious Dark Knight Rises Site

Warner Bros. launched its website for The Dark Knight Rises this morning, and obsessive fans are already poring over what the unusual, minimalist site means.

Head to www.thedarkknightrises.com and all you'll get is a black page ... and a mysterious sound file of sinister, incoherent chanting. The file is titled "rises" and plays automatically when the page loads.

That's it. No release date countdown, no cast photos or bios, no plot synopsis.





However, the enterprising folks at JoBlo have discovered a hidden a teaser image of Tom Hardy as the villain Bane.

It starts out as a pixelated image, which then you're prompted to upload to Facebook or Twitter. The artwork is courtesy "our partner Hashtagart.com." When you tweet the image, it apparently fills in the image.



Fans have more than a year to wait until The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters; its release date is a distant July 20, 2012.

First Dark Knight Rises Poster Unveiled

Warner Bros continues its slow tease for the highly anticipated The Dark Knight Rises.

A teaser trailer is reportedly going to appear in front of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2, and the studio has just released its first poster for the sequel, which doesn't hit theaters until 2012.

At first glimpse, the poster image is just the familiar bat shape against a dark background. Look closer and that's the skyline of Gotham, crumbling from some catastrophic event. (Could it be the handiwork of villain Bane?)

If you're one of the five people who missed out on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 this past weekend, then that means you also missed out the first teaser trailer for The Dark Knight Rises.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you missed out on one hell of a night. But thanks to the powers at be over at Facebook, you can now dry those tears and watch the teaser as many darn times as you want.

Doesn't give a whole lot away and most of it is made of clips from Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, but July 20, 2012 seriously can't get here fast enough.

The Dark Knight Rises Prologue: Where You Can See It

Counting down the days until The Dark Knight Rises prologue hits theaters on Dec. 16? Now you can also plan your route to the nearest IMAX theater, where the six-minute-opening will play in front of showings of Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol.

Warner Bros. has just released the list of the 42 IMAX theaters in the U.S. and Canada where you can see the prologue that introduces villain Bane (Tom Hardy). It was shot in IMAX, as are several key scenes in Ghost Protocol.
