The main source of comedy on this show was the culture clash between a rich Bel Air family and their rapper relative from Philly. I think that basic premise would work with another rapper in the role. Would it work as well or for as long as it did with Will Smith? Maybe not. But I think the basic premise would have worked with any other rapper.

Was Chris Reid offered the role?? I didn't know that. I think he could have just as well. But it's really too hard to imagine.

I remember reading somewhere that Quincy Jones originally had MC Shan in mind for the role. I have a hard time imagining the show being very successful if that had panned out.
