I ask, because it seems every hit show from the 70's had licensed merchandise. For instance, Welcome Back Kotter had everything from dolls, to Halloween costumes to even office supplies! Did TMTMS have any of this stuff???

Well, maybe because TMTMS was geared toward an older audience, they didn't really have merchandise. The only thing I could think of was the MAD magazine parody of the "Mary Taylor Made" show.

I wonder what kind of merchandise they could have sold had they chosen to do so? I have a few idea's:

Sue Ann Nivens Happy Homemaker cookware and bakeware

Ted Baxter powder blue anchorman blazers

Lou Grant Scotch Whiskey

Murray Slaughter Typewriters

Gordy the weatherman thermometers

Monika pretty much hit the nail on the head, I think. B/c TMTMS was aimed at grown-ups, who wouldn't have been interested in toys, games, etc. Most of the shows that do that sort of thing tend to be kids' shows, or at least "family shows" such as Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, etc.

^ Yeah, because The Bob Newhart Show, Rhoda, Phyllis and WKRP didn't have merchandise, either (at least not to my knowledge). Those were shows that were geared towards a more...urbane (?) audience. Though there was a Barney Miller board game made in the 70s, but that wasn't an MTM/CBS show, so whatever. :crazy:

There were "Best of" VHS video compilations of The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Bob Newhart Show and Rhoda and even Phyllis released in the early '90's, well before tv show seasons on DVD. Also, W.K.R.P. in Cincinnati, which might be collectible, now!
