Anybody ever think that Jo was preferred by writers over Blair in the series? I know BLair had her bad points but I think sometimes Jo could be overly mean to Blair

I know Blair seems to be the favorite around here, but in short I think they could both be overly mean to each other at times. Mind you the show also did a good job focusing on the positive side of their friendship as well, so it wasn't all one sided. The only time I ever thought Jo ever went over the line was the slap in S4.

In terms of the writers, at least in the early years, I don't know that the writers sided with Jo so much as it was probably assumed that more viewers would likely be able to relate to wrong side of the tracks Jo than to spoiled rich Blair. I think when Jo first joined the show she was supposed to be seen as the underdog, a role that was lessened over time.

FWIW, I think the show did a good job developing Blair as a well rounded character. At least until the last few seasons where it seemed like they had her regress a bit.

I like Blair during the last seasons of the show. She had some serious storylines. I don't think the writers favored Jo over Blair. It seemed a fair balance to me. Blair was almost get her own spinoff. I liked how she matured during her last few seasons.
