X-Rated 'Hustler' Moving In To Clintonville
Wednesday, May 11, 2011
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Some business owners and residents said Wednesday that they are afraid that Clintonville will lose its family-friendly feel after an X-rated adult store moves in.
Adult entertainment giant HUSTLER plans to open a Hustler Hollywood store on North High Street, 10TV's Andy Hirsch reported.
Anand Saha, owner of Mozart's Bakery and Caf, calls Clintonville the perfect place for his family restaurant.
"This is a very community-oriented neighborhood. Lots of families, children," Saha said.
Saha said he was a little surprised when Larry Flynt, the publisher of HUSTLER magazine, stopped in for lunch on Tuesday.
"I thought I recognized him," Saha said. "I went back to the office, Googled his name, and it was him."
Saha found out that just a few blocks from his bakery, Flynt plans to open the store in an old Tan Pro location.
"As a business man, anybody is allowed to do what they want," Saha said. "This is America. But as a resident of Clintonville, obviously I'm not happy."
On its Web site, the store describes itself as tasteful and upscale, offering clothes, lingerie, adult entertainment and an upscale selection of novelties.
"It doesn't really phase me I guess," Sansom said. "I do not have a problem with it. We're all adults here, you know?"
Saha said he feels most residents agree that the HUSTLER store just doesn't fit in.
"We've all invested so much in this community, we are a little afraid," Saha said.
Hustler Hollywood could not immediately be reached for comment.
The man overseeing renovations of the new store said that it should be ready to open this summer.
