Q: You worked on Evening Shade. Did you ever see Burt Reynolds lose his temper?

A: Yep. Oh yeah. You know, it’s funny, he just would lose it. He lost it on the prop guy—screamed at a prop guy because they didn’t give him the right thing. I remember being very kind of disturbed as a kid and he ended up directing my second episode. I’m friends with an actor named M. C. Gainey, who worked with Burt Reynolds and loved him—they became best friends. I said, “You know, Burt Reynolds, when I was a kid, scared the crap out of me because he was such an ******* on set.” And M.C. said, “Yeah, he was grumpy back in those days.” At that time, I think he was really pissed that he was doing a family sitcom. I think he thought that he was better than that.

Q: When I asked that question, I was hoping you were going to say, “No, he was a true professional. He took me under his wing and showed me the ropes.”

If Burt really did think being on a family sitcom was beneath him it didn't show on the screen. He was very good on Evening Shade. And Evening Shade was a very good show. It's just too bad it was underrated and under appreciated.

Well he started on Tv and then became a big movie star and now he was back on TV. He was having alot of problems in the 80's. He starred in one flop movie after another and he had a health scare. TV really brought him back up even if he thought it it was a step down. I agree he was very good on the show. I liked him on B.L. Stryker too which he did right before Evening Shade.

I agree with Stuck in the 70's. I LOVE Burt's movies from about 1977-85. I have pretty much every good thing he did during this time frame on DVD. The problem is after '85 he didn't do anything! Or if he did they were so bad that no one remembers them.

What I absolutely love about this show is the producers and Burt himself probably; surrounded himself with people who had helped make his movies great in a alot of cases.

Marilu Henner, Charles Durning, I believe he did something with Ossie Davis. The DJ in the episode where Ava debates Jim Guy Puckett was a bit player in at least 3 of Burt's movies. So for me, you not only had Burt Reynolds, but a bunch of people I know from his movies, which for me made a great cast.

CBS right now could re-air those episodes in prime time on Monday nights and bolster the 8:30 *EST* timeslot.

Somehow, I believe that he did lose it. I remember when he was in Tampa 20 years ago where I was living, my local news (channel 8) got on location footage for the movie he was doing at the time (Cop and a half). He was yelling at production people while he was in a prop car. He struck me as a jerk. The news casters in the stuido simply laughed it off. I don't really care for his attitude.

Yeah,it might be true i don't know.But if it was it shouldn't of been.I thought it was a good show.

Sounds about right,he was probably just having a bad day.Everybody does from time to time.Come to think of it though.I remember Brother love.The wrestling guy complaining about Burt being a jerk at wrestlemania one year.

Is it true that Burt Reynolds hated working with (https://ew.com/article/1993/02/26/hot-headed-burt-reynolds/) Linda Bloodworth-Thomason (https://ew.com/article/1993/01/29/linda-bloodworth-thomasons-cbs-sitcoms/)? I think that he alluded to that in his autobiography.
