Tony Award-winning actress Marian Mercer passed away on April 27th. She was 75 years old.

Born in Akron, Ohio, Mercer graduated from the University of Michigan, then spent several seasons working in summer stock. She made her Broadway debut in the chorus of Greenwillow in 1960, drew critical notice for her performance in New Faces of 1962, and won the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical, the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Performance, and the Theatre World Award for Promises, Promises as Marge MacDougall (1968).

Mercer was a regular on The Dom DeLuise Show, The Wacky World of Jonathan Winters, The Sandy Duncan Show, The Andy Williams Show, and the sitcom It's a Living where she played the humorless restaurant hostess, Nancy Beebe. She also had recurring roles on Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman, its sequel Forever Fernwood, St. Elsewhere, and Empty Nest. She made guest appearances on such shows as Love, American Style, Archie Bunker's Place, Mama's Family, Benson, The Golden Girls, Murder, She Wrote, Touched by an Angel, and Suddenly Susan, among many others.

Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marian_Mercer)is saying Ms. Mercer was suffering from Alzheimer's Disease at the time of her death.

She was great on It's a Living, and I liked her guest shot on The Golden Girls. Plus I'll remember her small (but funny) role in the movie 9 to 5.

So sad to see this news. I had read about Marian living in a Nursing Home. There was a picture of her a while back along with an article about the Nursing Home's funding. It's a shame what happens as people get older. I only wish they had done an "It's A Living" reunion or revisit.

She was also in a short-lived series with Shirley Booth called "A Touch Of Grace".

Although I loved her in "9 to 5" and "The Golden Girls", she will always be Nancy Beebe to me. :)

R.I.P. I love her on It's A Living and Empty Nest.

When she died she was living at the Motion Picture & Television Country House which is Nursing Home but, not the type of Nursing Home most would imagine when they think of a Nursing Home.

I had no idea she was sick, but I LOVED her on It's a Living on abc and syndication and yes, she will always be known as Nancy Beebe

God Bless Her and may she R.I.P.
