At the beginning of the Marineland episode that opened the fourth season, Lucy is talking to the recruiter at the military academy, explaining why she is in California and trying to enroll her son in military school. She says her daughter, Chris, has come to California to attend college and she decided to move there to be near her. And now, with the expense of having her daughter in college, her late husband's trust fund isn't enough to pay the costs of college, so she needs to go out and find a job. And she wants to put her son in military boarding school so she can go out and look for work. Much of this dialogue has been edited out of the syndicated version, so the full explanation has been lost . . . until now. Still, that's kind of an odd premise because military school isn't cheap. She needs a job to help pay Chris's college, but putting Jerry in military school, it seems, would wipe away whatever money she makes working.

Thank you for that, Reverend Jim. :) Now tell me, what does a yellow light mean?

So, at exactly what point does Lucy completely forget she has a son and daughter?

That never happens. There are occasional references to her "two children" as late as the sixth season.

Rev. Jim, Bobby Wheeler is obviously a dim bulb. Such a simple question, but just no comprehension. :) I'm sure you would have gotten further if Lucy were around. She'd at least she'd understand the question. And if she didn't know the answer, she'd find a way to cheat to get the answer to you, and with her track record, you would have gotten in trouble.
