Anyone else notice this? He squints ALL THE TIME. Then toward the middle years he doesn't do it anymore. Then at Spin City he was (and not that he could control it) bugging his eyes a lot.

But as far as the early years of "Ties", its really annoying.

I've noticed it. He did it all the time. It could be one of his acting techniques for times when he was trying to make sense of something.
Maybe it got on the producer's nerves and they asked him to stop.

 He has glasses now, maybe he was having eye problems and eventually got contacts..... I don't know just a guess....

Never noticed that. I'll have to look for it. What season does he stop in?

I noticed that widening-eyes thing in Spin City years and just chalked it up to Parkinson's, but I never noticed the squinting thing in early FT. Hmmm....I'm off to look for it :).

Peace,

I've noticed the squinting thing on Family Ties, and I think its just part of his acting technique. He always does it either when Alex is being sarcastic or when he is incredibly pleased with himself. :)

I noticed that he squints alot, too. I see it alot in his films.
I think it's just his acting technique. It's probably not related to Parkinsons' disease at all.

I would have to agree. I think it's just the way he acts. It's part of his physical humor. Expressive eyebrows make people laugh. Red Skelton used his eyebrows to make people laugh, too.
