Black Sabbath Horror Film in the Works

Most horror and metal fans already know that rock demigods Black Sabbath took their name from the English-language title of Mario Bava's 1963 anthology film I Tre Volti Della Paura (Three Faces of Fear).

But according to a recent announcement, it looks like the tables have turned and a horror movie based around classic Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne tunes may soon be in development, with Ozzy's son Jack at the helm.

Details are still pretty sketchy at the moment, but we'll show you what we know so far...







According to an online article from UK music magazine NME, Jack announced the project at New York's Tribeca Film Festival after the premiere of the music documentary God Bless Ozzy Osbourne.

Jack produced the concert film himself through his own company, Jacko Productions, and his co-producer Marc Weingarten confirmed with a similar statement. "Just the music of Black Sabbath is in the movie," Weingarten explained, "but it's not about the band. We'll start shooting by the end of the year."







No word yet as to whether Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi is still moving forward with a planned series of Black Sabbath horror films with producer Mike Fleiss, a project they originally announced back in 2009.

Since Tony and Ozzy have butted heads over trademark rights to the Black Sabbath name, it'll be interesting to see what happens if both projects fly.
