I believe Monica states on her FB page she thinks she is a kidnap victim, was on UM and is looking for her bio family. It doesn't get any more real than that.

okay this is probably going to bring down a bunch of abuse on my head...I usually try to stay neutral/non offensive on this board because I don't want to argue/fight with anyone. But I think posting these last two posts (especially the last one) is going too far. I know they were on facebook for anyone to read, but the people that would be mostly reading it is friends and family of this guy. This is the ex-husband of the daughter of one of the Mary Morris's. Here's my only question about that rule CrystalDawn. Why hasn't law enforcement asked Spike/Lifetime to cease and decist from showing the case on their television program? I'm not sure what all their reasons were for asking us to stop discussing the case. They just said it was an open investigation. I do know that at one time the co-worker and other relatives of the second Mary Morris would post on the board and argue amongst themselves and it was not long after after LE requested we refrain from discussing the case. My guess as to why they don't care about it still being up on the unsolved website or shown on UM is only the facts of the case are listed there, not discussions.

The posts were almost entirely from left field, yet contained scant traces of credible information that was not widely known outside the UM segment. The poster was so far gone that some members here actually speculated this may have been the person responsible for and behind the Wacker harassment campaign.

Hmmmm, I can definitely see the resemblance, but this guy's page says he graduated from Waynesburg University in Pennsylvania in 1984. Tim is from Nevada and would have been almost 40 years old in 1984, though I guess it's not beyond the realm of possibility that he could have started university in another state at a late age, considering how long he lived with his mother.

Looking around Jane's Facebook page she looks like she is having a good life now. Its nice that her profile is public and she has photos of herself and her family everyone can see. She has many posts about the attack, and how thankful she is to be alive with her daughter Jess. I hope her attacker will be caught and pay for what he did very soon.

Thanks. I'm not sure if her profile being public is intentional or not but it's great to see that she's having a good life for sure. I'm glad she's learning to cope with the events of that night she was attacked. I think she identified Michael Nicholaou as her attacker who might possibly be the Connecticut River killer who attacked her and killed those other women. We may never know though now that he is dead and no physical evidence links him to the crimes.

Now that's creepy! :eek: I haven't read anything on these boards that spooky since that poster mentioned something about chatting in 1987 on their CB Radio to "Stargazer" yes THAT Stargazer! I can't remember the poster's name or if their story was remotely true.

I have wondered about Rob Shafer the most. I can not imagine the pain and torment that he has suffered over the years.

I actually found Darlene Robertson (Diana's sister who was on UM) a couple of months ago and her friend list led me to Crystal. I cannot find her now when I search, unfortunately but I definitely found them because I believe Diana's mother was both of their "friends" as well.

I did speak with detectives in the case and the implication was to go for it some so I am. Exact words at the end of conversation: : "Good luck buddy"

I told him I was going to do a bit on Katy Morris and her past boy friend, Timmy Estep who is here. Detectives deleted it back and forth on my facebook posts but left up the comments on Gemmell. Of course she only had a flesh wound, (well it was a shot that broke her forearm, but it was minor compared to her kids injuries). It's been a long time since I read the book and I don't think I watched the movie, but it does seem like that the hospital staff started noticing something going on with the kids. It might have just been the girl or could have been both surviving children, I can't remember.

But anyway, seems like Diane was worried that her daughter would tell exactly what happened because she was old enough to be a credible witness. I think Diane either tried to "have the plug pulled" or was doing something to keep her daughter quiet. Also seems like the staff noticed that the daughter was agitated and quiet around her mother. I think Diane even deliberately did things to intimidate the girl into staying quiet while she was hospitalized.

I think I still have this book, but a lot of my books are in storage until at least March next year or I'd be able to look up the details. Maybe the trutv article has info on this. I'll go read that in a few minutes and see if they address that issue.

(Christie suffered a stroke while in the hospital which caused her speech to be slurred but it wasn't life threatening. Maybe this is when Diane Downs suggested "pulling the plug"?.... if we are remembering that part of these events correctly.)

Other positive things were happening. County Judge Gregory Foote placed the two surviving Downs youngsters in the protective custody of the state's child services bureau. This meant that, for the meantime, Diane was not allowed to see her kids. That she felt she was being treated like a criminal was, in reality, a nose-thumb by Hugi after she violently threatened to remove the children from the hospital and take them away if detectives wouldn't stop hounding her.

Danny, still confined to his bed, was given full protection by the police department until he would be medically released, at which time he would follow his sibling into a suitable foster family. The home where Christie was transported was kept a secret, her whereabouts known by only a few authorities.

Nurse Rose Martin recalled mother Diane's peculiar attitude [soon after arriving in the emergency room] toward what had just happened. "She asked how the children were, and I told her the doctors were in there working on them," Martin remembered. "And then she the mother laughed, and she said, 'Only the best for my kids!' and she laughed again and said, 'Well, I have good insurance.'"

X-ray Technician Carleen Elbridge could not get over the fact that Diane, a mother of three severely wounded youngsters, complained about having to be seen in public without makeup.

There is a photo in his wife's pictures that shows his tombstone -- I think there was some confusion as to whether he had died, but I think people might have been confusing him with Jim Mead?, another Vietnam vet from the show that was also looking for a nurse.
