View Full Version : Please help me Indentify this...
ayshren 04-26-2011, 02:15 AM I have posted this question in other forums but just cant seem to get an answer:( I could be wrong...but I want to say this was an episode of either UM or AMW. This is what I remember of it...
A man murders his wife in a trailer, and stuffs her body in an AC duct or some other sort of pipe, duct. Then he runs off with their little boy (who I specifically remember having red curly hair in the segment) A female neighbor had heard them arguing, and the next morning went to the trailer and found the carpet soaked in blood and eventually found the wife's body. I remember the lady driving after the man as he was taking off in his truck with the little boy and yelling at him to please at least let her take the little boy with her.
The man was a good bit older than his wife and couldnt stand hot food, because he said it burned his mouth.
lol I know this is sketchy, and I remembered some of the odd details about it, but if this sounds familiar to any of you, please let me know. Ive never forgotten this case, and want to know if they ever caught the guy and what happened to the little boy.
Thanks for any help:)
Mysteryphile 04-26-2011, 05:41 AM I've never heard of this case, or even one similar. Hopefully someone on here with a lot more UM knowledge can help you out.
RadiantEmma11 04-26-2011, 06:26 AM I never heard of this one either. Try posting this in an AMW thread and see if you have more luck there.
ayshren 04-26-2011, 07:47 AM Thanks for your replies and I will try posting in the AMW thread.
ayshren 04-26-2011, 07:51 AM Is it just me? I cant find an AMW thread:(

I found a forum for AMW....not sure the popularity of it but it might be worth it to give it a go. May I also suggest maybe doing a google search...using a summary of the case description...try also adding crime shows in your search or more specifically AMW.

That part sounds familiar. In fact, the case you described sounds to me like a case that America's Most Wanted profiled in the early '90s. Although I cannot remember any specific names or what state this was in, I recall that the murder occurred in 1983.
If you don't recall ever seeing it on UM, then more than likely it was never on UM. In fact, as I recall, UM never did a feature on that case (unless it was briefly profiled as part of a "special alert" segment).
I did a little digging and came up with John "Ed" Childers. He was profiled on AMW numerous times, but was finally captured in 1994, becoming the show's 300th capture.
Check out this link to see if this is the case you were referring to.

Here's a link on a court document from 1998, when Childers unsuccessfully appealed his murder conviction.

Do you know what ended up happening to the young boy? Was he killed as well?

The boy was left behind (right before Childers went on his ten-year run), but unharmed.

ONCE AGAIN THE UM VEIWERS ROCK!
ONCE AGAIN THE UM VEIWERS ROCK!
True, but UM had nothing to do with the man's capture. UM never featured the case; AMW did.
