That the TVs are getting bigger, brighter and better but the shows are getting smaller and stupider?
I kinda wish we had todays TVs back in the 1950s-70s when the shows were worth watching.
Actually I was thinking about my (dead) parents and how I would have loved for them to see all the shows they loved on HD big screen tvs

You make an excellent point! And if i ever get one of those giant TV's I'm going to use it to watch classic TV shows on DVD!

T V has gotten so boring that I have basically given up the big 3 networks(ABC NBC CBS) I mainly watch classic sitcoms and dramas on dvd or I watch stations like Biography, HGTV and Food Network.The last regular network show that I watched regularly was Roseanne which ended in 1997! :lol:

I stopped caring for TV Shows in 2001.

Luckily...There's TV Stations dedicated to Classic TV Shows that isn't called TV Land!

There are so many reasons why TV is refered to as "the idiot box". I think I spend at the most 2 hours a day in front of the thing, and its watching my DVD's.



No way will I ever have cable again. Waste of money.

I watch that retro channel that has Leave It To Beaver, Dragnet, Adam-12. So much better than the trash that is on today.

I'd argue the same is true for music. The technology is much more advanced than in the 50s-70s, yet the music is immeasurably worse.

As to TV watching, if it weren't for the news, I'd probably watch about five hours of TV a week, tops. Thank God for YouTube, and memories.

I'm with you Marv - classic TV all the way (I love my DVDs :heart: - I can retreat from all the current garbage and watch me some oldies that are goodies - like Mary Tyler Moore and my beloved Adv. of Ozzie & Harriet - and Bewitched ain't too shabby either!)

I completey agree. There are only a few shows in which I truly watch on TV. House, Family Guy and Desperate Housewives and to tell you the truth, I've been slacking on House. It basically all adds up to about 2 hours a week that I actuall spend watching television. Its kinda sad when it comes down to it really. I'm 17 and most of todays shows geared towards my age group suck. Lol, instead of ICarly my friends and I spent and afternoon watching Little Rascals which somehow cannot be found on tv.

Yep, it's the stories that should be big not the screens. Without the former, the latter doesn't mean a thing.

I don't have one either - I'm still kinda prehistoric but I don't care - I have a big fat ol analog 20 in. screen w a digital box on top - all I need - when it kicks the bucket I'll get an LCD

There's still some great shows out there. You just have to find them! Most of them aren't on the broadcast networks.

Men of a Certain Age, for instance, is way better than anything currently on the "big four."
