I watched it with my brother when it first aired years ago, and it involved this son of a Hollywood producer or something meeting this African homeless guy and feeling extremely sympathetic for him. I think he was Haitian or something. One thing leads to another, and he eventually lets him stay in his house and live with him or something like that. On the day the guy was reported missing, his mom or sister went to his house and found only that guy and all he wanted to do was to get a kiss from her. Its believed that he ran off with the guy's hoodlums and was involved in foul play later.

Sorry if my memory's really sketchy. I do remember that they would practice voodoo rituals together and he once got really bad burns because of it.
