I just saw the Munsters on TV Land and it was a riot! The chapter I saw was when Grandpa made a Love potion for Marilyn. By accident Lily and Herman ate the oatmeal with the Love potion in it. They were looking at each other all googley eyed. Then the mailman fell in love with Lily. Plus the neighbor named Yolanda fell in love with Herman. Eddie ran home because there were a gaggle of girls running after him screaming like he was a movie star or something. I miss this kind of comedy. Shows like this are few and far between............ :clap: :dance:

By coincidence, I happened to see that same ep the other night, and it was the first time I had seen a 'Munsters' ep in a long time. These off-the-wall comedies from the 60's are really funny. One thing interesting about them, though, is such variety in how people interpret the ideas. In the case of 'The Munsters,' it is obvioulsy foremost a spoof on monsters and the supernatural. But there are also, at times anyway, such themes as 'normalcy' is relative; one man's trash is another man's treasure; and a person or family views the world through its own 'priveleged reference frame.

I have even read where some take the more subtle ideas too seriously. One person said she could not "bear to watch" this show because of the sadness she sees in Herman Munster; a gentle giant everyone is afraid of because of his freakish appearance. Apparently she related this to being prejudiced against someone who has a burned or diseased face, and/or against a person without the mental capacity to realize he is not 'normal'-- though that may be relative, as the earlier-cited theme suggests.

What you stated could be true, but with all the things happening in the world today and our personal everyday stresses I just sat down and had a good laugh with this show! Life is hard. We need a good laugh every now and then! :wave:

OMG, I love that episode. It's hysterical. Definitely one of my favorites.
