Betty White has made a huge comeback this year--starring in TV Land's most successful sitcom 'Hot in Cleveland,' landing on Vanity Fair's most eligible single ladies list and getting movie roles opposite some of Hollywood's biggest players.

And while White is enjoying her time in the limelight, she has a few choice words for some of today's generation of actors.

"I cannot stand the people who get wonderful starts in show business, and who abuse it. Lindsay Lohan and Charlie Sheen, for example, although there are plenty of others, too," the 89-year old actress told the Daily Mail. "They are the most blessed people in the world and they don't appreciate it."

"They party too much, don't learn their lines, are unprofessional and they grumble about everything. I think they are terribly ungrateful," White continued.

The former 'Golden Girls' actress then recalled how things were when she was an up-and-comer: "We considered ourselves lucky to be on the box, never complained if a critic didn't like us, dressed modestly and were always on our best behavior in public."

Sources tell TMZ.com that Lohan is "saddened" that White went after her. The source added Lohan isn't angry with White, just disappointed that she would say those things at a time when Lohan is trying to put her life back together.

Lindsay should respect Betty white who has had (and continues to have) a very long and very successful career in show business. And she should take Betty's advice too! Same goes for Charlie Sheen et al!

Lindsay Lohan responds to Betty White's slam

Getting slammed by the nicest "Golden Girl" has got to feel pretty weird.

Lindsay Lohan spoke exclusively to E! News in response to Betty White saying, "Wow, I've always been a fan of hers. It's just a bit strange when people feel they must speak publicly about others. Especially a grown woman."

Charlie Sheen, surprisingly, has not tweeted or otherwise issued a reaction to White's comments.

Lohan had nothing to say on Sheen's behalf, but she is apparently a fan, having tweeted yesterday: "'Youre with a winner, you wont regret this'"-charlie sheen as bud fox in Wall Street (winner-winning!) made me laugh lol."

That's Lindsay's response?! "she's saddened"? Hello?!, why don't you put some thought into the statement she made, and why she would make such a statement. Lindsay ought to be honored Betty White even bothered to make reference to her!

Lindsay shouldn't be disappointed at Betty. All she did was speak the truth and as it is often said the truth hurts. Perhaps if she had made better choices with her life maybe she wouldn't be in the mess she is in trying to rebuild her career again. The same thing goes for Charlie Sheen, as much as I thought he was good on Two and a Half Men, he deserved to be fired from the show after insulting creater Chuck Lorre like he did.

Way to go, Betty! I couldn't agree more. The average sitcom has too many young actors and young writers which is why they don't garner big audiences. They may get tons of undeserved praise heaped on them, but most sitcoms today can't even compare to the sitcoms of the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s.

Oh, darn. Lindsay's feeling are hurt. Get the sympathy cards and flowers. At least Betty was professional about it. She should be thankful she avoided more jail time when her butt should have been there in the first place.
