Expendables 2 Gets Release Date

You can't keep good mercenaries down.

We've known for awhile that Sylvester Stallone was interested in putting together The Expendables 2 after the success of the first film.
Now London's Metro reports that Stallone has set a date for the sequel: Aug. 17, 2012, just a little over two years from the day The Expendables hit the big screen.

Though Stallone won't be making a return engagement in the director's chair for this one (he wrote and helmed the first one), he will return as head expendable Barney Ross.

Additionally, it's expected that the first film's stars will return for the second installment. Those include Jason Statham, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews and Steve Austin ... but nothing has been sealed yet.

Rumors have been floating around that both Willis and Schwarzenegger will have bigger roles.

According to Metro, Stallone previously tweeted: "Had dinner with Bruce Willis last night. I want him in EXPENDABLES II as a super villain. What do you think?"

Glad to hear this because i love the first one and i got it on dvd. How come Stallone isn't directing the sequel? How is Steve Austin gonna be in the 2nd one when he got killed? LOL. Good to hear Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis are gonna have bigger roles in the new one.

He hasn't officially said, or I wasn't able to find anything, anything about why he chose not to direct the sequel.

Quite possible Steve Austin will play somebody else, like another henchman, since he didn't really have a big part.
