I watched it. It was pretty good. Not surpringly, they focused a lot on Travolta. But everyone got a chance to speak and it was fun. Ron Palillo was absent and the commentator said that Palillo was "under the weather."

But what baffled me was the inclusion of Ellen Travolta. I mean, she made a couple of guest appearances as Horshack's Mom, but that was it. She wasn't a cast member or even a recurring character.

But I guess when you're John Travolta's sister, it counts for something...

For the most part, the cast still looks GREAT (but Bobby Hegyes looks scary with that Sammy Hagar look - maybe he could get some tips from his cousin, Jon Bon Jovi?) - especially Lawrence-Hilton Jacobs and Marcia Strassman. I just wish the other cast members had gotten more of a chance to speak - even Gabe didn't really get many questions directed at him - and he was the star of that show!!!

While it was great to see TWO Travoltas - you're right that she was only on a few times. There were others who had recurring roles and more substancial airtime on WBK, like Stephen Shortridge (Beau), Charles Fleischer (Carvelli), and Helaine Lembeck (Judy Borden) - they may have been better choices. Oh well.

For those who missed it, here's the interview:

P.S. It was fun to find out that John's young daughter has become a fan of WBK. John also said he wouldn't let her date a Sweathog.

Is Ron Palillo present at the TVland Awards show, itself??

I'm not sure. From the little clips they showed of the cast on stage at the awards, I didn't see him.

Ellen Travolta was up there I think. I'm not sure why she was there.

According to Pavan's News Blog (available right here on S.O.) Ron Palillo was not at the awards show itself.

I forgot she played Horshak's mother.

I thought Robert Hegyes looked great as did the rest of the cast, especially the gorgeous Marcia Strassman! It's a shame that John Travolta answered almost every question and we didn't get to hear much from the rest of the cast. I don't blame John for that though. I blame the guy who conducted the interview. I didn't think he did a very good job at all. And I wish they would have mentioned the late John Sylvestor White and the late Debralee Scott.

That's such a shame Horshack wasn't there!! They'll probably never again be a time where all 4 original sweathogs are together again! :(

I know it's very disappointing. It took this long just to get John involved in one.

Isnt this like the 3rd time the cast (including Travolta) has gotten together, what about the ABC Anniversary special in what 2004?? Thought there was another time too, but I know they all got together then, well at least the sweathogs and kotter...also I just remembered when nick at nite aired reruns of the show many years ago didnt the cast (minus Travolta) talk about the show or certain episodes??

Yeah why not have Stephen Shortridge come back for the reunion, the Facts of Life brought back Cloris Leachman....but where was George Clooney??

^ Hey, if John Travolta and Tom Hanks can accept awards with and do interviews about the shows that put them on the map (Welcome Back, Kotter and Bosom Buddies, respectively) - then George Clooney has no excuse!!

The only thing that George Clooney ever says about the FOL is they fired him.

Well, for that matter, Molly Ringwald could have been there too!! But nobody remembers her from FOL. She's dropped out of sight anyway!

Doesn't she star as one of the parents in The Secret Life of the American Teenager?

Is there any chance this will spur on the release of Season 2 on DVD?

I mean, I bought Season 1 right when it came out.

Almost 4 freaking years ago!

Wasn't Clooney only on FOL for one season? He was hardly a significant character in the show's history. He was just one of those add-on characters that shows past their prime add to try and boost ratings. I don't believe it worked, right?

McGillicuddy

Yeah, you don't associate him with FOL, you associate him with ER. Just like Courtney Cox was not with the Family Ties cast. Nobody noticed, becaused she's more known for Friends!

He was on for a season and a half. His second year, I think he was billed as a special guest star and he wasn't on that many episodes. He did appear in the episode he was written out of. He went on the road with Stacey Q's character.

At least it was explained why his character was leaving, as opposed to having him simply vanish with no explanation.

It would have been great if Clooney surprised everyone by coming on stage and handing the FOL cast their awards...some might say that would be sort of upstaging them, but I don't think it would.
