View Full Version : Okay, here goes....
dovesong 01-02-2002, 03:53 PM Okay, guys, I don't generally post on message boards, but here goes. I've been reading some of your fan fics and I like some of them. I've been writing one myself, and I thought I'd run some of it by you to see what you think. Unfortunately, I'm a fairly new Division fan, I've only seen about 1/2 of the episodes and I apparently missed the part where Jinny and Teddy split. ---- So here's the scenario: This is immediately following the Intervention episode (and um... Teddy and Jinny are still together--I like it better that way anyways.-------Tell me what you think...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Scene setting--After The Intervention
(Jinny spends a good part of the night under the bridge intermittenly crying and being angry. 'How could they do this to me?' she'd think, then, 'How could they not?' Jinny knew her drinking was becoming destructive, but she was drawn to it. She began to feel the chill in the early monring air and decides to head home. She could use a drink right now. 'No.' she though somberly, 'she could use a nap.'
(Jinny walks up to the steps to her apartment slowly, searching through her keys for the right one. As she slides the key into the lock, the door opens from the inside. Jinny stand there shocked, staring at the figure standing before her.)
Teddy: Jinny, Thank God you're all right.
Jinny: (stuttering) T..Teddy. What...I though.. you were out of town. What are you doing here?
Teddy: I got in late last night. I thought I'd come by and you'd welcome me home, but you weren't here and I got worried. I called Magda and she told me about last night, Jinny. She's worried about you too, you should call her.
Jinny: Okay, stop, Teddy. I don't want to rehash this. (she pushes past him, but he grabs her arm)
Teddy: Jinny, could you just listen for a minute?
Jinny: No. I won't. Could you just leave? I had a long night. I'm tired. I need some sleep.
(Jinny walks through the apartment leaving Teddy standing at the door. He closes it and follows her.)
Teddy: No, Jinny. I'm not leaving. You're not getting rid of me that easily.
Jinny: Breaking and entering is a serious offense. I could arrest you. (she stops and throws up her hands) At least I could, if I were still a cop, that is. You heard that part of the story too, I assume.
(Tears start to well up in her eyes. But she refuses to let them spill over. Teddy approaches her carefully and puts his hands on her shoulders. She looks down avoiding eye contact. She realizes this was a mistake when the tears spill down her face and looks back up and away.)
Teddy: Yeah, I heard. Jinny, don't do this. You're a good cop.
Jinny: (laughs sarcastically) Not anymore.
Teddy: Jinny, listen to yourself. You're feeling sorry for yourself.
Jinny: Oh, yeah? What the hell am I supposed to do?
Teddy: Do something about it, Jinny. You can beat this.
Jinny: Who said I wanted to beat this? What's wrong with enjoying a drink every now and then? Huh? (her voice begins to rise with each word) What's wrong with that? Tell me!! You drink. What's the difference?
Teddy: The difference is, I know when to stop.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So, tell me what you think
Esperanza 01-02-2002, 04:52 PM Wow... this is really great! Keep going! :lol:

dovesong 01-03-2002, 09:51 AM Okay, here's more. I can't post a whole lot because I work 12-hour night shifts and sleep most of the day. But here's a little more (I sound like a drug dealer don't I? Here's just a little more..... (You'll also find, I can spell...but I just can't type)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(They both stop. Jinny, too shocked to speak, just stares at him with her mouth gaping. She realizes this and closes it.)
Teddy: I'm sorry, Jinny.
Jinny: (in unbelief) is that how you feel?
Teddy: No, Jinny, I...
Jinny: You don't have to lie to me, Teddy. I'm a big girl. If that's how you feel, then what are you doing here? Why don't you just leave.
Teddy: Because, Jinny. I love you. and I want to see more of you.
Jinny: (laughs, tears start to flow freely) Oh, God. What am I going to do, now?
(Jinny puts her hands over her face to hide it the fact that she's crying. Teddy tries to pull her close, but she resists.)
Teddy: Jinny, please. Let me help you. (pause) No. (Jinny looks up, curiously angry) you have to help yourself. Let me be here for you.
Jinny: (in tears, nods) Okay.
(She bursts iinto tears and finally collapses in his arms, weary from the previous night. He guides her into the living room and sits down. She follows suit and sits beside him. He guides her head onto his chest and holds her for a long time while she cries.)
(Sometime later, the phone rings, startling Teddy. He picks up the cordless from the end table, but just looks at it. He looks at Jinny and sees she is completely zonked. He decides to answer it so that the ringing won't wake her.)
Teddy: (quietly) Hello? (pause) Magda. Yeah, she got home about two hours ago. (pause) yeah, she was sober. I think she's agreed to go. She was exhausted. (pause) She's sleeping right now. I'll have her call you later. (pause) Okay, bye.
(Jinny awoke a few hours later, confused. She sat up and looked around. She could smell food cooking in the kitchen. She rose and walked in the kitchen. She paused at the sight of Teddy in an apron, cooking.)
Jinny: (laughs, looks at her watch) Shouldn't you be at work? I mean, I'm the one that fired. You do still have a job to go to, right?
Teddy: Well, (he walks over to her, puts his arms around her and kisses her slowly) one of the pluses about still having a job, is I still have vacation and sick days I can take. Besides, you didn't get fired, you were suspended. You still have a job, Jin.
Jinny: (sarcastically) Right. (changing the subject) What are you doing?
Teddy: Breakfast. Job or no job, a man's still gotta eat. You've still got a few minutes, go get cleaned up. (kissing her again)
(Teddy walks through the apartment into Jinny's bedroom. Jinny is there in a towel, drying her hair with another one. He walks up behind her and kisses her bare shoulder.)
Jinny: Hi.
Teddy: Hi. Breakfast is ready. Come and eat.
Jinny: Be there in a sec, okay?
Teddy: (leaving the room) Hurry, before it gets cold.
(Jenny comes through the apartment dressed in jeans and a button up shirt. Here hair is still wet and drapes down her shoulders. She walks through the kitchen to find Teddy dishing up plates of the food he'd worked so hard on.)
Teddy: Sit.
Jinny: Looks good. Fattening, but good.
Teddy: Thank you. Double portions for you, then.
Jinny: Ha! So, how long have you been here?
Teddy: Since about midnight. I got worried about you and called...(pauses and changes directions)...Oh, Magda called this morning. she wants you to call her when you wake up. She said that she should be at the station all day. Call her, Jin.
Jinny: (looking down at her plate, she picks up a fork and takes a bite of eggs) These are really good.
(Teddy reaches across the table and takes her hand. Jinny looks down)
Teddy: Jinny, Magda only did what she thought was right. She loves you, too, Jin. You've gotta give her credit, she's a true friend. At least she didn't turn her back when you needed her the most. Friends don't always tell you what you want to hear. True friends tell you the truth. And it's not always what we want to hear, but sometimes, it's what we need to hear.
Jinny: But did she have to do it in front of everybody? My family, the Captain, C.D., and oh, God, Angela. God, I hate her and her perfect little ways. Did she have to paste my weaknesses all over the walls for everyone to see?
Teddy: No offense, Jin, but you did a good job of that yourself, don't you think? Don't blame Magda.
Jinny: (getting up from the table and throwing her napkin down in anger) You know, you've got the nerve!
Teddy: I've got nerve!? Jinny, you walked onto the job drunk, and almost got yourself killed. Does that not bother you? Does the fact that you were about to be looking down the barrel of your own gun, not bother you? Because it sure scares the hell out of me, Jinny.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~******~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(Jinny walked away, through the living room, and into the bedroom, leaving Teddy in the kitchen.)
Teddy: (still in the kitchen) Jinny....Jinny, come on... (following her) Jinny.....
(Jinny is sitting on the bed, staring at the wall. Teddy sits beside her. She doesn't acknowledge his presence, but still stares at the picture of her mother hanging on the wall.)
Teddy: What are you thinking about, Jin?
Jinny: (she shakes her head, wiping away tears)
Teddy: What do you think she'd say?
Jinny: Don't Teddy, please.
Teddy: What did she say about you dad's drinking? Was she happy with it, Jinny?
Jinny: Stop it, Teddy!
Teddy: Okay. I'm sorry. I had no right to go there.
(A knock on the door interrupts them. Jinny glances in the next room, but doesn't bother to get up. Teddy pauses to see if she'll get it, but he goes and asnwers the door.)
(Jinny can hear voices exchanged. She can pick out Teddy's voice and also the voice of her 'ex-'bestfriend, Magda. She remains in her bedroom.)
Teddy: Jinny, you have company.
Jinny: I'm not really in the mood for company, Teddy.
Magda: You don't have to talk to me Jinny, but I'm not leaving until you hear me out.
(Magda comes over and sits on the bed next to Jinny. It isn't difficult to trace Jinny's gaze to the picture of her mother. They sit in silence for a time; no one speaks. You can hear Teddy in the kitchen, cleaning up the mess he made with breakfast.)
Magda: (trying to be cheerful) Did, uh, Teddy spend the night?
Jinny: I guess he did, I don't really remember.
(Another long silence)
Jinny: You know, you could have come tome. You didn't have to drag everybody else into this. Especially the Captain.
Magda: Jinny, an intervention is made up of people who care about you. Would you have listened to me, THIS TIME? I've tried, Jin. I've tried really hard, but you just don't listen to ME. I thought, if we were all there to show you we cared, maybe things would be different. Thought maybe you'd listen. Jinny, it wasn't done to put you on the chopping block. It was done to make you realize...
Jinny: To make me realize what? That I don't fit the profile of a good cop? Or a good person in general? What? Mag, I've been there for you. I've always been there for you!
Magda: I know, and the other day, when you were out there alone, Jin, I could have been there for you. But you didn't want me there. You didn't call me or anything. What was I supposed to think? Jinny, you were drunk. Your blook alcohol level was way beyond drunk, Jin.
Jinny: I was in control, Magda!
Magda: No, Jinny, you were anything but in control! Don't feed me that bull and think I'm going to believe it.
(Jinny begins to cry. Magda immediately drops her attitude and places her arm around Jinny's shoulders. Jinny cries for sometime. Then amost as quickly as she started, she stops Things are quiet fro a while.)
Jinny: I wasn't in the bathroom, Mag. (There, she'd said it. Jinny holds her breath, waiting for Magda to be angry.)
Magda: I know.
Jinny: (confused) You're not mad?
Magda: I'm furious, Jinny. But you're my friend, an dI forgive you. But there is a condition to my forgiveness. I'm asking that you don't put me in that situation again. That you don't put yourself in that situation again. For Benjamin, Jinny. I'm his mother, sure. But yoy're his buddy, and who's he gonna talk to when he gets older and can't come to me, if you get yourself killed? Who's gonna take care him, if I get myself killed? You can't promise me that this isn't gonna happen again, if you keep drinking, Jin. You can't make me that promise. And I need to hear that. I need to hear from you, Jinny, that you're not gonna let this happen again. Not to me, not to you. Not to my Benjamin.
(Magda is now in tears. Jinny knows that Magda's deepest fear is dying and leaving Benjamin alone. Jinny loved Benjamin like he was her own child. She had promised Madga that if anything ever happened to Magda, she, herself, would take Ben and raise him. She had also, jokingly, promised Magda that she promised not to let her get killed so that she wouldn't have to. She knew that Magda couldn't trust her anymore, but letting go was going to be so hard.)
Jinny: (crying, still looking at the wall) I'm sorry, Mag.
Magda: (crying, too) I'm sorry, Jinny.
Jinny: (quietly) I'll go.
Magda: What? You'll go? (this time, there are tears of joy)
Jinny: (nods, still looking away) For Mom, and (she laughs through her tears) for Benny.
(Magda and Jinny hug and cry. Teddy walks in to see them hugging. He stands in the doorway drying his hands on the apron he's still wearing. Jinny looks up and sees him standing there and laughs.)
Jinny: Mag, meet Teddy Crocker.
Magda: Nice. I'll give you my address next.
Teddy: (smiling and nodding) So? What's all the tears for?
(Magda looks at Jinny questioningly. Jinny nods her permission to give Teddy the good news.)
Magda: She's agreed to go. I need to call Ms. Fogelson back.
Teddy: Great!
Jinny: Mag, Im scared.
Magda: I know, Jinny. We'll all be here when you get back. We'll be waiting to cheer for you.
Jinny: But what if I can't do it? I've never been as scared of anything in my life.
Magda: If you think you're gonna fail, Jin, you will.
(Jinny stopped and thought about that. She nods. She waited while Magda dug in her purse for the number of the lady that had met the previous night. Madga calls and makes arrangements for Jinny to leave the following morning, and then hangs up the phone.)
Magda: Well, you leave in the morning. She'll pick you up and take you to the center. you'll be shown around and introduced to the staff, and....
Jinny: And blah, blah, blah, save the excitement for tomorrow.
Magda: (looking at her watch) Well, I gotta go. I took a long luch, but I told the Captain I'd be back at a reasonable hour. She'll be happy to hear you're going, Jin. She even agreed that maybe she'd let you come back early, if you made it through this program. If it's okay, I'll stop back by this evening.
Jinny: So, you think she'll really let me come back?
Magda: She said she would, Jin. She's not out to get you Jinny, she's out to make you the best you can be.
(Jinny looks at Magda and rolls her eyes. Magda returns her stare. They laugh.)
Jinny: Mag, I told the woman to go to hell. You think she's gonn let me live that one down?!
Magda: (laughing) Eventually. Not anytime soon, but yes, eventually. You're a good cop, Jin. She's not going to let you go that easily.
Jinny: And what about last night? What exactly was she trying to prove by showing up last night?
Magda: We aske dher to come, Jin. I told you, she cares more than you think. She wants you to be the best you can be....and that means sober.
(Again, Jinny rolls her eyes, but there is a hint of a smile.)
Magda: (glancing at her watch) Well, I gotta go. (reaches over and kisses Jinny on the cheek) I'll be back around this evening.
(Jinny walks Magda to the door and then returns through to the living room. She sits on the couch by Teddy. He just looks at her, saying nothing. Jinny eventually breaks his stare.)
Jinny: (placing her head in her hands) God, I could use a drink about now.
Teddy: Jinny......

dovesong 01-04-2002, 10:09 AM okay, here goes nothin'.........
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jinny: I can't even make it 24 hours without thinking abou it.
(Teddy reaches over nd kisses her on the cheek. When she turns to look at him he kisses her on the lips. Their lips part and Jinny backs away slightly.)
Jinny: (smiling) What was that for?
Teddy: Well, you're not think about drinking right now, are you? (Jinny shakes her head) Well, I have to give you something else to think about while you're gone. When you start to think about needing a drink, (he reaches over and kisses her again) you can think about me, instead.
Jinny: Mmmmm.... (kisses him again and smiles) I'm not sure drugs are permitted either.
Teddy: (teasingly) Am I that good?
Jinny: (just smiles)
(Jinny lays her head against Teddy's chest. He wraps his arms around her and buries his head in her hair. He taks a deep breath and inhales her scent. They sit quietly for a long time holding each other--afraid to speak.)
Jinny: I'm going to miss you, Teddy.
Teddy: Not for long. Hey, I'll be here when you get back. I told you Jin, you're not getting rid of me that easily.
Jinny: You know, I don't even know how long I'm going to be gone. I have no clue what I have voluntarily submitted myself to. What if I don't make it? What if I can't...
Teddy: All in good time. Don't worry about it today. Let's talk about us.
Jinny: (curiously) Us?
Teddy: (nodding) I love you, Jin.
Jinny: (smiling, suspicious) I...love...you too...Teddy.
(Teddy kisses her and lifts her hand with his. out of nowhere he produces a ring. He holds it up for her to see. She smiles, but pulls her hand away.)
Teddy: Marry me, Jin. Marry me and I'll be the happiest man on the earth.
Jinny: (shocked) Teddy, I can't talk about this right now. What if I fail? What if I can't make it? Teddy, you don't want to marry a drunk.
Teddy: Jinny, don't talk like that. You'll make it. You made it through the Police Academy, you can make it through this.
Jinny: Ha! (laughing sarcastically) I drank my way through the academy.
Teddy: (half-hearted smile) I know you're probably not joking, so I'm just going to change the subject. Jinny, (taking her hand again) I want you to wear this. Think of it as an incentive. Think of me and how much I love you, and how much I want you to succeed at this. Me and Magda, and all the other guys at the station. THink about us while you're up there, me and you. And then, when you come home, you can give me an answer. (Jinny nods)
(Teddy rises and walks across the room. He turns on the stereo. Soft music fills the room. He motions for her to stand. She shakes her head and blushes. He takes her hand and pulls her up to him. he wraps his arms around her and she returns the gesture. They sway back and forth, her head on his chest, neither speak. Jinny listens to Teddy's heart beating for a time. Then she raises her head to look at him. His eyes are closed. His look is of contentment. She smiles and hold on tighter.)
(They are still like this when the doorbell rings. They separate and look at each other and their watches.)
Teddy: Magda?
Jinny: (shrugs) Probably.
(Jinny walks over and answers the door. There stands Magda, C.D., and Angela, holding several take-out cartons from the local Chinese restaurant.)
Jinny: Ah, Mag. Did'ya have to go and do all this?
Magda: Yes, (she kisses Jinny on the cheek as she walks past her and into the kitchen.)
Jinny: (to C.D. and Angela, shrugging) Come on in.
(As C.D. and Angela come in, Jinny glances at the last occupant standing in the hallway. Captain MacCafferty. She feels awkward, not sure what to do.)
Captain: If you don't want me here, Jinny, I'll leave. But, um, (she taps a fingernail against the plastic container she's holding) I've got the cake. (laughs)
(Jinny is unsure of what to do, she feels angry, but ashamed at the same time. She looks in every direction except at the Captain, thinking of what to do next. She hears her name called from the kitchen and knows she has to make a decision........
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Esperanza 01-04-2002, 05:04 PM This is great!! (you really threw me off with the proposal... which I hope she accepts!) Add more as soon as you can!!!
dovesong 01-04-2002, 10:18 PM Okay, here's more...Did I mention that I have no other life than work and my computer? Doesn't that suck? Okay, one point about this next segment, though. There is a remark made that I think really fits into the scene, but it is kind of (okay maybe a lot) derrogatory. It isn't my general opinion and it isn't made to insult anybody. So, if I offend anybody, I'm REALLY sorry, in advance......
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
......Against her better judgement, she shrugs. She doesn't invite her in, but leaves the door open as she turns to go. The Captain accepts that small gesture and follows Jinny into the kitchen.)
(Magda looks up as Jinny comes into the kitchen, she gives Jinny a smile which broadens and is accompanied with a nod of approval when she sees the Captain walk in behind Jinny. Teddy take the cake out of her arms, set it on the counter, and offers her a chair.)
Captain: Thank you, Mr. Blumenthal, nice to see you again.
Teddy: It's Teddy, (smiling) and it's good to see you again, too, Captain.
Captain: (nodding) Kate, today.
(Jinny is standing in the doorway between the kitchen and the living room. Teddy walks up to her and stops in the doorway with her. Not thinking about the ring still being on he rhand she raises both her hands to his chest as he puts his arms around her. He kisses her.)
Teddy: I'm gonna buzz out for a little while. Leave you guys to you talk. (he kisses her again)
Jinny: You don't have to leave.
All the others: Yeah, you can stay.
Magda: We won't talk about you if you're here, but if you leave, you're fair game. (she winks at him)
Teddy: (thinks about this) I'm not going far. I'll be back soon.
(Jinny follows him to the door. He kisses her again and leaves with the promise of returning after they've had some time to talk.)
(Magda is getting plates when JInny returns to the kitchen. There are only four chairs around the table. Jinny declines a chair and jumps up onto the counter. There is some small chatter while plates are being filled, but once they start eating, there is an overwhelming silence. Jinny looks up occasionally, but concentrates mostly on the food she's pushing around on her plate.)
Jinny: (breaks the silence) So, Cap, (pause) who you got in mind for Magda's new partner? (the room is silent, all eyes are lon the Captain)
Magda: (glaring at Jinny) Jinny!
Captain:(pauses, thinking) Well, Jinny, (another pause, grasping for the right words) Magda already has a new partner.
Jinny: (eyeing the Captain angrily) You've already replace me? (throws hands up in the air) Unbelievable!!!
Captain: Yes. As a matter of fact, Magda, (nodding in Magda's direction) recommended her. (Jinny glares at Magda, Magda's eyes are wide with shock) Thing is, (pauses to make eye contact with Jinny), she doesn't satart for 90 days. I'm taking Magda's word that she's good. Reliable. I hope she doesn't disappoint me.
(Jinny stops and drops her head. She knw she's been had. She knows she's out of line. Jinny looks up at the Captain. She know that she should apologize. She runs her fingers through her hair and sighs, a sigh of defeat.)
Jinny: U guess you're all here to hear me say it. I'm going to rehab. I leave tomorrow. (glaring at the Captain) Are you happy now?
Captain: (chooseing her words carefully) I understand that you're angry right now, Jinny.
Jinny: Oh, yeah, I'm angry.
Captain: If you want to take that anger out on me, that's fine. But I want you to know that I didn't come here to condemn you. I didn't come here to criticize you.
Jinny: Then, tell me. Why are you here?
Captain: I came here to tell you I'm proud of you.
Jinny: (loudly) Proud?! Proud of what? I'm a loser.
Angela: Jinny, one thing you have to learn, is that you can onl be what you believe yourself to be. You have to decide that you are important, and that you have something of value to be offered. If you can't convince yourself that you're worth something, you'll never convince anyone else.
Jinny: (giving Angela a look of complete disgust) What the hell was that? are you a cop or a quack? Cause you're not bery good at either.
Angela: (stands up and turns so that she's face to face with Jinny) What was that? That was the best advice my mother ever gave me before she died. You see, I am a black woman. Society had deemed us pretty useless except as whore. And it doesn't seem that you've classified me any differently. But it doesn't matter what YOU or anyone else thinks about me, because I know that I am competent to do my job. I completed the same training as you did, and I probably had it harder because of the color of my skin. I'm not complaining, I'm making a statement, because that's the way things are, and I'm willing to work a little hard to show people that I am worthy. So suck it up, sister, and show the people that care about you that you are worth all their time and trouble.
(Angela turns around in tears and walks out of the room. Jinny can't do anything but stand with her mouth open and watch her walks away. Madga walks over and puts her arm around Jinny's shoulders. Jinny recovers in short time and laughs.)
Jinny: (laughs sarcastically) I guess I deserved that.
Magda: (disappointment showing) Jinny....
Jinny: (interrupts, apology in her voice) I'm sorry, Mag. (turns to the Captain and C.D.) Look, I'm sorry. this is all new to me...Okay? Talking is not my idea of....
C.D.: Jinny, I won't say that I know how you fee, but my husband and I got married when we were 18, fresh out of high school. When i found out he cheated on me, I thought I would die if I didn't have him there. I didn't know anyting about being alone, being on my own. But I knew that he was bad for me. It took months for me to decide I really didn't need him. My first few night alone were rough, but I've adjusted, and I'm finding that I have more fun not having to worry if he's out with someone else. I know that you have Teddy, but if you come back and you need someone to talk to or well.....
Jinny: Yeah, thanks, C.D. (changing the subject) Well, let's have cake.
(Jinny goes to the cupboard and returns with plates, and a knife to cut the cake. She cuts cake and hands to each of the people in the room. Angela returns and Jinny give her a piece of cake. She pauses as if she may apologize, but turns away instead. As she hands Magda her cake, Magda notices the ring on Jinny's hand. She indicates it with her eyes and gives Jinny a questioning look. Jinny just shakes her head and hands Magda her cake. Magda gives Jinny the "We'll talk about this later ' look and accepts her cake. Apparently, Magda isn't the only one who saw the shiny stone.)
C.D. Jinny, did I see a diamond on that finger?
(Magda laughs. Jinny suddenly becomes shy; trying to hide her hand.)
Magda: Yeah, Jin, is there something you'd like to share with me? Your best friend?
(Magda rescues the hand in question and holds it up for everyone to get a good look at the stone. Jinny is obviously embarrassed. The Captain is sitting back, smiling. She's is happy for Jinny.)
Magda: You're blushing. (Magda teases) You're wearing the ring, Jin. You didn't tell him 'no.'
Jinny: (still obviously embarrassed, but smilling) He asked.
C.D. And you said?
(No noe heard the door shut. Teddy comes into the kitchen. Jinny notices him standing in the doorway.)
Jinny: Hi. (pauses) How long have you been standing there?
Teddy: (just smiles)
(Jinny remember that her hand is still being held up for observation. She pulls her hand away and walks over to Teddy. She kisses him gently.)
Captain: Congratulations, Teddy. Jinny.
Teddy: Thank you, Captain, but, she hasn't said yes yet.
Magda: (smacks Jinny on the arm) You didn't say 'yes?!' What were you thinking?
Jinny: (opens her mouth to speak)
Teddy: Jinny is going to take the time she's gone and do some thinking. About us, (they smiled at each other), about her career, about a lot of things. (pause) Then she's going to come back and tell me 'yes.'
Jinny: Yeah, what he said. (changing the subject) Let's have some cake, anyone want cake? (to Teddy) Ya' want a piece of cake? (everyone laughs)
Well, as I stated earlier, I have no life so here goes........
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Captain: I think we need to go and let Jinny get ready for tomorrow.
(Everyone agrees and gathers their theings. Jinny walks them all to the door, quietly she bids them all goodbye. Magda stays behind once the others are gone. Jinny walks her to the door.)
Jinny: So, what are you going to tell Benny about my being gone? I mean, does he miss me?
Magda: He's asked about you. (pause) I told him you weren't well and that you had to go see some doctors. he said to tell you good luck, he'd miss you, Jin.
Magda: I'm happy for you and Teddy, Jin. You did tell him yes, right?
Jinny: (thoughtfully) I don't get it, Mag. I can hold him and feel clower to him, than I've ever felt with all the guys I just slept with. I don't understand.
Magda: (smiling) You're in love, Jinny. Don't let him slip away. Hold onto him, Jin.
Jinny: Then why do I have trouble saying that one little simple work? I said it to all those other guys, and it didn't hurt a bit, until just now.
Magda: Because this time it's for real, Jin. This time, it means something. This time it might cost you something you weren't willing to give to all those other guys. You heart, Jin. (on her way out the door, she kisses Jinny on the cheek) Think about it, Jin.
******OK, I'M'A SAP!!!!******
(Jinny nods and closes the door behind her. She stands agaisnt the door for a time, and Teddy comes looking for her.)
Teddy: Well? How'd things go?
Jinny: It was a disaster.
Teddy: (making a statement) It went well then. (Jinny laughed) Let's go to bed, Jinny. You've got a long day tomorrow. You'll need all the sleep you can get.
(Jinny nods and follows Teddy into the bedroom. They dress quietly, their backs to each other. Jinny slips a shirt over her head and turns to look at Teddy, briefly. She's thinking about how great he is.)
(Jinny sits on the bed and waits until she feels Teddy do the same. She turns and slide under the covers meeting him half way. They curl up and talk for a while, but Jinny falls asleep in his arms and he is soon sleeping soundly as well.)
(They are awakened by the phone the next morning. Tedy climbs over Jinny to answer it, waking her. He rests straddling her, smiling. She returns his smile and as he talks on the phone, her hand glides up and down his leg.)
Teddy: Hello? (pause) Jinny? Yeah. Who is this? (pause) Okay. Hold on. (hands the phone to Jinny) Ms. Fogelson.
Jinny: (stares at him blankly) Who? What time is it?
Teddy: From the Rehab place, and it's (looking at the clock) 5:30.
Jinny: (taking the phone, but not answering it immediately) What? These people don't think we sleep? (holding the phone to her ear) Hello? (pause) Now? It's 5:30 in the morning. (pause) yeah, right. Of course. I'll pack. 2nd floor, 220. Just knock.
(Jinny doesn't give her time to reply. She hangs up the phone and lays back. Teddy is still on top of her. She looks at him and he smiles.)
Teddy: (sarcastically) No rest for the wicked.
Jinny: (laughs; sits up and kisses Teddy) I need up. She'll be here in 30 and I hae to to shower and pack by then.
Teddy: (nods) I should probably shower with you so that you don't take this opportunity to skip out.
Jinny: I won't be climbing out any windows naked, number one; and number two, if you shower with me, I won't be nearly ready on time. (Teddy gets up, after a quick kiss, Jinny heads to the bathroom ranting like a school girl) I have to do my hair, and my nails, and my...(door slams)
Teddy: (laughs)
(There is a knock on the door and Teddy answers it. There is Ms. Fogelson, smiling.)
Fogelson: Yes, Hi. I'm looking for Jinny Exstead. She said this was her apartment, I think.
Teddy: Yes, I'm Teddy. Come on in. have a seat (motioning toward the couch) I'll tell Jin you're here.
(Ms. Fogelson nods but remains standing as Teddy goes to retrieve Jinny from the bedroom.)
Teddy: Hey, you ready? (slips his arms around her from behind and kisses her neck)
Jinny: (one last look in the mirror) Yeah.
(Jinny walks through to the living room and stops in from of the woman she met the night before last. The woman nods approvingly and smiles. She reaches out to take Jinny's bag, but Jinny grips it tighter. The woman motions Jinny toward the door.)
Foglelson: (quietly) Shall we?
(Jinny takes one last look at the apartment and then at Teddy. He comes to her and kisses her. It was meant to be a short, gentle kiss, but Jinny drops he bag and grabs him with both arms. There is an urgency in her kiss. This is the last time she will see himfor weeks and she desperately want to remember what this is like. They part and stare at each other. Jinny picks up her back and leaves.)
Teddy: I'll let myself out. I love you, Jin. (Jinny doesn't look back.)
Jinny follows Fogelson to the rear of the car and again shuns her offer of help and places her suitcase in the trunk. She then gets in the passenger seat and buckles up. Fogleson gets in and starts the car. They pull out on the road.)
Jinny: Tell me again why I can't drive myself.
Fogelson: Jinn, I'll answer that, but let's talk first. We didn't hit it off well the other day. Can I expect that you're going to be honest and forthcoming with us?
Jinny: (sits quietly staring out the window)
Fogelson: I guess I could make the first gesture. (pauses) We don't get you drive yourself because it makes it too easy for you to walk out; to give up. We want success, Jinny. Who doesn't? Yes, it makes us look good, sure. But you success is key. Our success or failure is marked as a number on a chart. Your success or failure is marked your life, for the rest of your life. I won't promise that you won't feel like a failure at times to begin with, but each small success will build your self-confidence, (pause) and your self-respect. But it all boils down to this: we can't help you, Jinny, if you don't help yourself a little.
Jinny: (still silent, listening)
(They drive the majority of the way in silence. They eventually pull up to the gates of the facility. A guard checks Fogelson's ID and opens the gate for them. They pull around to the fron of a building. Fogelson gets out of the car. Jinny still sits, staring at everything,wondering what she'd gotten herself into. The door is opened from the outside by a man dressed in scrubs.)
Man: Mrs. Exstead? Tom Lathen. We're ready anytime you are. (extends a hand to her)
Jinny: (refuses his offer of assistance and gets out of the car) It's Miss, and I don't need your help.
(The man nods and Jinny follows Fogelson up the front steps and into the building. Fogelson hands Jinny's luggage to another man and then proceeds in the opposite direction. Jinny is unsure of which to follow.)
Fogelson: Follow me, Jinny
Jinny: (follows hesistantly) Those are my things. Where are they taking them?
Fogelson: First they'll search it and then they'll take it to your room.
Jinny: Search it? What for?
Fogelson: Drugs. Alcohol.
Jinny: What? You don't trust me?
Fogelson: (stops and turns, Jinny almost runs into her) Would you trust you, Jinny.
Jinny: (thinks) Probably not..........

Like I said, I've only seen about haf the first season (depressing isn't it?) and I just found this site a few days ago, but I LIKE IT!!!!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fogelson: Would you trust you, Jinny?
Jinny: (thinks) Probably not. But it's clean. I'm clean.
Fogelson: (continuing on) That's what we're going to find out next.
Jinny: What?
(Fogelson opens a door and beckons Jinny to follow her inside. Jinny is hesitant, but follows her. Inside is a doctor's exam room. Fogelson motions for Jinny to sit on the the exam table. Jinny, instead, sits in a chair by the small desk in the room.)
Fogelson: We won't be seeing anymore of each other. I go back to living my life on the outside now. If you need someone to talk to when you get out, please feel free to call me. Officer Ramirez still has my number. Good luck, JInny. You have a lot of people pulling ro you. More than I had. (she turns and leaves)
(Jinny gets up and wanders around the room, looking in cabinets and at other things. There is a knock on the door and it opens. a man sticks his head in the door.)
Man: Um...(looks at the paper in his hand) Jinny....(unsure of himself)
Jinny: It's Exstead. Yeah.
Man: Right. I'm from the lab. I need to draw some blood. (comes in, sets down his supplies)
Jinny: (takes off her jacket, pulls up her sleeve) So what are you drawing blood for?
Man: You really want to know? (he inserts the needle in her vein and looks up)
Jinny: (winces) Yeah.
Man: For drug and alcohol screenings and for basic health screenings, too. We want to make sure you're healthy. (pause) There. Done. Hold pressure here, don't bend your arm, it'll bruise worse. There will be a doctor in shortly. Good luck.
(Jinny gets back up and paces the floor. A knock at the startles her. She turns to find the same gentleman standing before her now as offered her his hand at the car. He motions for her to be seated. She sits as does he.)
Man: (read off paper) MISS (emphasized) Jinny Exstead. I'll introduce myself again. I'm Dr. Tom Lathen. You can call me Dr. Lathen. I need to ask you some questions about yourself. We need to review yours and your immediate families health history, things like that. Do you have any questions before we get started?
Jinny: (shaking her head no) I don't have anything on your list. My dad's an alcoholic, my brother's gay, (sarcastically) if that would be on your list, and by the way and are single?
Lathen: (raises an eyebrow) Married. Happily, thanks. (as an afterthough) To a woman. (smiles) How about your mother? Anything?
Jinny: I don't know. (sarcastically) We could ask her, of course. But she blew her brains out when I was a kid.
Lathen: (winces at the thought) I'm sorry. Do you, um, want to talk about that?
Jinny: (harshly) No.
Lathen: Okay. (changing the subject) So, you're a cop?
Jinny: Was. Was a cop.
Lathen: Was? It was my understanding that you would return to work upon your departure from here.
Jinny: Yeah, that's what they say.
Lathen: So, you're not going back?
Junny: (shrugs)
Lathen: (curiously) You ever been shot?
Jinny: Shot at plenty of times.
Lathen: And you enjoy that?
Jinny: (nods) Enough
Lathen: Enough to give up drinking?
Jinny: (eying him suspiciously) Just what kind of a doctor are you?
Lathen: Psycologist.
Jinny: Figures. (changing the subject) Look, I'm not like those other drunks, okay.
Lathen: Only because you've probably busted half of them for some offense relating to drugs or alcohol. It's not going to be easy for you here, Jinny. You look at these people here Jinny, and you can think you're not like them all you want, but you have to face reality sometime or your time here is nothing but a waste. You're not a DRUNK. You are a person, just like everybody else out there. You are a person with a debilitating disease. A disease that is going to kill YOU just like it will them: in an auto accident, in an overdose, in a drunken shoot out, or from health problems relating to the disease. Alcoholism is just like any other disease out there, Jinny. It kills people just like AIDS or...
Jinny: Let's not there, okay, doc....
Lathen: It's the same thing, Jinny.. Nobody wants to wake up one morning and find out they have AIDS, people die from it. Nobody wants to wake up one morning and discover they're an alcoholic, either. People die from it, too. Unfortunately, it may not be you, but someone else at your hands. You're a cop, Jinny. I shouldn't have to tell you how many people are killed each year from DUI's where the drunk walks away, sometimes, completely unscathed. Do you want that on your hands?
Jinny: (silent, unsure of what to say)
Lathen: Come on. I'll show you to your room.
(Jinny follows dr. Lathen out the door up a couple flights of stairs and down a long hallway. They pass a few people all staring at Jinny. Jinny feels violated just from their stares. She draw her leather jacket around her tightly. Dr. Lathen stops in front of a door. He opens it and allows Jinny to proceed him inside.)
Lathen: It isn't the Hylton, but...
(Jinny stops just insode the door. She sees her suitcase laying on one of the beds. She's thankful there is no one else in the room at the moment. She doesn't look forward to spending the next few weeks with a complete stranger.)
Lathen: You're roommate is in the kitchen helping prepare supper. I thought you could use some time alone.
Jinny: Thank God.
Lathen: Make yourself at home. Dinner is served at 5:00 sharp. I'll as Miranda, your roommate, to show you where the dining room is. After today, you'll be expected to help out. you won't have much free time. It'll help keep your mind off of other things. (changing the subject) You do have to submit to weekly drug tests. It goes by your admission date, so your week will be up on Tuesdays. Don't miss them. You'll also see a phschologist on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Saturday nights are our group meetings. You'll be expected to atten them all. After two weeks, if we've had no trouble out of you, you'll be allowed visitors on Sundays. I'll leave you alone now for a while. (turns and leaves)
(Jinny has been sitting on her bed for several hours, lost in thought. suddenly the door opens and someone bursts into the room.. THis startles Jinny and she immediately reaches for her gun. She realizes the instinctive move and it embarrasses her some. She stares at the girl who can't be much more than 19.)
Jinny: You must be Miranda.
Miranda: Yeah. (she extends a hand to Jinny)
Jinny: (shaking her head) Don't ever do that again. (turns to pick up her jacket) I take it dinner's ready.
Miranda: Yeah, Dr. Lathen asked me to come get you.
Jinny: Let's go.
(Miranda babbles all the way to the dining hall. Jinny has already decided she doesn't like the thought of being roommates with her.)
(Dinner passes without much affiar. There is a lot of conversation, but after the initial introductions, little of it is directed toward Jinny. what little of it is, Jinny shuns with sarcasm. Back in the room, later that night, Jinny is finally unpacking her suitcase. Miranda is watching Jinny over the book she is 'reading.')
Miranda: (finally breaking the silence) How old are you?
Jinny: Old enough.
Miranda: Why are you here?
Jinny: Why are you here?
Miranda: My parents caught me smoking some week with my boyfriend and freaked-out.
Jinny: (scowls and turns back to unpacking)
Miranda: A hint. When you see the quacks, just admit to what they want to hear, and say a bunch of crap like you're really sorry and crap. You'll get out a lot faster.
Jinny: (turns back arouund to Miranda, scowl still in place) Is that a good book?
Miranda: Yeah, it about...
Jinny: Try reading it. (turns back around) And don't think you're staying up late, cause you're not.
Well, I'm off to watch the Nancy marathon on Lifetime....
Let me know what you think, and I'll write more if you still want me to.
Divisionbabe05 01-05-2002, 03:09 PM This is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I need MORE!
dovesong 01-06-2002, 01:26 AM Nancy is such a great actress. I just finished watching the Nancy marathon on Lifetime. I see now why they used to call her faucet face.
Anyways, here's more of my story....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(The next day goes fairly well, Jinny is enlisted to cook and wash dishes for two of the three meals, otherwise her day is free. She is informed that her first meeting will be the following day at 9:00 am and is shown by Dr. Lathen where it will be held.)
(Jinny shows up the next morning at 9:15 to find the doctor waiting for her outside.)
Woman: Jinny Exstead?
Jinny: Yeah. (sarcastically) Sorry I'm late.
Woman: I'm Dr. Milton. (opens the door) Come inside please.
(Dr. Milton takes a seat behind the desk and indicates that Jinny is to sit opposite her.)
Jinny: What? No couch?
Milton: (ignores previous statement) Before we begin, Jinny, I'd like you to know that your conversations with me will be recorded. This is not for the later enjoyment of your peers or any other part here at Kings Point, but for the benefit of myself, and any other physicians or psychologists that may be called in to offer opinion. You don't get to object to this, I just wanted you to be aware that this is how we operate. These tapes are strictly confidential.
(With this, Dr. Milton sets a tape recorder on the desk and turns it on.)
Milton: (to tape recorder) New patient. Virginia Exstead, Jinny; 32; female; Dr. Laten. Inspector with a local police detatchment. Now.....
Milton: Why are you here, Jinny?
Jinny: (laughs) You don't know?
Milton: What I want to know is, do you know?
Jinny: Yes.
Milton: I'd like to hear you say it.
Jinny: My friends think I drink too much.
Milton: Do you?
Jinny: (doesn't answer immediately) Maybe.
Milton: Maybe? It's a simple question. Do you drink in excess?
Jinny: Yes. I guess I do.
Milton: Did that hurt?
Jinny: Depends.
Milton: Anything other than your pride?
Jinny: (smiles, looks down, avoiding Dr. Milton's eyes)
Milton: Didn't think so. I spoke to Sandra Fogelson, the lady that did your intervention. SHe filled me in on a little of your history. (reads from chart) Your mother's death. History of alcoholism in the family. Underage drinking. Most recently, your suspension for appearing at a crime scene intoxicated. Um, how do I say this? You don't have the healthiest of personal lives...
Jinny: What? You talking about my sex life or my eating habits?
Milton: What do you think?
Jinny: Since when does my sex life have to be a part of this?
Milton: It's destructive.
Jinny: Meaning?
Milton: You have had sex wiht people you don't ever know. Numerous people. You don't bother to learn their names, do you ask about sexually transmitted diseases?
Jinny: (struggles to stay calm, trying to say something) God! You people! You know, I actually agreed to this. Like the intervention wasn't insult enough I have to come here and listen to you down me? This is supposed to theraputic? THis is supposed to help me how? I don't get it. I mean...
Milton: Jinny, I'm not here to put you down. Your attitude is completely unnecessary....
Jinny: Oh. My attitude? What's wrong with my attitude?
Milton: (stares quietly, giving both an opportunity to calm down) Jinny, it's understandable that you feel you have to defend yourself. Your actions. But you've come here because, whether you want to admit it or not, you've realized that you need help dealing with that problem. You came here for help. I want to help you, but I can't smack you on the forehead and heal you. It's not nearly that simple. You have to give a lot. The majority of your success or failure is on your head.
Jinny: And that's supposed to comfort me?
Milton: If you're not willing to admit that you have a problem; if you're not willing to accept that you can't quit unless you without help; if you can't openly talk about your drinking and what you think causes it, if you're not willing to open yourself up to someone else's advice, and that advice sometimes comes in the form of criticism; all of this, it won't help. You'll walk out of here, and in two days be back to your old self. Can you accept these terms? There's a lot at stake here for you. Your friends, your job, your reputation, and from the looks of the ring on your finger, a pretty great guy. You don't seem to want to start with your drinking so do you want to start by telling me about him?
Jinny: (looks at the ring and smiles, looks up and shrugs) He's a really great guy.
Milton: He has a name?
Jinny: Theodore. He's really special.
Milton: How long you been seeing him?
Jinny: Six months.
Milton: Is he one of the guys you met at the bar?
Jinny: (smiles, even though that hurt) NO. He's and ADA. I met hiim at work, kind of. He was mugged one day. I took his report.
Milton: Was it love at first sight?
Jinny: No. Well, I don't know. He asked me out then, but I said no.
Milton: But you liked him then?
Jinny: He was different. I actually remember our meeting. Most guys, I wake up to the next morning and wonder where they came from. (sarcastically) But then, I guess I always know.
Milton: You were doing so well, too.
Jinny: Sorry. It's just that, we've been going out for six months. all of that time, he's never asked me to have sex. I don't get it. That's just about all I'm good at, and he doesn't seem to care. Did I tell ya, I got drunk and crashed his birthday party? Ex-fiance, parents, all his closest friends were there. He was pretty upset.
Milton: You changed the subject awfully fast.
Jinny: What?
Milton: The sex?
Jinny: Oh, yeah. That. I thought you wanted to hear about my drinking.
Milton: I want to hear about you, Jinny. If you don't feel comfortable talking about your drinking right now, let's talk about sex.
Jinny: (laughs, sarcastically) Are you hittin' on me, doc?
Milton: (laughs, too) Hardly. So the two of you haven't had sex? Why do you think that is?
Jinny: Either he's gay, or I don't know, Maybe he's gay.
Milton: he proposed to you.
Jinny: Yeah, did I mention he had and ex-fiance? Her name was Jenny, with an 'e.'
Milton: You're wearing his ring. You said yes.
Jinny: No, actually, I haven't yet.
Milton: Why?
Jinny: Thinking about that.
Milton: Do you want to rationalize? Run some of those thoughts by me? Get an objective opinion?
Jinny: (thinking) Why me? I turned the guy down five times before I finally said yes. He isn't interested in me for sex. That's obvious. All he ever says is "When the time is right." I mean, we're laying there in bed right? And we're kissing and all that and I just freeze, and it's okay with him. We lay there, we talk, we go to sleep. I've actually SLEPT wiht this man. I feel like we've been intimate, but (grasping for what to say) (sarcasm wins out again) I know his name. I'm scared. Most guys I have sex with, I never see again. He comes back. I don't know why.
Milton: Ever occur to you that he could be in love?
Jinny: In love? With me? People love me for one thing. They get that, they're gone.
Milton: You're way too hard on yourself.
Jinny: I'm hard on myself? You shoudl meet my family, my friends. Hell, you should meet my boss.
Milton: In due time.
Jinny: Meaning?
Milton: We're going in circles, Jinny. Our time is up today. Unless you feel the need to discuss something else?
Jinny: No. Can I leave?
Milton: Soon. But before you leave, I want you to think of three positive things about Jinny Exstead.
Jinny: Excuse me?
Milton: Three things that you like about yourself. Simple things will get you by today. I'll expect more indepth things from now on, but you've done nothing down yourself today. I want to hear you say something positive about yourself. And i want you to think about those things until Tuesday, because then you'll have to add to that list.
Jinny: OH, come on.
Milton: (shrugs, waiting)
Jinny: Oh, okay. (thinking) I have great hair, I...(long pause, struggling) I am a good friend. God that sounds cheezy. And, (longer pause), I don't know.
Milton: Are you good at your job?
Jinny: I used to think I was.
Milton: Good enough. We'll talk about that Tuesday. So do some thinking on that and I'll expect another positive trait, then, too, so keep thinking. (as Jinny is leaving) And Jinny...
Jinny: What?
Milton: I'm writing you a script for Paxil. I want you to start taking it in the morning.
Jinny: What's that? You get me off booze by druggin' me up? No thanks.
Milton: It's an anti-depressant, Jinny. Once it gets into your syste, it'll help with some of your feelings of inadequacy. I'm also writing you one for Ativan, 0.5 mg, prn; low dose, but it should help you sleep at night, if you need it, just ask for it. It doesn't mean you're weak.
Jinny: (rolls her eyes and walks out)
(Friday and Saturday are pretty uneventful for Jenny. She still isn't getting along with her roommate. tonight's group meeting held Jinny's thoughts for most of the day. She wasn't sure she was prepared to stand up in fron of a bunch of strangers and reveal to them her entire life story. Dr. Milton and Dr. Lathen had told her she wouldn't have to talk much tonight, but that she would be expected to introduce herself and tell everyone why she was there, then she'd have to listen closely as the other ladies spoke. Jinny was a good listener.)
(Once the dinner dishes are cleaned and put away, Jinny goes upstairs to get ready for the meeting. Miranda is there dressing, having alread been in the shower. She sees Jinny come in and frowns.)
(Jinny's returned scowl is no source of comfort and Miranda turns back to the mirror to finish doing her hair and makeup.)
Miranda: If you're going to shower, I haven't picked up my towels het. Just kick them out of the way, I'll get them later.
Jinny: (on the way to the bathroom with her things) Yeah, sure.
(Miranda eyes her as she closes the door. She wishes she were as tough as Jinny. But if she were that tough, she wouldn't be mean to everybody, just those that deserved it.)
(Jinny gets out of the shower and finds Miranda gone. Thank God, she thinks to herself. She gets dressed and heads to the dining room for this meeting.)
(Jinny walks in and everyone stops what they're doing to look at her. Then they go back to their gossiping. Jinny takes a chair along a far wall and waits to get started.)
Lathen: Okay folks, gather your chairs into a circle, and let's get started. (when all settles) This is our newest resident. Compliments of being new, Jinny, we'll let you introduce yourself last, so that you get a feel of how things are done around here. So let's get started. Sasha, you want to start?
(A Hispanic lady stands up and looks around the room.)
Sasha: Hi, everybody. My name is Sasha, I'm 28, and I'm an alcoholic. I'm here because this is the last chance I get to dry out before they take my babies for good.
(Each person goes around the room introducing themselves in much the same manner. Some state drugs as their ticket here, others, alcohol. Each person's story is just as pathetic. Finally, it comes to Jinny. She stands and looks around for a brief moment.)
Jinny: I'm Jinny, I'm 32, and I'm here because my friends think I have a drinking problem.
Sasha: You're an alcoholic just like the rest of us. You can't sugar coat it with fancy words. Until you're ready to admit that, you're wasting your time here. I've been around this game enough to know.
Jinny: (sarcastically) I'll keep that in mind.
Lathen: (interrupting their conversation) Anyone have a good week they'd like to share with us?
Sasha: I saw my babies last week. They've grown so much in the two months I've been here. I'm supposed to get to home next weekend, and then if I stay sober for a month, they'll let me have my babies back on a trial basis. (crying) I'm really excited. I just wanted to let you all know that you've helped me so much, and I'm in the book, if you get out and want to come visit. But only if you're clean, and sober.
Miranda: I saw my sister last week for the first time. She cried a lot. She says mom and dad are still mad at me. I don't think they'll ever forgive me. (tears) I just wanted my boyfriend to like me. I never thought about what we wre doing. Just that when we did it, he'd love me more.
(Several women spoke of good things that had happened to them throughout the week. Many spoke of heartaches, as well. I seemed that several of them had children that they were on the verge of losing, or had already lost. Jinny was glad that she didn't have to worry about that. Though, she did have to admit that she missed Ben.)
Sasha: What about you, Jinny? You got any kids?
Jinny: (annoyed) No. Single, too.
Sasha: You don't have to be so negative. Sarcasm doesn't get you anywhere.
Jinny: In my line of work, it gets me everywhere.
Miranda: What do you do?
Jinny: Let's just say, that I hve an honest job, and I make enough to pay the bills and still get plastered every night.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, what do you think so far? Keep going? or no?
Ok! Jinny: Queen of Sarcasm! I LOVE THIS! IT IS SO ASWESOME! MORE PLEASE!
dovesong 01-06-2002, 12:39 PM You guys know just what to say to make a girl feel special (sniff, sniff)..........
Here's a little more, but I'm gonna have think faster and write more or I'm gonna have to slow down on posting for a while.....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sasha: And you enjoy that?
Jinny: Didn't you?
Sasha: (shaking her head, sadly) No. Not really. I used it as a method of escaping. I had a great job, but I met this guy. He was so wonderful, but the longer I was with him, the meaner he got. He made me quit my job, then I couldn't leave thehouse, not even to walk to then end of the driveway to check the mail. He started beating me every nigt. I got pregnant, and I thought that maybe he'd like me more, but...(shrugs) So I started drinking to forget. Then he found another woman and left me and the kids. I drank to forget that I didn't have the money to fee them, and clothe them and the care of them properly. All I wanted to do was forget all my problems. But then I'd wake up and they'd be worse, because I drake the rent and we'd have to leave, and it just got to the point that my neighbors call CPS on me. (crying softly) They came and took my babies and...
(A woman who had introduce herself as Megan earlier, put her arm around Sasha. Sasha put her hand on Meagan's. She took a deep breath.)
Sasha: But I'm ready to be responsible for my babies, now. I'm ready to be what I couldn't be then. I'm a stronger person now.
(A few others spoke. Jinny listened to the stories. They all seemed to be like Jiny's .... Everyone watned to forget one bad thing or a series of bad events in their lives. Jinny felt sorry for them. She felt sorry for herself. She saw that they had all become closer to each other druing their time here. She wanted that. Wanted to be able to trust someone like that. But she was afraid. They all had believable stories. What made hers any different? She wasn't willing to open herself up to that possible criticism. They criticized her enough as she was.)
Lathen: Jinny, you never answered Sasha's question. Did you enjoy being drunk every night?
Jinny: (doesn't speak, looks away, frowning)
Lathen: I'll take that as a no.
Sasha: They why'd you do it?
Jinny: For the same reason you did.
Sasha: To forget?
Lathen: Want to talk about it?
Jinny: No. (gets up and walks out)
****(Tuesday, Jinny's session with Dr. Milton)****
Milton: Good morning, Jinny. How was your weekend?
Jinny: Peachy. Yours?
Milton: Fine. How was your first group meeting?
Jinny: (eying her) You really think I need to go into that?
Milton: (smiles, nods)
Jinny: Right. Well, let's see. My roommate, who hated me before, likes me even less now. Um, Sasha? Yeah, I htink that's her name, ditto. I think that goes pretty much for the rest of them, too.
Milton: I talked to your roommate last week. Seems she doesn't think you've hit it off well. Why do you think that is?
Jinny: You like asking me that, don't you? Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I'm, oh, 32, and she's, oh, maybe 19? Do you see any common interests here doc?
Milton: She's 20. Not that that is any of your business.
Jinny: I've busted 20 just like her for possession, and their boyfriends, too.
Milton: We'll come back to Miranda. Speaking of your employment, Jinny. You said last week that you didn't think you were a good cop anymore. I'd ask you why, but you don't seem to like that. So, Explain that.
Jinny: (rolls her eyes) Please.
Milton: I'm listening.
Jinny: Okay. My boss, she's always on my case. Nothing I do maker her happy.
Milton: Do you think it has anything to do with the fact that you show up for work intoxicated? I'm referring only to the events that led up to your suspension.
Jinny: Only to those events? Meaning?
Milton: I've spoken to your captain. Thisisn't the only incident in which she's found you intoxicated, or had you coming in to work with a hangover. or the several times she cited that you've called in sick, with a hangover. You think that might have an inpact on her opinion of you? Or at least your work ethic?
Jinny: (tired) I can't argue with that.
Milton: I didn't think so. (pauses, watching Jinny) So tell me, Jinny. How do you feel?
Jinny: (looks curious, questioning) You mean honestly, or...?
Milton: (nods) Honestly.
Jinny: (sighs loudly, sarcasm gone) I could use a drink.
Milton: (nods approvingly) That's what I wanted to hear.
Jinny: (fired up again) Excuse me?
Milton: Had you said anything else, I'd have called you a liar.
Jinny: So when is this going to go away? This feeling. These craving.
Milton: Honestly, Jinny? It never goes away.
Jinny: Great. What am I doing here then?
Milton: We're not here to make it go away. We're here, Jinny, to teach you how to deal with it. If we kept you here until you didn't desire it anymore, you'd never leave. Eventually, yes, the craving will less, some. But they'll never go away, not completely. You just have to learn to be strong. To resist those cravings. That'll get easier, too. You wouldn't commit you life to a PERSON who was bad for you, don't commit yourself to this monster, either.
Jinny: I have no trouble at all committing to the guys that are bad for me, but I can't commit to Theodore, whose been nothing but good for me. How am I NOT supposed to let alcohol rule me?
Milton: Jinny, you just have to be strong and not give in. But there's another key to your success in this, Jinny. That is acepting you weaknesses and learning to depend on others Jinny. Learning to trust people. You go on a call with a partner you trust, you have to build that trust. You have to learn to trust people in general, Jinny.
Jinny: In my profession, it pays not to be to trusting.
Milton: That's understandable, but JInny, all of these women are here for the same reason you are. They understand that people have flaws. They are flawed. They are forgiving people.
Jinny: Forgiving until they find out I'm a cop.
Milton: (exasperated) You have to learn to trust someone, Jinny.
Jinny: I do. I trust myself.
Milton: sits quietly for a moment, then) Tell me about your mother, Jinny.
Jinny: (stands up quickly, agitated) That's none of you're d***ed business. (paces)
Milton: I see. (pauses, watching) Feel guilty?
Jinny: Shut up!
(Jinny and Dr. Milton lock eyes. The anger and toment shin in Jinny's eyes. You see the tears wanting to spill, but Jinny won't allow them.)
Milton: I know about your mother, Jinny.
Jinny: How?
Milton: Sandra Fogelson.
Jinny: (turns away. pacing)
Milton: (compassionately) Sit down, Jinny.
Jinny: (shakes her head, afraid to speak, sniffs)
(Dr. Milton walks around the desk. She approaches Jinny who is extremely shaken. She puts her hands on Jinny's arms. Jinny pushes her away and walks to the window. She looks out, unseeing.)
Milton: Have you been taking the Paxil, Jinny?
Jinny: (nods)
Milton: And the Ativan at night?
Jinny: No.
Milton: Have you been sleeping at night?
Jinny: (no response)
Milton: Why not?
Jinny: (still no response)
Milton: Tell me, Jinny. Do you still see her?
Jinny: (nods, breaks down, sobbing.)

Okay, time to go play Barbie (I hate Barbie) with my daughter. And then maybe make some cotton candy. Children are soooooooooooooo wonderul. ta ta for now
Divisionbabe05 01-06-2002, 02:09 PM whoa whoa whoa...u stopped there?!?!?!? This is sooooooo AWESOME!!!!!!!!!
AllIWantIsYourClutch 01-06-2002, 03:51 PM MORE MORE MORE!!!!!
(Lil note.......my mom was on Paxil. She wasn't depressed though. The docs gave it to her for a different reason. Then she had a seizure and they didnt give her any pills because everyone thought it was the Paxil.....until she had another seizure, fell off the bed and broke her neck.....)
dovesong 01-06-2002, 07:43 PM Thank you all again for the positive words (ha ha). Sorry to hear about your mom NancyRulz, is she okay now? I hope.
Well, not that I expect anyone to read this for a while anyways, with The Division coming on soon, but I'll write it anyways and it'll be here when it's off.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(Jinny puts her hands over her face and sobs hards. She's exhausted. Sh'es tired of fighting. She wants so badly to trust this woman, but she just can't.....can she?)
Jinny: (quietly) How much did that lady tell you about my mother?
Milton: (shocked) Just that she committed suicide and that you were the one that found her.
Jinny: They tell you I was only 14. (screaming) FOURTEEN!!!!!
Milton: Yes, they did tell me that. I'm sorry, Jinny. I won't say I know how you feel, because I don't. But, many of those women out there have lost someone close to them. I'm sure they could sympathize....
Jinny: (too loudly) I don't want their sympathy!!!!!
Milton: Maybe sympathize wasn't the appropriate word. They can understand your loss, your pain. Sasha's kids aren't dead, but don't you think that she misses not being able to hold them? Don't you think that's a BIG loss for her? Jinny, I'm trained to be a sympathetic year....(Jinny interrupts)
Jinny: (sarcastically) Oh, yeah? Ask any bartender in town, I'm a sympathetic ear.
Milton: Jinny, I've been trained to listen and give appropriate responses, ask the appropriate questions to make you consider your problems in a way that you haven't before. That's how we solve your problems. These women, Jinny, they've been there. If you would just listen to them, they can help you get back. But you have to trust someone, you have to be willing to follow for a change.
(Dr. Milton pauses to give Jinny time to let this sink in.)
Milton: It's time to stop running, Jinny. Standup and face this. Why do you feel guilty about your mother's death?
Jinny: (shrugs)
Milton: If you don't want to talk to me, talk to the wall, I don't care. Just get it out of your system.
Jinny: I don't know. Maybe....maybe if I'd gotten better grades or if I'd helped with the housework a little more, or if I'd tried to get along better with John, Jr...(pauses, thinking) She'd say, "I don't know what I'm going to do with you guys, I just don't know." and we'd just look at her and keep fighting.
Milton: And you think that made her love you less?
Jinny: I don't know. Something did.
Milton: Jinny, she gave birth to you. She fed you, clothed you, and loved you for all those years. Do you really think that one day she decided that she didn't love you anymore?
Jinny: (angry) She woke up one day and decided something that made her kill herself. What gives you the right to make a determination like that?
Milton: I'm a parent. I have three teenagers that are constantly fighting, and as much as I tire of that, I still love them, and I'd never want to leave or kill myself because of them.
Jinny: (still angry) Then tell me, doc. What was so bad in my mother's life that she'd step out on me like that? On US like that!?!
Milton: Jinny, I didn't know your mother and I won't sit her and make guesses about why she did it. She obviously had some issues that needed dealt with. Was she seeing someone, Jinny? A doctor? Someone that could have been treating her for depression or anxiety disorders or anything like that?
Jinny: I don't know.
Milton: Perhaps if she had, she wouldn't have done it. All we can do is guess. Maybe she though she was handling it and could deal with it on her own. Like alcoholism, Jinny, some mental disorders can sneak up on you. Make think you're okay and don't need help. If she was sick, Jinny, it's really hard to tell what she was thinking. So, don't blame yourself. Don't rationalize this by making it your fault.
(Jinny is crying quietly. She wants to fight back, to tell this doctor she doesn't know what she's talking about. Jinny desperately wants to believe her. She wants to believe it wasn't her fault. She wants to be able to think about her mother again and not end up feeling so guilty. She's struggling with all the things going through her mind. She really wants to believe.)
Milton: You don't have kids, do you, Jinny?
Jinny: No. Lucky them.
Milton: Jinny, if you ever have kids, you'll know how special they are.
Jinny: Magda's little boy is sweet. I tell him stories sometimes.
Milton: (surprised that Jinny is freely offering information) Would you want to anything to yourself, knowing how much it would hurt him?
Jinny: (shakes her head)
Milton: Now do you understand the point that I'm trying to make?
Jinny: (nods)
Milton: Well, (looks at clock) our time was up a half hour ago. Do you need more time or do you feel confident enough to walk out there and face the crowd?
Jinny: yeah, I'm okay. (stands and goes to leave)
Milton: Oh, Jinny.
Jinny: (stops and turns)
Milton: Congratulations, you made it through your first week. (holds up a urine specimen cup) Pee in the cup. (points) That bathroom. There's no sink in there, and don't flush.
Jinny returns from the bathroom and hands her back the cup. Again, she turns to leave, but is stopped)
Milton: Jinny, don't forget you ticket out of here. One positive aspect of Jinny Exstead.
Jinny: Oh, yeah. Um...(stops and thinks for a minute) I tell good stories.
Milton: (nods) Bye. Thursday.
(Jinny survived the rest of the week with little incident. She stilll refused to associate with the other ladies; other than what was required for their chores. She snapped at any personal questions, and walked away from any others' conversations that became personal. Frida came and Jinny was just beginning to think she'd survived another week.)
(Friday evening came around and Jinny had gone to the vending machines for her sixth soda of the day. On her way back through the dining room, she heard a commotion. Jinny turns just in time to see a woman twice her size pick up a chair and come at her. Jinny sets her soda down and ducks just in time to miss the first swing. Standing back up....)
Jinny: What the hell was that for?!?!?!
Lady: You B****!!! Let's see how tough you are when you're not packin' heat. (throws the cair down and comes at Jinny swinging)
(Jinny blocks the first swing but misses the second. It catches Jinny in the jaw. It throws Jinny off balance. Jinny turns back around to find the woman's hands going around her throat.)
(They struggle for a few seconds and Jinny really get mad. She takes her foot and drills it into the woman's knee causing her to stumble slightly. Jinny takes this opportunity to try to restrain the woman. She wrestles the woman's arms around behind her and slams her into the nearest wall.)
Jinny: Tough enough.
(About that time Jinny felt herself being grabbed from behind and pulled backwards. Unsure of what else could go wrong, as this person turns Jinny around, she swings, catching the orderly square in the nose and knocking him backwards off his feet. She felt two more people grap her and felt the bite of the needle settle into her arm. She struggles against the powerful arms that are holding her until she begins to feel lightheaded and slumps to the ground.)
(Kate MacCafferty is sitting at her desk Saturday morning, reading over the case load. She is scribbling orders on a file when the phone rings.)
Captain: MacCafferty. (pause) Yes, Dr. Milton. (pause) Jinny? Oh, God. Is there anything I can do? (pause) (reaches for a scratch pad and scribbles a name) Yes. I'll see what I can come up with. How's she doing otherwise? (pause) Great. Giver her my best wishes. And tell her I said to straighten up and get back here soon. We need her. (pause) Okay. Thanks, bye.
(Captain MacCafferty hangs up the phone and puts her head on her desk. She's disappointed.)
(Magda, C.D. and Angela are sitting at their desks, talking; waiting for the Captain to come out with the days new cases.)
C.D.: So, Magda, how'd it got last night with Gabriel?
Magda: Wel, we're talking about things a little better now. He wants to move in, but we've decided to put that step off for a little longer. Ben would love it, but I'm just not sure that Garbiel is gonna stay around. I mean, he's been here two months, but he's been gone eight years. That's a lot to make up for.
C.D.: I know. Don't rush things, we don't want you unhappy, too.
Angela: So, you going to see Jinny tomorrow?
Magda: Yeah, Teddy and I are going up there. We're going to take her some more things, bath stuff and such. They would only let her bring the basics when she first left. Now they'll let her have a few amenities from home.
(The Captain walks out of her office and leans up against the door frame. She sighs and looks at her three remaining Inspectors. She shakes her head.)
Captain: My office and shut the door.
(She doesn't wait for them to get up and follow, but returns to the comfort of her chair and waits for the others to get comfortable.)
C.D.: Captain, is everything okay?
Captain: (shakes her head and puts her hands up to massage her temples) It's Jinny. She got in a fight yesterday.
Magda: Oh, no. Is she all right? What happened? Is she hurt?
C.D.: Question is, Mag, is someone else hurt?
Captain: (holds up her hands to stop the questions) Everything is being smoothed over as we speak, hopefully. Dr. Milton called a few minutes ago. Said that Jinny was attacked yesterday by another patient. I did some research. Apparently, this patient's daughter, Magda, was the one whose boyfriend Jinny shot a couple months ago.
Magda: (thinks for a moment) Oh, yeah, what was his name? Sargent? Yeah, he ran. Jinny ended up shooting him in the leg. She didn't hurt him, they didn't even admit him to the hospital.
Captain: Well, apparently Mamma isn't too happy. She attacked Jinny. She tried to choke Jinny, but Jinny got free. She got her restrained, after shattering the lady's kneecap. When the orderlies arrived, it was Jinny they saw....well, you know. One of the orderlies tried to pull Jinny off the woman, and Jinny didn't wait to see who grabbed her, just came around swinging. Broke his nose, concussion. Thankfully, there were witnesses in Jinny's favor. No charges are being pressed, the woman is being transferred, but from my understanding, Jinny isn't too happy right now. They apparently gave Jinny a sedative, knocked her out, restraints, you know the drill. (all are quiet for a few minutes)
Magda: (laughs a little, sounds sympathetic) Now Jinnyknows what it's like to be on the other side of the law. I'm sure she realizes how much she's gotten away with by being in law enforcement. Maybe this will teach her a lesson.
Captain: Well, Magda Ramirez, are you finally mastering the finer points of "Tough Love?" I'm proud of you.
Magda: (smiles, shrugs) She's been coddled for a long time. That approach didn't work very well. She give you an idea of how Jinny is going otherwise?
Captain: (smiles) She's not getting along with the other residents or patients, or whatever you want to call them. But Dr. Milton assures me her counseling sessions are doing wonders. She say that Jinny is opening up wonderfully. She says that she thinks Jinny has the potential to overcome this, and really seems to want to; now that she's sober enough to understand the concept of being sober.
Magda: I'm really glad.
Captain: Enough talk. Cases.
~~~~~~~~*******~~~~~~~~
(Jinny wakes up groggy. She makes an effort to rub her eyes, but cannot manage to raise her arms. She opens her eyes wider and looks around. She's in an unfamiliar place, like a hospital. She tries to sit up but she can't because of her arms.)
Jinny: Damn!
Lathen: Good morning, Jinny. How are you feeling? (disposing of a syringe in the sharps container across the room)
Jinny: Go to hell! What was that?
Lathen: Cranky aren't we? Just a little something to, um, calm you down. It'll make you feel better.
Jinny: What am I doing here?
Lathen: You were in a fight yesterday, remember?
Jinny: (defensively) That wasn't my fault! That woman attacked me! What? I can't defend myself? What was I supposed to do, stand there and let her beat the crap out of me? I don't think so!
Lathen: Violence is not permitted here.
Jinny: (raises her arms) Let me go!
Lathen: (coming closer, too close for Jinny) I can't, not yet. You need to calm down first.
Jinny: I'm as calm as I'm gonna get until you untie me!
Lathen: Well then, I'm afraid we have a problem.
Jinny: (rolls her eyes and looks away)
(Jinny hears the door open and another person enter the room.)
Lathen: Dr. Milton, thank you for coming in today. I'm really sorry for having to ask you to do this.
Milton: It's quite all right. Just give me some time to speak with her.
(Dr. Lathen leaves. Milton approaches Jinny's bed, but Jinny doesn't look at her.)
Milton: Want to talk about it?
Jinny: Does it look like I'm in the mood to talk?
Milton: You want released? (as an afterthough) From the bed?
Jinny: (raises her arms as far as she can as an indication) I need to go to the bathroom.
Milton: (she presses the releases on the restraints) We have to discuss this, Jinny. You want to talk here or my office?
Jinny: Neither sounds very appealing. (sitting on the side of the bed and rubbing her wrists) Who was that and what'd I do to her?
Milton: Go to the bathroom and we'll go to my office and talk.
(In Dr. Milton's office)
Milton: What happened yesterday?
Jinny: (shrugs) I don't know. I walked down stairs, she came after me. I did what I had to do to defend myself. I didn't hurt her. I'm a 3rd degree black belt in karate, if I'd wanted to hurt her.....
Milton: You busted her kneecap. Then you broke the intern's nose and hit him hard enough to give him a concussion.
Jinny: I didn't hurt her. That'll heal. Why'd she attack me?
Milton: Just stay away from her.
Jinny: (angry) Stay away from her!?! I don't recall antagonizing her at all. I don't belong here. These people (indicating towards the door) they're crazy. She wasn't playing around, (indicating the marks still on her neck) she tried to kill me in case you didn't notice!!
Milton: It didn't look like you wre having too much trouble defending yourself. You just need to try to calm down.
Jinny: (even angrier) Oh, so now it's self-defense?! So, for defending myself, I get shot full of God only knows what and tied to a bed? And you want me to CALM DOWN!!!
Milton: Yes.
Jinny: Well forget it! I want out of here and I want out of here TODAY!!
Milton: I'm sorry, Jinny. I can't do that.
Jinny: (slams her fist down on the desk) And why not!?!
Milton: (calmly, unblinking) That may work in your profession, but it won't get you anywhere here. Sit down.
Jinny: I don't want to sit down.
Milton: (raises her voice, slightly for the first time) Sit down.
Jinny: Now you sound like my Captain.
Milton: (thinking) Violence is not permitted here, Jinny. It may work well in your profession, but not here. I understand you were being attacked, and I'm willing to forget this happened, all things considered. Fortunately for you, these ladies have sympa...(considers word, changes it) have an understanding of your situation, and though they don't particularly care for you or your attitude, they've made sure that we know what happened, because frankly from the perspective of the orderlies, you were looking pretty guilty. But the, they only caught the last half of the, what do you call it, altercation?
Jinny: Altercation (sarcastically) yeah. Great. So tell me, why did she attack me.
Milton: I don't have to share that information with you, but since your captain was the one who shared it with me, I figure you'll find out soon enough. I ran the name by Captain MacCafferty and she did some checking and found that you worked on a case a few months ago. She didn't give me a name. Said that you'd busted her daughter and boyfriend for drugs. Boyfriend ran. You shot him.
Jinny: (rolls her eyes in recognition of the case) I shot him in the leg to keep him from running. It was a superficial wound. They dressed it at the hospital and sent him back home, or well, to jail. I can't believe this. (Jinny gets up and paces)
Milton: (watches Jinny pace for a few minutes) Tell me what you're thinking, Jinny.
Jinny: (stops and stares at Dr. Milton, she sighs and shakes her head) Nothing.
Milton: Honesty, Jinny.
Jinny: Like it's hard to figure out.
Milton: (laughs out loud) Sobriety is rough isn't it?

dovesong 01-07-2002, 05:03 PM Well, okay, just as long as I know someone still cares.....
The next couple of posts may be a little long and drawn out, but bear with it, it's getting better or at least more interesting.......
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jinny: (looks away) And it doesn't get any easier?
Milton: Not for a long time. Look, I'm having the woman transferred to another facility. For your (pause) I'd say safety, but...
Jinny: When can I go home?
Milton: You've been here two weeks. You're already asking to leave? Let me ask you this, How do you feel after being sober for two weeks?
Jinny: Lousy. That's all I think about. (laughs)
Milton: (curious) What was that laugh for?
Jinny: (holds up hand with engagement ring on it) Speaking of thinking about drinking, Theodore proposed to me before I came up here. I couldn't say yes. He told me to think about it while I was here, instead of thinking abou the drinking. I haven't even given it a thought.
Milton: I've got all day. Want to talk about it?
Jinny: (shaking her head) I don't know.
Milton: How long have you been together?
Jinny: Six months.
Milton: Your longest relationship?
Jinny: There was one other guy. We dated my senior years of high school and for a little while after. Until he found out I was entering the Police Academy. He didn't want me to. He'd known that's what I wanted to do, but I guess he thought I'd give that up for him. I haven't seen him since I entered the academy.
Milton: Any other guys?
Jinny: Too many to name. Half of them, I've forgotten their names, the other half, I never knew. I'd get drunk, I'd find me a guy. We'd go back to his place or my place and well....
Milton: I think at one time you were probably proud of that.
Jinny: I joke about it. I don't think I was ever proud of it. I think I was just oo ashames of myself; to used to knowing that was what I was. Even my brother calls me 'his slut sister.' I think I just didn't think I could change it. (pauses, sarcastically) Did that just come from my mouth?
Milton: (nods)
Jinny: I gotta get out of here doc, I'm starting to sound like....
Milton: (laughs) (serious now) The alcohol is out of your system. You're seeing yourself more clearly. You're beginning to realize that you have some self-worth. Doesn't that feel good, compared to how you were feeling?
Jinny: I think so, most of the time.
Milton: Good enough for now. So you told Theodore, no.
Jinny: I told him I don't know. He told me to wear the ring and think about it. I told him I'd do that.
Milton: But you haven't. Why not? Does he make you feel uncomfortable?
Jinny: (looks confused)
Milton: Jinny?
Jinny: (struggles with what to say) Yes, I guess. But in a good way, I think. I don't know. Does that sound stupid?
Milton: Not necessarily. Explain.
Jinny: I've slept with tons of guys, never gave it a second thought. Every time Teddy and I come close, I back out.
Milton: Scared he'll hurt you?
Jinny: Scare he won't be there in the morning. (looks down, ashamed to have said it)
Milton: Do you love him? (Jinny nods) Do you trust him? (nods again) Trust him then. (repeating) So you told him you didn't know if you could marry him.
Jinny: Yeah, and I guess you're gonna ask why.
Milton: (laughs) Want to trade jobs?
Jinny: No thanks. I really don't know that. I love, I trust him, I want to spend the rest of my life with him, but... I just can't. I don't know.
Milton: You're afraid he'll find out you're not flawless. that you have good days and bad days. I'm telling you, Jinny you've got to learn to trust. You say you trust him, but look at yourself. If you're afraid he'll leave the first time you screw up, you're not trusting him. Not completely. That's something the two of you need to talk about. You need to tell him how you feel, truthfully. Tell him that everybody important to you has left you and you feel like he will too. You mom, your first love, and all the men in between. But you've got to let that go at some point, Jinny, or you'll never be happy. And you do deserve to be happy. If he makes you happy, go for it. (Jinny Nods) Just make sure that you keep the channels of communication open and never go to bed mad. Even if you have to stay up all night. My mother told me why. Lose a night or two of sleep and I guarantee, you'll want to work things out as fast as you can, or avoid fighting all together.
Jinny: (laughs) I'll keep that in mind. you're still gonna let them come up here tomorrow, right?
Milton: Yes.
Jinny: Are we finished? Cause (putting her hand to her head) I'm not feeling to well, I'd like to go up and and lay down. What'd they give me?
Milton: Just a little something to help you calm down. You can go if you can give me your ticket out of here.
Jinny: (stands, sways a bit) I throw a goot left hook, does that count?
Milton: (laughs) No.
Jinny: (shrugs) Okay, I'll rephrase.....How about, I'm good at my job?
Milton: So you're back to being good at your job again?
Jinny: I think I can be better, if I can stay sober.
Milton: If you want to badly enough, you can.
Jinny: (still unsteady) Can I got now?
Milton: Get out.
Jinny: Thanks, bye.
(Jinny walks into her room, Miranda was sitting on her bed reading. So looks up. Seeing Jinny for the first time, she gasped.)
Miranda: (gasps) Oh, my gosh! Are you all right?
Jinny: (touching the side of her jaw where she'd been hit) Yeah. Fine. I'm gonna lay down, that stuff he gave me this morning (shaking her head, having trouble standing) is really working on me.
Miranda: Does it hurt? (getting off the bed to get a closer look)
Jinny: (turnign slightly so Miranda could see it) It's no big deal. really. I need to lay down. (walks over to the bed and passes out)
Well, this is the most boring part of the story, but it really helps to establish the rest of the story, so bear with me, please.
Esperanza 01-07-2002, 05:43 PM I don't think it's boing... so POST MORE NOW!!! Well... not now, but as soon as it's convienently possible.
dovesong 01-07-2002, 07:05 PM :crazy: You guys are just too kind:crazy:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(That evening, Jinny was a little late for the group meeting, though introductions were still being made for the benefit of anyone who may have been new.)
Lathen: You're late, Miss Exstead. That's unacceptable.
Jinny: What are you gonna do? Send me to bed without supper? I'm sorry. I had a rough night. Incase you hadn't noticed.
Lathen: Don't let it happen again. You're up. Introduce yourself.
Jinny: (looking around) I'm Jinny. (she stops there, but the evil eye that Dr. lathe is giving her makes her continue) You guys know what an intervention is? It's where all your friends get together and ambush you. They tell you all this sappy stuff about caring about your drinking and how they wasnt you to stop and all that crap. That's why I'm here. I got ambushed by my best friends.
Lathen: This is unacceptable, Exstead.
Jinny: You know, (shaking her finger at Lathen) You're starting to sound like my boss, and I don't like her. I never quite got up the nerve to tell her this, but you don't scare me, so sit down and shut up. (she places her hands on his shoulder and sits him down) I'm talking. (back to the group) I'm not the kind of person who feels comfortable talking about myself, but after that little intervention where every one of my friends and co-workers learned my deepest, darkest secrets; and considering the fact that I guess I kind of owe you for bailing my ass yesterday, I'm willing to let you guy take a shot at me, too. Question, anyone? Comments? (pause) This is a once and a lifetime opportunity, folks. No one? Thank you. (Jinny turned to sit down)
Someone: Why are you always so cynical?
Jinny: And I was so close. (Jinny turns to face the group again) I grew up with three men. Survival of the fittest, or the mouthiest anyways.
Another: If I had acted like that, my mother would have killed me.
Jinny: Well, see. My mother took a similar approach. She killed herself. (everyone gasped) (Jinny nervously scratched her head, hands shaking) Yeah, she, um, shot herself in the head when I was fourteen. I came home from school one day and there she was, laying in the bathroom floor, in a pool of blood.
(Several in the meeting had already begun to cry. Tears were threatening to spill over in Jinny's own eyes.)
Jinny: See, my dad, was a cop. He was also, an alcoholic. Now, see, there are different kinds of drunks. There are those who get quieter the drunker they get, and then there are those who get louder and meaner. Now, I've been taught to rationalilze, and i'm not supposed to blame myself anymore, and so I'm sure that I probably shouldn't blame Dad either, but...(Jinny threw up her hands, sniffed) Anybody else?
Kaley: (she had introduced herself to Jinny during kitchen duty, tears flowed freely down her face) I'm sorry about your mom, Jinny. But at least she died quickly. My mom got drunk and sex with some guy one night. She found out about a year later that she had AIDS. I watched my mother suffer for years before she finally found peace. I never thought I'd be grateful to see anyone die, especially someone that I loved so much. But she suffered so much. I had been sober for three years when she got sick. I did really well for about six months after she started getting sick, and I just couldn't handle it anymore, so I turned back to alcohol. She's been gone for two years, and I found this really great guy, but he doesn't want me to drink. So, I'm giving it up again, for him, and because I'm pregnant.
(Several people went around the room crying and telling their stories for Jinny, probably the millionth time they'd been told. The seemed so proud. Why didn't Jinny feel proud? Finally the stories stopped.)
Jinny: Anyone else got questions?
Miranda: Where'd you learn to fight like that? I know it isn't right (looking at Dr. Lathen), but it was pretty cool. And why did that woman yell at you about packin' heat?
Jinny: (looks down) That's not something I really want to talk about.
Miranda: Why not?
Jinny: Because, like DR. (sarcastically, looking at him) Lathen said, violence isn't the solution to every problem.
Miranda: It was self-defense. She was gonna kill you.
Jinny: It's no big deal, really.
Amy: (another young lady in the meeting) Weren't you scared?
Jinny: Would you be scared if some one came at you swinging a chair.
Amy: (laughs) I would have freaked. You acted like you've been around that stuff before. Did you grow up on the streets or what?
Jinny: No. I grew up in a house with three men, who all became cops. I had to learn to defend myself.
Amy: Still pretty cool if you ask me.
Lathen: Can we move on please?
Jinny: Sure. Anybody else? No? (turns and looks at Dr. Lathen) Good. I'm done. (get up and walks out)
Lathen: You can't ....(gets up and follows Jinny, but is cut off by the slamming door)
(Later that night, Dr. Lathen and Dr. Milton are in an office talking.)
Lathen: I don't think that Exstead is ready for visitors. I think...
Milton: Why not? Because she doesn't like you? She's doing fine in her sessions with me. She's been scarred, for life. She's going to be bitter for some time, but she's learning to open up. It's going to take time for her to learn to trust. At least she's talking, even if it's not exactly what we expected.
Lathen: And what about her episode yesterday? She busted that woman's kneecap and broke Sam's nose. I say she waits another week for visitors.
Milton: The woman attacked her. That's been established. I have the final say about her visitation and I say tomorrow is fine. Good night, Dr. Lathen.
(Jinny is in her room when Miranda returns from the meeting. She looks up and they lock eyes. Miranda smiles sympathetically. Jinny turns away.)
Miranda: I'm sorry about your mom.
Jinny: Don't be. I don't need your sympathy.
Miranda: Do you have ANY friends?
Jinny: Yeah, I do. Thanks.
Miranda: That's surprising. Dr. Lathen doesn't like you.
Jinny: And that's supposed to scare me? What's he gonna do to me?
Miranda: (gets quiet, turns away)
Jinny: (getsup and turns Miranda around to face her) What's he gonna do to me?
Miranda: (shrugs) How would I know?
Jinny: I have a very keen perception. Don't lie to me. What's going on?
Miranda: If he finds out I said anything....(trails off)
Jinny: About what?
Miranda: (in tears) He, um...He's my quack. You got lucky when you got Dr. Milton. At least she's a woman.
Jinny: And just what's that supposed to mean? Does he do things to you?
Miranda: (sobbing, nodding) If you notice, Dr. Lathen has more the young ladies, and Dr. Milton the oler ones. How you ended up with Dr. Milton, I don't know. I would have though he'd ask for you. You're young and pretty.
Jinny: Yeah, well, I assure you, he knows I'm not the young, vulnerable type.
Miranda: (looks at Jinny, curiosity in her eyes)
Jinny: Oh, all right. He knows I'm a cop.
Miranda: (shocked) What? Why are you here? Are you here because of him?
Jinny: No. I'm here because I drink too much. (pause) I got suspended from the force until I'm clean. (changing the subject) So, what's he do to you?
Miranda: Well, when I go for my sessions, he, um, he makes me, um...(tears)
Jinny: Does he force you to have sex with him?
Miranda: (nods, unable to speak)
Jinny: (sits back, running her hand through her hair) Oh, God. How long has this been going on? How many?
Miranda: I don't know. He does it to Amy, too, but I don't know how many more.
Jinny: Would you be willing to sign a statement? Testify? What about Amy? (Miranda nods) Does he do it everytime? When's your next session?
Miranda: Yes. Monday. 10:00.
Jinny: (gets up and storms off, turns back to Miranda) This is between you and me, for now. Okay?
Miranda: (nods) Okay. (as Jinny turns to go), Um, Jinny.
Jinny: What?
Miranda: That woman...
Jinny: (shrugs) I busted her daughter and her boyfriend for drugs. He ran. I shot him.
Miranda: Did you kill him?
Jinny: No. Not even close. Just in the leg. To stop him from running. Good night.
Miranda: Night.
(Sunday morning rolled around and Jinny thought she heard someone at the door. It stopped and she drifted back to sleep.)
(Soon, Jinny felt a presence behind her. All she could htink about was what she and Miranda had spoken about the night before. She quickly turned around and had the mysterious person restrained in no time. Then she looked at who it was.)

dovesong 01-07-2002, 09:36 PM Geeze!! Okay!! Point taken. Let's continue.......
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jinny: (shocked) THEODORE!!!!
(HA! It's sunday who'd you expect it to be?)
Teddy: (smiles) Hi, Jin. Um, your knee is in my ribs.
Jinny: (gets up) What are you... (looking around) Hey, Mag. What time is it?
Magda: Hey, Jin. It's um, eight o'clock. We wanted to come early and spend the day with you. CD and the Captain are down stairs. Angela had plans with her husband.
Jinny: Okay. How'd you get in here?
Miranda: (giggles) I let them in. I'm sorry if I...
Jinny: No. That's okay. Teddy, Mag, this is my roommate, Miranda. Miranda, this is Theodore, and this is Magda. (sarcastically) My friends.
Magda: Hi, Miranda. So, how's it been having Jinny as a roommate?
Miranda: It's been rough, actually.
Jinny: Thanks a lot.
Miranda: But it's getting better.
Jinny: I gotta get dressed.
(Jinny gets her clothes and goes to the bathroom to change. She stops in the doorway to the bathroom and turns back to Magda.)
Jinny: Did you say the Captain is here?
Magda: Yes, Jinny. Do we have to go over this again?
Jinny: Yeah, yeah, yeah. (turning to Miranda) You gonna be around today? (Miranda nods) I'll find you later.
(Jinny quickly changes clothes and lead Magda and Teddy back down the stairs and into the lobby. Jinny stops when she sees the Captain. Magda puts her arm on Jinny's back and gives her a shove.)
Captain: Hello, Jinny.
Jinny: (nods) Captain. Hey, CD. How's it going?
CD: Good. We miss you, Jinny.
Jinny: Thanks. Look can we, um, go outside some where and talk?
(They walk outside. Jinny follows them to a table, holding Teddy's hand)
Jinny: (takes a deep breath) This is the first time I've been outside since I've been here. Sad, Huh?
Captain: How are you doing Jinny?
Jinny: Fine. (Jinny is distracted, looking around)
Magda: Jinny what's up? You're a million miles away. I though you'd be happy to see us.
Jinny: Um, sorry. Yeah, I'm glad you came. (looks around) We're too close. Let's go somewhere else.
Magda: What's up, Jinny?
Jinny: No. (shakes her head) Come on.
(Jinny gets up and walks over under a large tree adn sits at the table. The others follow and sit. Jinny gets up and paces.)
Captain: Are you having that much difficulty coping with sobriety, Jinny?
Jinny: Uh, no. No. Actually, I'm doing pretty well with that surprisingly. Um, could you just sit down? (pause) Please?
Captain: (nods, sits) What's going on?
Jinny: Um, I don't know exactly how to start this. One of the doctors here is, um, forcing some of the girls to have sex with him. I have two who are willing to make statements and testify.
Captain: Can't get you job out of your system can you?
Jinny: Hey. I didn't go looking for this, okay? Miranda told me last night. I can go get her if you want to talk to her.
Captain: (nods) Go get her.
Jinny: (turns to go, but turns back, get in the Captain's face) I want to make this bust. I want my badge, and I want my gun, and I want to take him down. Two hours. That's all I'm asking for. One. One hour.
Captain: No.
Jinny: Captain...
Captain: NO!
Jinny: Please, Captain. I want to do this. I want to take this jerk down!
Captain: (pauses, thinking) Go get Miranda. (Jinny nods and leaves)
CD: So what do you say, Cap?
Captain: She's suspended.
Magda: THis could really build her self-esteem, Captain.
Captain: Magda...
Magda: Come on, Captain. She thinks you hate her. Do this for her. Let her know you trust her. It's help her a lot. Please?
Captain: (looks at CD) I gues you agree?
CD: You know she's sober.
Captain: I'll listen to her story.
Magda: (smiles)Thanks, Captain.
(Soon, Jinny returns with Miranda and Amy. Introductions are made and Miranda and Amy explain to everyone present their situation. They agree to make formal statement and testify in any court trial that may occur.
Capain: (once Amy and Miranda are gone) Jinny, do you think this is a serious complaint, or do you really think that they are making this up for some sick reason?
Jinny: I don't know, Captain. (pause) he make me feel uncomfortable. He has since before I even walked in the door. And he does everything he can just to tick me off.
Captain: And you've done nothing to influence that at all, have you?
Jinny: (looks away, smiling at Magda)
Captain: I thought as much.
Jinny: Captain, look. I know I haven't been the perfect cop lately. I know that. But, God, I'm trying. Okay? Give me the benefit of the doubt. Will you at least pick him up for questioning? You have two...
Captain: There's no question we'll pick him up. Let him sit in a cell for a day or two. It'll run in the papers. maybe others will surface as well.
Jinny: (nods) Thanks, Captain. (Captain nods)
(They remian outside most of the day catching up. Each person has their own various thoughts about Jinny's recovery, and about her new personality.)
Captain: Do you miss drinking, Jinny?
Jinny: (caught off-guard) Um, yeah. a lot. They say I will for a while. I just have to learn ways to deal with it.
Captain: Are you?
Jinny: Yeah, slowly.
Captain: Good. I'm proud of you. I just wanted you to know that.
Jinny: (smiling) Thanks. (Teddy squeezes her hand, she turns and kisses him)
(Later in the afternoon, Jinny follows them all to the door as they are leave. She doesn't want to let Teddy go again. She doesn't want to be alone, again.)
Magda: I brought your things in, they took them, though. They said they'd give them to you.
Jinny: (smiles, raises her eyebrow) Yeah, They, um, search everything first. (pause) Drugs, you know.
(Jinny doesn't sleep much that night. She tosses and turns the entire night. Each time she drifts off, she pictures herself on her last assignment. The one that got her suspended. She was awakened early that morning by a knock on her door. Jinny bade them enter and sat up groggily. Rubbing her eyes. Dr. Milton stood before her.)
Jinny: What? Am I late for something? is this Tuesday? It isn't Tuesday is it?
Milton: No. It's only Monday. Would you follow me to my office, Jinny?
Jinny: Sure. Let me get dressed. (dresses quickly)
Jinny: (following Dr. Milton) So what's this about? Saturday night?
Milton: I heard about that. We'll have to talk about that but not now.
Jinny: Then what's this about?
Milton: My office, Jinny.
Jinny: You're beginning to sound like.........
(Dr. Milton opens the door and they walk in)
Jinny: ..........my Captain.
Captain: Hello, Jinny.
Jinny: (shocked) Captain. Um, hi. Did you ....
Captain: I heard that, yes.
Jinny: Sorry. (sees Magda and makes a face) What are you guys doing here? Visiting hours were...
Captain: Sit down, Jinny.
Jinny: (opening her mouth to speak)
Captain: And for once, keep your mouth shut and just listen.
Jinny: (closes mouth and nods, smiling)
Captain: I called and spoke to Dr. Milton early this morning about our what we discussed yesterday. she has agreed to cooperate fully. We'll wire Miranda and as soon as anything happens, we'll go in. Any questions?
Jinny: Yeah, why am I here?
(Captain MacCafferty walks over to the bag she had brought with her. From it she produces Jinny's service pistol and a clip. She lays them on the desk in front of Jinny. Then she pulls Jinny's wallet ID and badge out and throws them on the desk. Jinny looks at her things, then at the Captain. The Captain raises and eyebrow and nods slightly.)
Captain: One hour. Off the record.
Esperanza 01-07-2002, 11:24 PM I love it!!! Keep going!
dovesong 01-07-2002, 11:42 PM Well, like I've said in the past, I have not other life, so....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jinny: (smiles) Thanks, Cap. I won't disappoint you.
Captain: I know.
( Miranda is brought in and set up. Then they go over what will happen. Miranda is instructed that she is to drop to the floor as soon as the door opens. She nods her understanding. There is a real fear in her eyes as she watches Jinny don her holster and check her gun. Jinny looks up ant Miranda and gives her a rassuring smile. Miranda takes a deep breath and smiles. Jinny put on her leather jacket and she and Miranda leave the offices. They go to breakfast and try to pretend that everything is normal.)
Lathen: (walking up to them) Miranda, don't forget that you have a session today. Make sure you're on time.
Miranda: Yes, Dr. Lathen. (drops her eyes)
(Dr. Lathen and Jinny's eyes meet. Jinny finds herself pulling her jacket around her closely, to hid her gun. She turns and watches Dr. Lathen leave and then turns back to Miranda. As the are walking back to the offices, Jinny gives Miranda some last minute advice.)
Jinny: Miranda, make sure you tell him no. We need to make sure we establish that this is against your will and we need to make sure we get that on the record.
Miranda: (at the door) Yeah, okay. Thanks Jinny.
(The door opens and Dr. Lathen steps out. He notices Jinny.)
Lathen: What are you doing down here, Jinny? Your sessions are on Tuesdays.
Jinny: (sarcastically) Yeah, well, thanks to you, I get a few extra sessions this week; (exaggerated) to explore my personality. So thanks a lot.
(Jinny turns and walks slowly away, trying to remain calm. As soon as Jinny is sure that the door is closed, she bolts for Dr. Milton's office where the recording is going on. She wants to hear every bit of what is occurring.)
Jinny: (bursting through the door) Got a new positive trait for ya, doc.
Milton: (raises an eyebrow) Let's hear it.
Jinny: I'm a good liar. (they all laugh)
Milton: I'm not so certain that's always a positive thing.
(They are all quiet listening to the tape. Everything runs smoothly for the first ten or fifteen minutes..)
Lathen: So, you and Jinny are getting along better, I see.
Miranda: Yeah.
Lathen: Are you ready Miranda?
Miranda: Dr. Lathen, I don't want to do this, please.
Lathen: Why not? You know the consequences...
Miranda: Well, I just, I don't think....(pause) What's that?
Lathen: Just a little something, Just enough to make you fail your drug test, so you can spend a little more time with me....
Miranda: No, please...
(Milton's Office)
Captain: Go! NOW!
(Jinny and Magda rush out of the room and down the hall. Jinny kicks the door open, gun drawn. Miranda drops, screaming.)
Jinny: SFPD!! Back off and get your hands in the air!!!
Lathen: Jinny! What the...(drops the syringe) (hands in the air)
Jinny: Allow me to reintroduce myself. My name is INSPECTOR Jinny Exstead. You can call me Inspector. You're under arrest (grabs him by the back of the shirt, slams him against the exam table and handcuffs him) for the sexual assault of Miranda Smith and Amy Logan, AND (picking up the syringe) probably possession of an illegal substance. Any questions?
Lathen: How did you.....
(Captain MacCafferty and Dr. Milton walk in about this time.)
Jinny: I'm not stupid, doc. (holds the syringe up in his face) What's this?
Lathen: I don't know what you're talking about.
Jinny: You just dropped this. Inspector Ramirez can confirm. Is this what you gave me the other morning? Is this what I caught you disposing of Saturday morning?!! What were you doing in my room when I woke up??!! You sick....(draws fist back)
Captain: Magda, read him his rights and put him in the car. Exstead, you're done. (Jinny shoves him toward Magda, causing him to stumble, but not fall.)
Magda: Let's go. (winks at Jinny) Good going, Jin. (walk out reading Dr. Lathen his rights.
Captain: (walks up to Jinny, who is still holding the syringe) What was that all about?
Jinny: (explains as she hands her things back to the Captain) He was in my room the other day when I woke up.
Milton: In the infirmary?
Jinny: Yeah. I caught him disposing of a syringe just like this. He said it was something to calm me down. Something to make me feel better. He drugged me. I felt bad the rest of the day.
Milton: (nods) I remember.
Captain: Will you submit to a drug test?
Jinny: (nodding) Yeah.
Milton: I'll call for a tox screen.
Jinny: (looking between Milton and the Captain) So, what happens to me if it's positive?
Captain: We'll take this (taking the syringe from Jinny) and test it. If it tests the same as you do, we'll consider forgetting about it.
Jinny: (nods) Thanks, Cap. Thanks for everything. (Jinny turns to go to the lab)
Captain: Jinny. (Jinny turns) I met Magda's new partner today. I like her. I'm anxious for her to start.
Jinny: (smiles, nods, walks out)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just a little more.........
Esperanza 01-07-2002, 11:57 PM :lol: :lol: :lol: You've just made my day by posting more!!! So don't stop now!!!
Divisionbabe05 01-08-2002, 12:21 AM whoaaaaaaaaaaaa no way u just stopped!!!!!!!!!! Im dyin here!
dovesong 01-08-2002, 11:25 AM Okay guys, here's the ending. I hope it isn't tooo disappointing....
(Just a note...I wrote this before the season premiere. I did change the name of Jinny's sponsor from what I had to Dusty, but I left the rest the same.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(Jinny is on a high the rest of the day. She's beginning to think that this was a good choice. Even Captain MacCafferty seemed to be happier with her. She just hoped that she could continue to live up to everyone's expectations.)
(Jinny's drug test was positive, but matched the testing done on the syringe removed from Dr. Lathen's office. The next couple of weeks go well for Jinny. She's going to her sessions and opening up with Dr. Milton. She's learning to cope with her need for alcohol. She and Miranda get along better though Jinny still has difficulty getting along with some of the other ladies. Jinny's sarcasm is still a stumbling block, but she's not willing to allow everyone into her world.)
(Jinny's last session with Dr. Milton)
Milton: You ready to go home this weekend, Jinny?
Jinny: Yes.
