View Full Version : Worst Post Richie/Ralph Add-On Character
Notice that I didn't include Chachi because that's too obvious besides him coming along when Richie and Ralph were still around:
*Roger (this was pretty much the start of Ted McGinley's run as the "patron saint" of TV shows jumping the shark)
*Jenny (although we've heard Joanie talk about Jenny Piccolo, we didn't exactly see her early on)
*Flip
*Those students that Fonzie taught shop class to at Jefferson like Eugene
*Ashley and Heather
*K.C.
robyrob 04-05-2011, 09:49 PM my least favorite add-on characters were Flip Phillips and Pinky Tuscadero
catlover79 04-05-2011, 09:56 PM I thought Pinky was on while Richie and Ralph were still there.
Marvo301 04-05-2011, 10:03 PM I thought Pinky was on while Richie and Ralph were still there.
Yes she was. Same with her sister Leather Tuscadero.
McGillicuddy 04-05-2011, 10:10 PM All of them. The show should have ended with Ron Howard's departure.
Marvo301 04-05-2011, 11:09 PM The add on character I liked the least is Flip Phillips.
Marvo301 04-05-2011, 11:20 PM Yes she was. Same with her sister Leather Tuscadero.
Pinky appeared in three episodes in season 4. Leather's several appearances occurred in seasons 5 and 6. Ron and Don left at the end of season 7.
anglemark10 04-06-2011, 12:41 AM Definitely Heather Pfister with Flip Phillips a close second.
catlover79 04-06-2011, 12:44 AM Suzi Quatro really did add a lot of spice to the proceedings. Leather's relationship with Ralph might have really gone someplace - sorry to see it was dropped. :( But then, I also read Suzi didn't want to be tied long-term to a TV show because her music took precedence. Just a couple of years later, she scored her biggest chart hit in the US (with Chris Norman of the band Smokie) with "Stumblin' In".
Marvo301 04-06-2011, 12:53 AM I wish they would have developed the Ralph/Leather relationship more. Don Most and Suzi Quatro seemed to have some really good chemistry between them!
old grouch 04-06-2011, 10:46 AM The Ralph/Leather relationship was interesting because they were such opposites. Ralph was a clown but was clean cut and pretty much a good kid. Leather had a few rough edges and was from the wrong side of the tracks. The episode where they went to dance and each one tried to act different was one of my favorite episodes.

That was one of my favorite episodes as well!
catlover79 04-06-2011, 03:38 PM Mine, too. I loved it!! :D
icecream 04-06-2011, 04:47 PM Jenny and Flip were the worst. I actually liked Ashley and Heather.
MikeLutton 04-06-2011, 05:34 PM Jenny and Flip were the worst. I actually liked Ashley and Heather.
im the opposiate i didnt care for heather and ashleyi lked jenna flip was ok
old grouch 04-07-2011, 10:32 AM I liked Jenny and Ashley. Heather was cute but could be a little annoying. Flip and K.C. were just bland substitutes for Joanie and Chachi.

BINGO!! At least Billy Warlock and Crystal Bernard went on to bigger and better things.
Heidi Dawn 04-14-2011, 02:22 PM I didn't mind Roger, Flip, Jenny or K.C. Ashley was okay, but Heather was annoying. Leather was a lot more likeable than Pinky was (I couldn't stand Pinky).
catlover79 04-14-2011, 04:53 PM I liked Leather a lot, too. How many episodes was Suzi Quatro on?
Marvo301 04-14-2011, 05:15 PM I liked Leather a lot, too. How many episodes was Suzi Quatro on?
Suzi Quatro appeared in 7 episodes of Happy Days starting with the two-parter that introduced her character in the fall of 1977 until her final appearance in the spring of 1979 in the episode in which she was Ralph Malph's date for a college dance.
CaliforniaKid 04-14-2011, 05:38 PM Id have to say my least favorite would be Eugene and the rest of the students I never cared for them much.
McGillicuddy 04-14-2011, 07:01 PM Leather and Pinky were not post-Ritchie/Ralph characters. Why do we keep talking about them?
70s show watcher 04-16-2011, 06:00 AM i can take roger in small doses but i really never liked kc
robyrob 04-16-2011, 10:05 AM the 5th season is when they started the push to add more major characters - all of the pre-season promos were full of hype about the new cast members Pinky and Sticks, it almost seemed like they were preparing for someone to leave - but of course the viewers didn't really like those characters too much.
Mr. Television 04-16-2011, 10:08 AM Flip
TVFactFan 04-16-2011, 12:37 PM Probably Roger since he was added as a OBVIOUS REPLACEMENT for Richie which made his addition hard to accept
Dr. Thong 04-18-2011, 01:33 PM Let's face it: In the final analysis, all the post-Richie/Ralph add-on characters were pretty bad or at the very least, pale imitations of their predecessors.
I've said it a zillion times before and I'll say it again: Happy Days should have had it's finale at the end of the 1979-1980 season. Even with Richie and Ralph still part of the group, the show was starting to show signs of old age.
And 1980-1984 was the slow death, creatively speaking, of a once-great show to me.
wayne 04-18-2011, 08:12 PM Eugene and Melvin Belvin. both were nerds but at least Eugene tried to be funny.
YoliUSA 04-19-2011, 03:44 PM Roger. Nothing against Ted McGinley but I couldn't stand his character. I also think KC, the Belvins and Flip were useless additions.
