A TV Show premeres, but turns out to be a Ratings Disaster. However it's Theme made it to No. 1 on Billboard's top 40. Has this ever happened?

the 1979 sitcom Makin It with David Naughton. According to Wikipedia it made it up to #5. I don't know if a song ever made it to #1 off a flop but I remember Makin It was played all over the radio during that time...long after the show left the air.

The Heights hit #1 with the theme from The Heights ("How Do You Talk to an Angel") while the series lasted only 1 season (13 episodes)

Only 4 tv themes have ever hit #1 on the Billboard singles charts. The others are "Welcome Back" , "The Theme from S.W.A.T." and "Theme from Miami Vice"

Not exactly on topic, because the show was a hit--but does anyone know if the theme from Chico and the Man by Jose Feliciano was on the charts at the time, and how it did?

Only when Paramount added "Makin' It" to the soundtrack of their 1979 Canadian theatrical import "Meatballs" did it become a "Top Ten" hit.
