Saturday Night Fever for sure.

One of Travolta's best movies.

"Saturday Night Fever".--Heck Jeff Conaway(from Taxi) was almost, if not as good as him in "Grease".---In SNF,he(and the Bee Gees music) carried alot of the movie,in "Grease" he was more just a part of a big cast.

Saturday Night Fever, without a doubt. I did like him in Grease too, but he was the focal point in Saturday Night Fever.

Grease pushed John Travolta into Super Stardom.
SNF was rated R so alot of young fans didnt get to see it.

Grease pushed John Travolta into Super Stardom.

Also pretty much for Olivia Newton John.

Olivia Newton John was a famous singer before any movie.

I remember back when that movie came out, my 10 year old sister and her friend snuck into see it, then when she came home and my father asked her where she was so she said she went to see some G-rated Disney comedy that was out at the time.

But remember in 1979 they re-relesed it in an edited version that they rated PG. (PG-13 wasn't around yet)

I've never seen it, but they did release a PG version of the film in the theaters after it became popular.

This version took out most of the scenes involving racist dialogue, the attempted rape, the suicide on the bridge, the stripper scene, the gang fight...

This version never got a home video release but most of the time when Saturday Night Fever airs on network tv it is this one.

But there's a difference between being a "famous singer" and the super-stardom that a big film will bring...! IMO she was a much bigger celebrity and household name after Grease, which was a tremendously popular film...!

I think she was a superstar singer before Grease came out. Anyone who had a radio knew who she was. She had some beautiful hits. Grease didn't hurt, but she was already there.

Anyone ever notice, the great theme song from Grease sung by Frankie Valli has a disco beat. I mean, the movie is supposed to take place in the 1950s:lol:
