SYDNEY -- Singer Miley Cyrus slammed musical artists who launched to stardom by posting clips to YouTube, as she promoted her first tour in Australia.

"It should be harder to be an artist. You shouldn't just be able to put a song on YouTube and go out on tour," Cyrus said when asked about singers like Justin Bieber and Rebecca Black, who got their start on the video sharing website.

The controversial teen pop star spoke to The Daily Telegraph ahead of her upcoming tour in Australia this June.

No circus tricks, a few costume changes and a set list influenced by shout-outs from the crowd, for a ticket price less than $100, will be the key ingredients of her Gypsy Heart shows.

"I don't lip-sync. I would rather someone say I sang like crap than have people see me lip-sync," she said.

The 18-year-old who catapulted to fame in the Disney TV series "Hannah Montana" most recently made headlines for smoking a herbal substance in a bong.

"I mess up. There you go," Cyrus said. "But if you live your life trying to be perfect, you don't really live your life ever," she continued.

She also said she is looking forward to launching her first tour in the country she most recently visited last year -- with then-boyfriend actor Liam Hemsworth.

"I was only there for a week and I loved it so I'm looking forward to exploring and meeting a lot of people. Australians are a lot like southern people. You love BBQ as much as we do," she added.

Is it just me, or does Miley rarely have anything good to say about other pop stars - particularly ones close to her own age?

A guy whose previous to claim to fame was the supremely annoying and overplayed "Achy Breaky Heart" - not to mention his mullet. :eek: :crazy: Had he not won the lead role in the short-lived drama series Doc about a decade or so ago, he probably would never have had the prestige to even get Miley taken seriously when Hannah Montana was being put together.

Of course Miley's first acting gig was as an occasional guest character on "Doc"! Without which she may never have been cast as Hannah Montana. So she really does owe her career to her Dad. Therefore she has no right to say what she did about those other artists. :rolleyes:

I think YouTube stars like those mentioned are more creditable (regardless of talent) because they were picked by the public or at least people on YouTube. Having a famous dad, definitely put Miley's foot in the door and if she's smart she won't forget it.
