"Y&R's" Emily O'Brien Is Out

Actress Emily O'Brien is leaving "The Young and the Restless".

The show isn't commenting on the reason for her exit, but it appears that her alter ego, Jana, is being written out. Jana's been involved with uncovering Primrose (Ellen Greene), the baby broker, and will be putting herself in the line of fine.




O'Brien commented on her departure, telling Soap Opera Digest:

"'The Young and the Restless' has been around for 38 years, and I feel very proud to have been a part of it for five of those years."


Looking ahead, O'Brien is going east and returning to the theater.

"I'll definitely be pursuing New York theater ... Broadway is a passion of mine."




Emily joined "Y&R" in 2005 and was nominated for a Daytime Emmy in 2008 and 2009.

Sad, Jana has been one of my favorite characters over the past several years...

They really wrote her character into the ground over the past year. Since they wrote off Ryder and had her split with Kevin, there's not much more they can do with her.
