Hi There, back then I was not a big fan of either show, I guess I was too young to enjoy good t.v. Although as I have aged I find yesteryear shows to my liking and much better that what is on these days. I have been watch episodes of DS and found a few with FOL cast in them. To me it seems they where equally popular shows.
Maybe they could have teamed up and had one show? Just a thought...

The shows were better off separate because they were both successful but have the characters cross over.

I wish they had done a few more crossovers in the later years. The girls at Eastland seemed to forget all about Kimberly. Was she still written as a student there in the later seasons of Diff'rent Strokes?

Kimberly was a day student and not a resident. And with Kim Plato's personal demons, I don't think they wanted the other young actresses to be influenced by her "habits".

I did miss the crossovers in the later years. It would have been so cool to see the whole Drummond family visit Edna's Edibles, or come to her wedding. It only seems fair that Mr. Drummond should have been there. Mr. Bradley should have been at her wedding, too. And, of course, ALL her girls.

The purpose of a crossover is to bring more viewers to a new show. Once both of these shows was established and became hits, there was no need for another crossover.
I always thought the first two shows that had the girls from Facts of life, then the first 2 episodes of Facts of Life that had Gary Coleman were 4 cross-over episodes. Just watch those and you have a hybrid show.
