View Full Version : Hi, I'm new here
:) Hi, my name is Monique. I have two questions to ask. First, I love the show Chico and The Man. I also love and miss Freddie Prinze. I wish he was still here today. I was wondering if anyone here knows if the entire series will be released on DVD in the future? I have the 6 episode DVD, but I would like to have more episodes on DVD too. My second question has to do with some past fanfiction I read. I think this story was dated 2001. It was called "A New Beginning". Was that story ever finished?
Luckymama58 03-24-2011, 10:40 PM Hello, Monique. I am glad you have found this forum. Sadly I haven't been around since July of last year. My life has taken some new twists and turns over the recent year or two. A New Beginning was my story, a sequel to Salvation. Because of all the things I have been doing lately I have gotten away from doing any more writing. I think that well dried up, unfortunately. I had a couple of stories that I was working on but I really don't think I have it in me to finish them. If anyone wants to try their hand at finishing them, they are welcome to. I have no qualms about that. My time and creative juices seem to be directed more toward songwriting and performing at area open mics as well as live music performances at the moment. I still have a love for all things Freddie and still have fond memories of all the friends I have met on here. I am still friends with a few of them on Facebook.
Peace... Luckymama
Cheryl Harrell 03-25-2011, 04:20 AM Welcome back! We've been wondering how you were doing. Too bad yiou aren't gonna finish the fics as we have enjoyed them. Maybe you will get back to writing. Before Mike passed in 2009, I was going to local bluegrass jams at a local presbyterian church and playing in them. I am still playing in them and my friend Debbie who introduced me to Mike is going and watching me play it's fun. Hope all is going well for ya. Do drop by more often. I sure miss all the fan fics and all the folks hanging out on here. Hopefully more folks will come back. I come to this site everyday even if I don't write. I have to see what is going on. Even if it's nothing...
MariposaLKB 03-25-2011, 06:46 AM Welcome to the new member, from another member who has had to drop off the face of the earth LOL! When I saw Monique's post, I immediately thought that was Lucky's story, but I have been sooo out of touch I was not sure. I e-mailed her to ask (we are still friends "in the real world" after all these years--but mainly by that means alone anymore :( ). Sure enough I had actually remembered something correctly for once LOL!
As for me I am in the same boat--no creative juices flowing anymore, mostly thanks to being soooo busy with a multitude of family issues! Glad to see at least one new person, though! ;)

Cheryl, as I remember, you play the autoharp, correct? Playing and singing in public has become my new love at the moment. I have been doing this with the hubster as well as a few friends both old and new. He just learned the mandolin. It is a blast. I dunno how many more years my fingers will hold out with the guitar, and my voice is aging as well, so I am going for this life long dream while I still can. It does take up a lot of time, tho. Plus these people have inspired me to try my hand at songwriting and I hope to start publishing this summer. I do both folk rock, and old brit rock at open mics and I still play and sing at church. We are also going to more concerts these days, something I enjoyed in my youth but never had the time or money for when my kids were growing up. My son is married and my daughters are getting married. So Brian and I want to get back to the things we used to enjoy doing before kids! :guitar:

Hope you enjoy your time around here!;)
:) Thank you for the welcome. I've been checking out this forum for a few months now. So I decided to introduce myself. I really wish the entire series of Chico and The Man would be put on DVD. I'd only get the seasons with Freddie Prinze in it though. The show got good ratings when Freddie Prinze was in it. It doesn't make sense that the entire series isn't on DVD. Practically every other show from the 1970's has it's entire series on DVD. Why not Chico and The Man? I emailed Warner Brothers with my question, but got no reply. Well, I'm happy to be a part of this forum and I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone.
Monique :)

Cheryl Harrell 03-26-2011, 12:16 AM It sooo need to come out on dvd...
Yeah, I not only play autoharp but mountain dulcimer, piano, organ, guitar, canjo (can banjo) and bowed psaltery. Quite a list. If you're ever in the area do stop by the bluegrass jams. They are on the first friday of the month. You should film yourself singing and playing and put on YouTube. I bet you could write songs inspired by Freddie and Chico...

WOW:eek: I never knew you were such an accomplished musician! I only play the guitar and banjo with any proficiency. Brian has learned the mandolin and is learning the banjo. He plays piano and guitar and all manner of brass instruments (his first instrument is the tuba) and he has a dulcimer, autoharp and psaltery and plays them as well. We might just have to stop down sometime.
I still think I need to do a little rework on that song I wrote to Mariposa's poem "Sweet Nightmare" a few years back. I made three wave files out of it and someone added it to a CD collection of Songs that reminded us of Freddie. I tried to put the CD into my MacBook and load it into my iTunes to listen to, but the label on it makes it too fat to fit into my port. So I will have to try to listen to it on my CD player at school.
Cheryl Harrell 03-27-2011, 01:28 AM I knew I had heard that song somewhere but couldn't remember where. Now I know. :) I'm not that good a musician but I try. If you need more info on the bluegrass jams, let me know and I can send it to ya...
Prince 06-11-2011, 11:10 PM Welcome Monique. I haven't been around much but plan on visiting the boards a little more faithfully from now on. This place used to be jumping and we were like family here. But like everything, life gets in the way...it can't be helped. But keep coming back and posting, we would love to hear your thoughts on Freddie. All fans welcomed that's for sure.
