Hewett doesn't look like him at all. If you go back and actually watch the old episodes of Trek, you'll see that they look like one another in the slightest. This is just due to the lighting that they happen to smirk similarly, much as Hewett did throughout his tenure (brilliantly, I might add) in the series.
