I just read in Entertainment Weekly that Russell Crowe and the guy who's trying to buy the rights to do the HH movie want to do it more like Stalag 17. Okay, then make a remake of Stalag 17, not Hogan's Heroes. Hogan's heroes wasn't a drama and it shouldn't be remade that way.

Any opinions?

Well, we've heard conflicting reports then. I've heard that Russell Crowe wants to show off his comedic talents. (Even though Hogans Heroes wasn't a drama, I think it would be smarter for the box office if they were to play it as one for the movie, though.)

I don't know; that's just what he said in his interview with EW. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

I see what you mean about box office and drama and all, I just think that there will be people out there that hear "Hogan's Heroes Movie" and will go into the theatre and expect a 2 hour Hogan's Heroes episode. But I guess that's not really my problem anyway. :)

Some people may expect that, and they may get a bit of that, but most people (the people they want to get into movies, the younger people, who probably wouldn't remember the series all that vividy) wouldn't expect as much... We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

I agree with dawsongirl,if they are gonna make a Hogan's Heroes
movie make it a HOGAN'S HEROES movie and not a remake of
Stalag 17.
If you want to make it a remake of Stalag 17,call it Stalag 17
but DON'T confuse fans by calling it one thing when it really
is another!

I read somewhere that it's actually a Bob Crane bio-pic, not a Hogan's Heroes movie, as has been said in other sources. SO I don't know......But I definitely think that if they want Stalag 17, they should leave out hogan. Maybe they just want to incorporate the comedy and hogan's heroes "magic" into a Stalag 17-like movie. A movie Inspired by the two.

And why oh why is that picture showing up on every single post on the board....i'm sick of seeing it, lol.

That movie is "Auto Focus," starring Greg Kinnear. HH was to be a separate film supposedly with Russell Crowe.

This is 100% crap! Personally I would like to have Greg Kinnear and Russell Crowe to star as those 'Wacky & Zany' duo of fascism, Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini. Who should be who? Well I figure who ever looks best in that moustache I guess. :D

You're right about them idiots at TV Guide. My father, brother and myself back then had tons of laughs watching the boys of Stalag 13. Besides if it such a terrible series why would Hollywood be so crazy enough to do somekind of remake?

Hey, isn't that fraternizing with the enemy?

I Love that Picture. :)

And yeah, if it was that hated, Hollywood wouldn't touch it with a ten foot poll.

Oh, about AF- that dude that's playing Richard Dawson doesn't look ANYTHING like Richard. :p

"Lebeau, I need your opinion on something"..."What's that mon colonel?"..."Which one of them two should play 'Hitler'?"..."Uhm, I think it should be Greg Kinnear"..."Why him?"..."Let's just say he looks best in that moustache"..."Excuse me, sir"..."What is it, Newkirk?'..."Well sir, it's about me quite frankly, what about this fellow AF that suppose to play me?"..."Don't worry about it, by the time Hollywood is done with him, he'll be in 'drag' playing 'Eva Braun', you know, Hitler's mistress"..."Oh, I see, 'Braun', 'Hitler' and 'Mussolini', it will be something like 'Three's Company'"..."Now, you're starting to see big the picture". :D

In my opinion I seriously do not think that a movie version of "Hogans Heroes" will ever be made.
As we all have read, "HH" has created a lot of controversy over the years with it's comedic spin of WW II, (whether you agree with it or not) and in this day and age, I do not think a very P.C. Hollywood would take a chance (i.e. sink 100 million dollars) into such a risky idea.
I can just see the protesters lining up at the premiere...

If Russell Crowe wants to do a P.O.W. flick, then he should remake "Stalag 17" and not tack the "Hogan's Heroes" name on it.

But just between us, I would love a big screen remake of "Hogan's Heroes," although Bruce Campbell would be a better Col. Hogan.

Hollywood won't touch it with a million foot pole. I'm sure if a movie ever gets made, it'll be along the lines of Stalag 17. Society's thinking has evolved too far, and given the climate of our nation's political correctness and patriotism, it would be professional suicide for Russell Crowe or any actor to star in an actual remake of Hogan's Heroes.

Society's thinking has evolved to what exactly? One where reason and passion are exercise to their potential, more of a civilized one, a just society if you will? Ha! Think again...idiots mate with other idiots to produce more idiots. Look around! They're everywhere!

P.S. Say what you will about poles and 'PC Brigades' but do take note that for whatever it's worth the "Hogan's Heroes" series was extremely patriotic.

It's evolved in the sense that the show would never be made today because it's in poor taste.
As for the show being patriotic....the show's premise doesn't fit my idea of patriotism, but to each his own I guess.

I see that. We never looked like the idiots (even Carter's screw ups weren't that bad), the enemy always did.
