View Full Version : If you created a classic tv channel, what holiday theme shows would you put on?
mets82 03-18-2011, 09:13 PM That might sound confusing but what shows would you put on during the holidays? Now obviously for Christmas and Thanksgiving, you would put those themed episodes on. But what about other holidays? Valintines Day, New Years Eve, New Years Day, hell even Black Friday? What shows would you put on and would have a catchy slogan for each holiday themed show?
For ex. on New Years Eve, TV Land used to have "Last Things Last" marathon with series finales of shows. The next day, TV Land would have "First Things First" marathon with the series pilots. So what would you do?
dakert 03-18-2011, 10:59 PM for 4th of July I would air Gomer Pyle, McHales Navy and Sgt Bilko
mets82 08-28-2011, 08:35 PM Obviously, Christmas I would show Christmas themed episodes. I maybe would have Christmas episodes on Thanksgiving Day to kind of set up Christmas. What do you guys think?
Regulus 08-28-2011, 10:44 PM On Martin Luther King Day, I'd show Julia, The Mod Squad, I Spy and the Walt Disney Movie Song of the South.
On Memorial Day I'd show Combat, The Rat Patrol, Twelve o'Clock High & Hogan's Heroes
On Black Friday I'd show the Movies It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World & Jingle All The Way! :D
Rosslover 08-28-2011, 11:55 PM For Halloween I would show Bewitched and Sabrina and also special Halloween episodes like Slutty Pumpkin and TOW Halloween Party.
tiredmike59 08-29-2011, 12:12 AM I know Arbor day Isn't a holiday, but I would show old movies like these to commemorate it.
Hang 'em high
Good day for a hanging
The hangman
robyrob 08-29-2011, 08:39 AM i would like to see one of these classic stations show some of the old variety specials from the 60's and 70's, like Bob Hope, Andy Williams, the Osmonds etc
Someone should replay the Bob Hope Christmas specials, they were a holiday staple for years. You can toss in some other perennial favorites of yesteryear such as Bing Crosby and Andy Williams.
Halloween-Munsters marathon
Valentine's-I Love Lucy or The Love Boat or Love,American Style marathon
Independence Day- Andy Griffith Show
Labor day- happy days
Veteran's day-Black sheep squadron
Or you could go the Syfy route...
New year's-Twilight zone
Valentine's- twilight zone
Independence day-twilight zone
Thanksgiving-twilight zone
Christmas-twilight zone
And so forth...
Regulus 08-29-2011, 09:55 PM My Birthday (August 19) is "National Aviation Day" to celebrate I'd show Avaition-Oriented TV Shows such as Sky King, Steve Canyon, Whirlybirds, Ripcord, Blue Thunder and Airwolf, among others :)
UMFaninMD 08-29-2011, 11:24 PM New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, definitely the Twilight Zone, as the Sci-Fi Channel (not the watered down Syfy as it's called now) used to do.
Friday the 13th---Friday the 13th movies of course and Friday the 13th: The Series.
Halloween would be dedicated to older horror movies from the 60s-80s, especially the TV horror movies of the 70's, like Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, The Night Stalker/The Night Strangler. I'd also air anthology series like Darkroom, Alfred Hitchcock Presents (both versions), Night Gallery, and Thriller.
St. Patrick's Day---A marathon of The Incredible Hulk.
