NBC Renews "The Office"

NBC has ordered a new season of "The Office", the network announced on Thursday.

"I am so pleased to renew these three outstanding comedies which are all at the top of their game creatively," Bob Greenblatt, chairman of NBC Entertainment said in a statement.

"The Office continues to fire on all cylinders on the most competitive night of television."



"The Office", currently in its seventh season, was widely expected to return, despite the departure of the show's star, Steve Carell.

How bad would that have been if all this time we assumed it was coming back, only to find out it isn't?

I mean that because Steve Carell is not in the final four episodes of the season. So it would be a weird way to end the show where the star is just absent for the last four shows as opposed to leaving and getting replaced for at leasta season.

I know many people don't want the show to come back but I do. I'm looking forward to see how it plays next season. Carell will be missed, obviously. I'm just curious to see, like I say, how it plays out next season.

^ I was pretty certain it would be back for an 8th Season since B.J. Novak signed a two season deal (7-8) a while ago.

Not a big shock that it was renewed & I agree, it should be interesting to see how this show can work without Carell.
