I read an article where it stated that the show was canceled by CBS. I was always under the assumption that Mary wanted it to end after 7 seasons. Which was it???

Everything I've ever read and heard indictated that Mary and her production company wanted to go out on top and made the decision to end the show after 7 years. But, who knows?

There was a big dip in the ratings:

1974 - 75: #11
1975 - 76: #18
1976 - 77: not in the Top 30

Would make sense if it was cancelled.

Hmmm, the plot thickens...

I heard the same thing Monika did, that they were ready to "go out on top".

I knew the ratings had fallen but from what I heard, It was Mary's decision to end it.
