Chloe Sevigny, star of the Playtone-produced HBO drama Big Love, is tackling another project with the pay-cable network and Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman's production company, this time on the longform side.

HBO is developing Lizzie Borden, a four-hour miniseries about the infamous story of Lizzie Borden who, in 1893, was acquitted of murdering her overbearing father and step-mother with a hatchet, but was publically condemned. Sevigny, who has been the driving force behind the project, is set to star as Borden as well as co-executive produce. Because of her relationship with Playtone on Big Love, she took the project to Hanks and Goetzman, who are executive producing. Sevigny, repped by WME and Brillstein Entertainment, also brought in writer Bryce Kass, who is in the midst of writing the script.

Sevigny, who plays sister wife Nicolette Grant on Big Love, is the second star from the departing polygamist drama to set a miniseries project with Playtone and HBO. A couple of years ago, Bill Paxton teamed with Hanks and Goetzman to turn the book Reclaiming History: The Assassination of President John F. Kennedy into a mini.

I think it will be a good mini series and good break from the war min-series that HBO does. I like the war min-series but sometimes it's bit tiring to see similar subjects over and over again.

And just in time for Mother's Day! ;)

It will be interesting to see what they do with the Lizzie Borden story. It will be pretty hard to top Elizabeth Montgomery's chilling, Emmy-nominated turn in 1975's The Legend of Lizzie Borden.

^ hopefully if this new one is a hit it may breathe new life into finally releasing Montgomery's version.

So do I. EM really is chilling - never once do you think of her as Samantha Stephens when you watch this movie.
