Uh oh. "No Ordinary Family" star Julie Benz has booked a pilot role. Good for her, but bad for the future of the ABC superhero series.

In CBS's untitled medical drama, Benz will play the sister to Patrick Wilson's Michael. The drama follows Michael, a doctor whose life is changed when his ex-wife dies, but she then begins teaching him life lessons from the beyond the grave.

According to Deadline, Benz's character is an unfocused single mom with a heart of gold.

Michael Chiklis was also picked up on a new pilot for CBS.

"Vince Uncensored" is a half-hour comedy produced by Conan O'Brien about a man who, in the wake of a life-changing experience, adopts a more honest approach to life, work and family.

It is written by veteran sitcom writer Phoef Sutton ("Cheers").

ABC had no comment on the future of "No Ordinary Family", but both its stars have new pilot roles. The new shows are in second position to their current series, of course.

Doesn't look good does it?

It makes me sad (though I've never watched the show...figured I'd see if it would last a while before investing time into it...and I guess I was right to be wary, it seems) because between this and The Cape, I think superhero shows are going to be approached with a LOT of caution by the network execs.

Though come to think of it, there haven't been any really good ones in a LONG, LONG time...maybe back to the early 80s with Bixby's Hulk.
