posted Mar 11th 2011

"Celebrity Apprentice" star and original "Survivor" winner Richard Hatch is heading back to prison.

According to the The Hollywood Reporter, Hatch will serve nine months in jail for failing to pay taxes on the $1 million he won after the first season of "Survivor".

Hatch, who is currently appearing on NBC's "Celebrity Apprentice", served more than three years in prison for tax evasion. He was released in 2009 and was on a three-year supervised release.

The reality star was supposed to re-file his 2000 and 2001 taxes and pay what he owned. However, he never did.

Hatch now owes more than $2 million to the IRS.

After watching what he did to my teen idol last week, I hope the Feds (and NO.....not the Phil goof on Survivor right now) come into the boardroom and haul him out by his flabby butt (which, thankfully, we didn't have to face during Apprentice as we did on Survivor)!

What makes him think he's that special anyway?

 No, that name is reserved for those who go back to jail for the same reason they were put there in the first place.

Actually, you should be a hollywood exec......I can just see the next Apprentice and it could be held "in the can" - Richard Hatch, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton.....

 Good one.

I read an interview with NeNe Leakes today, and she said that Celebrity Apprentice was filmed in 30 days, so it actually is "in the can". Rather than post the article since I can't stand Nutty NeNe, here's the link. She says it in Question 5.

Yep, they usually film it in the Fall, but the finale is live.

I see, so now it's down to just a few people and nobody knows the winner yet?

Yeah, it's most likely down to the final two right now.

i just don't understand how someone could win a million dollars and wind up owing $2 million in taxes - he's obvously doing something wrong.

I think it's sheer arrogance on Hatch's part. He thought he was untouchable. I think he bragged about not paying taxes on a radio interview or something. Winning Survivor gave him a superiority complex.

Sheer arrogance plus good ol' fashioned stupidity - a lethal combination!!!

Richard Hatch Released from Prison
Dec 13, 2011
by Joyce Eng

First "Survivor" champ Richard Hatch has been released from a Rhode Island state prison after serving a nine-month term for failing to file his tax returns, The Associated Press reports.

Hatch was freed Monday, according to a state prison official. Hatch spent most of his sentence in federal prison, except for six weeks at a state minimum-security facility as a transition.

The reality star, who competed on "Celebrity Apprentice" last season, previously spent three years in prison after failing to pay taxes on the $1 million he won on the first season of "Survivor".

He was released in 2009, but jailed again in March for not re-filing his 2000 and 2001 taxes. Hatch later claimed he was "financially destitute."

Upon his release, Hatch, 50, maintained his innocence and said he was "happy" to be out of prison.
