I've met Rue 6 times, LOL! She's such a sweetheart. Who has everyone else met? I'm guessing a lot of people have met Bea (ie. after her show).

I met Rue once in Wilmington, NC when she was filming a TV movie with Shannen Doherty. She was nice to my sister and me when we went up to her, but I was a little disappointed because she wasn't as bubbly and outgoing as Blanche. I don't know if we caught her at a bad time or what, but she was just very subdued. However, I still love her and watching the show.

DanaForver, was that movie A Burning Passion: The Margaret Mitchell Story? That's one I actually haven't seen yet. You must have caught Rue on a bad day. Every time I've talked to her, she's been extremely personable, chatty and friendly--even when she was extremely exhausted, at 11:00 at night, after doing live performance. I honestly have to say she's one of the sweetest, most gracious people I've ever met. Too bad you caught her on an "off" day like that! Where did you see her?

Yes! It was the Margaret Mitchell story with Shannen Doherty as Margaret Mitchell. Yeah, I'm sorry I caught her on a bad day too because she is one of my favorite actresses. She was nice enough to give me an autograph and pose for some pictures though. I used to live in NC and was walking in dowtown Wilmington with my sister where they were filming the movie at an old house. We just walked by their trailers and saw Shannen Doherty (whom I really didn't care to talk to) and Rue. We just went right up to her with no problem. Where all have you seen Rue?

Rue is extremely approchable, in that you can walk right up to her and she's sweet as pie. :) But that's really too bad you caught her on a bad day like that. The first time I met her was last April when she was speaking at a breast cancer symposium in Towson, MD. Rue was the keynote speaker. I conjured up a lot of nerve and went up to her during the luncheon (she was at the VIP table up in front of the room) and introduced myself as her biggest fan, LOL! I gave her a card about my website that I had made and talked to her for about 7 or 8 min. Then after her speech, she went into another room and did a quick autograph signing, where we got a few photos. Then, this past July, Rue and her husband were starring in a play up in Cape Cod. I made a winning argument with my parents--"you love Cape Cod and I love Rue, so it's a win-win situation" (Haha!) and we flew up and stayed 5 days. Not knowing anything about the play, I got tickets for the show 3 nights in a row. The first night, my parents and I were the only people waiting for Rue after the show and we got to chat with her and her husband backstage for about a half an hour (I swear, that night was a gift from God). I also got to see her on the second night (there was only one other person who just came for a quick photo) and the third night (but there was a huge group of people waiting for her, so I just got my playbill signed and one last hug :) ) Anyway, since October she has been starring on Broadway in The Women. I went up to see that in October, and she had invited me to see her after the show, and I saw the play again a couple weeks ago (Dec. 15th) and we saw her after the show and chatted for a while (I have photos from all of these times on my website).

It's really interesting how Rue interacts with fans. I've seen her be much more reserved--probably much like she was with you and your sister. But even before she knew me, she was very chatty and personable. The first night in Cape Cod, she talked to my parents and I as if we were old friends (she didn't remember meeting me before). So I don't know if it's because I'm young and was always extremely enthusiastic, maybe she thought that was cute or something. Maybe she had finished up a long period of filming and was really tired or wasn't feeling well. Too bad, though, that you caught her on an "off" day like that. I guess it left a bit of a bittersweet taste in your mouth, probably, but I don't think that was the "real" Rue. :wink2:

I've actually never seen The Margaret Mitchell Story. It's not on video, and it's always on the Lifetime Movie Network, which we don't get. However, I'm sure one of these days I'll eventually find a way to get my hot little hands on a copy, LOL!

Katie,

I just checked out your Web site and really enjoyed it! You've done a great job with it. So did she like her Rue Crew mug? I think it's so great how enthusiastic you are! I noticed that you're from the MD/DC area. I am too, but on the VA side. Thanks for sharing your experiences meeting Rue.

Take care,
Courtney

Thanks, Courtney! :) Yes, Rue got a huge kick out of the mug. As a joke, for Christmas, one of my friends made me business card magnets... with a little pic of Rue, the site logo, my contact info and a small pic of me from the about me page. She gave me a whole stack of them, so I gave a magnet to Rue, too. I think she got an even bigger charge out of the magnet, because I told her how my friend made it, LOL! It was a lot of fun.
