View Full Version : News Flash: On Weekends, no more "I Dream of Jeannie" on TVLand
Rezny@gmail.com 03-09-2011, 12:33 AM Yes,you heard me right.TVLand,as of Saturday March 12,will replace "I Dream of Jeannie"on weekends, with CSI.Oh,well, they still have it on weekdays."I Dream of Jeannie",that is.Source:General sitcoms board on this website.
TV Knowledge Fan 03-09-2011, 04:48 AM ...business decision than a "news flash" {"Looks like Jeannie just isn't cutting it in the ratings. Okay, we'll throw a few extra episodes of "THE NANNY" on weekends instead. Or maybe some of our 'baby boomer' movies can fill the time. Our clients seem to like those better for selling stuff, anyway..."}. And, of course, TV Land has done this before, pulling "BEWITCHED" off their weekday schedule in favor of something more "recent" (like "THE NANNY"). In this case, CBS/VIACOM wants a little more "mileage" from their "CSI" inventory by "parking" them on TV Land's weekend schedule (which they also own).
This is one more reason why I DON'T watch "I DREAM OF JEANNIE" on TV Land. No respect!

treky 03-10-2011, 03:06 AM C.S.I????  What the HELL is that doing on TV LAND???
I mean, it's a good show (it's my favorite one; out of all 3 of the shows) but I wouldn't exactly call it right for them; it's more of a fit for SPIKE TV.
What's next for them, "CRIMINAL MINDS" or "N.C.I.S."????
Another reason not to watch them!!!
CAJeannieFan57 03-11-2011, 07:57 PM Can't be NCIS - reruns for that are currently on USA Channel. :-)

Let's face facts, TV Land as it was originally conceived of is dead. It's that simple. Like all basic channels (MTV, A&E, BRAVO, AMC, etc ), the original mission statement has been flushed down the toilet. Even if they dirty their hands with a classic series, the version they show has been cut to pieces to load more and more ads. What we need is a TCM for TV Series.
CAJeannieFan57 03-13-2011, 01:01 AM The way I understand it - - the original mission statement for a lot of our cable stations got smooshed by an FCC ruling. That ruling states that every station must show a certain percentage of original programming. So all the stations who relied on old shows, old documentaries, etc., had to come up with new material to show. USA Channel started as a rerun channel for movies and dramas. Now it has its own original shows. Same with Discovery, who started as a place for non-fiction documentaries. TV Land was right in there with the same issue, and the infernal TV Land Awards shows, bloopers, "10 Most...." shows were the start of it.
So don't blame the stations - blame the FCC!

yea, come to think of it; I heard that too; somewhere. Maybe it was on here.
Allright, so it's not entirley TV LANDs fault. But they still can show the "classics" some days, and not cut them up, have that split screen, etc. And none of this modern stuff like "C.S.I."!!!
And also the "retromercials" the funny promos and stuff.
