AFTER he left "The Andy Griffith Show"-Here are my favorites-1)1964's "The Incredible Mr.Limpet"(yes,TCM(Turner Classic Movies DID show it Today at 2 PM/1PM Central) 2)"The Reluctant Astronaut" and 3)1967's "The Shakiest Gun in the West".I also liked 1971's "How to Frame a Figg".As for 1965's "The Ghost and Mr.Chicken",it was okay, but sort of mean-spirited (especially when nobody in town would believe him, especially his so-called best friend(Dick Sargent-this was NOT one of his best performances(usually I like him in other stuff, but not here)in this one,Dick Sargent's character was too mean),and 1969's "The Love God?".What are your choices?Feel free to post.

"The Incredible Mr. Limpet" was my favorite; although his role in that one is
largely a voiceover part, he did a fantastic job. I liked all the others (except
"How to Frame a Figg" and "The Love God"). I also enjoyed his later pairings
with Tim Conway ("The Apple Dumpling Gang," "The Private Eyes" and "The
Prizefighter"). I also have to mention his very first movie, "No Time for
Sergeants," in which he worked with Andy Griffith for the first time.

The Reluctant Astronaut and The Incredible Mr. Limpit were my faves. There's something about Don Knotts that is really identifiable to kids, and that's what I was when I saw these two.

My fav is The Ghost and Mr. Chicken. And yes they treated him mean, I felt so sorry for him but I still get a kick out of that movie. I absolutely love The Apple Dumpling Gang. Tim and Don made a great pair.

Ironically, Don Knotts and Darren McGavin died within a day of each other
(Don, on Feb. 24, 2006; Darren, on Feb. 25, 2006).

I have most of his movies on DVD- The Reluctant Hero DVD pack has The Ghost And Mr Chicken, The Reluctant Astronaut, The Shakiest Gun In The West, and The Love God....I enjoy all of them. The Incredible Mr Limpet is a classic. My favorite Conway Knotts pairing is The Private Eyes.
