Ginnifer Goodwin has joined ABC's Once Upon a Time.

The Big Love actress will play Snow White/Sister Mary Margaret Blanchard in the one-hour drama pilot from ABC Studios.

The official logline for Once Upon a Time is as follows: "A young boy who purports to be her son shows up on her doorstep, Anna Swan is drawn into a town where the magic and mystery of fairytales may be real and hold the key to unlocking the mysteries of her troubled past."

Goodwin joins previously cast Lana Parrilla in the pilot.

Lost duo Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz penned the pilot and will serve as executive producers with Steve Pearlman (V). Mark Mylod (Entourage) will direct the episode.

Goodwin has starred on the big screen in Walk the Line, Mona Lisa Smile and He's Just Not That Into You, with the upcoming film Something Borrowed on tap.

I wouldn't really call that a "remake," more of a reboot. The original series was a comedy, not a drama. And (let's face it) a mediocre one at that, which is why it only had a short run.

Yeah- and with all of the SNow White movies planned, may as well have another try at a TV series.

Have to disagree with the "mediocre" assessment. I thought The Charmings was very funny and a real underrated gem.

It sounds a tiny bit similar but not much. Would be nice to see the series released on dvd for sure. I love it! Episode 1 was just put on youtube.

Shout Factory stated they had once looked into releasing the series but since the series is not remembered by enough people, they wouldn't be able to sell the amount of dvds needed for a release.

Hopefully someone else will decided to release.

looks pretty promising- I'll be tuning in. :) And, it premiered to great ratings- hopefully it won't drop off too much in coming weeks.

I've tuned into the first 3 episodes that have aired and really have been enjoying it. It just may be the new series on par with LOST that I've been looking for.

A neat little bit of trivia: The first episode of THE CHARMINGS features SAM ANDERSON as the psychiatrist, who also was BERNARD NADLER...one of the regular cast members on LOST.

I agree, I loved this show. I remember a critic at the time called it a cute and innovative show.

the review in the 1989 book, Harry and Wally's Favorite TV Shows? :) Because it pretty much says just that. I dug it up:

The Charmings deserves a lot of credit for taking a familiar concept and standing it on its head and then turning it inside out. The result is often silly, but the program is innovative enough and cute enough to be worth a watch.

The guys gave it **1/2 out of ****. Not bad.

I also remember some reviews saying similar things- that it was cute, harmless, etc.
