Rowdy grew up on reruns of the 1960s spy comedy, but its sequel series (http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?t=283120) falls painfully short.

Andy Dick's presence in the sequel series was enough to keep me away from it!

Andy Dick managed to take an amazingly bad show and push it over the line into stupendously horrible. :(
Nostalgia can only carry something so far....when are people ever going to learn that you can't haphazardly repackage something and expect it to live up to the original?
It didn't work with Beaver Cleaver still saying "Gee Whiz" as a divorced father of two....and it absolutely positively didn't work for The Bradys with Marcia as an alcoholic and Bobby confined to a wheelchair!

I read that the show was so bad that when Andy Dick realized that it wouldn't last, he signed on to do "NEWSRADIO".
I bought the DVD's of the series late last year and actually thought the shows were pretty good. I quite like Andy Dick and Elaine Hendrix.
The thing I didn't like was the soda machine gag with the woman in the opening titles.

I read that the show was so bad that when Andy Dick realized that it wouldn't last, he signed on to do "NEWSRADIO".
Then Andy mentioned at some big event that because he likes "NewsRadio" that he hopes "Get Smart" gets canceled.
I don't know if it's that he would not have been able to do both shows at once and he was obligated to be in "Get Smart" even though he preferred "NewsRadio". So if "Get Smart" came back for a second season or just more of the first season, he's be stuck with that show.
I know Andy Dick has his problems in real life but I think he's funny in these scripted shows (Get Smart, NewsRadio, Less Than Perfect). People bash him so much because of his personal issues but I don't think that his past work should be affected by that.
