Notably absent from the interviews list are Jennifer Salt, Rebecca Balding and- of course- Billy Crystal. Billy was hawking the "Soap" DVDs when he was on Letterman not too long ago, so he should have no trouble talking about "Soap." :)

Gregory Sierra's not on the interview list, either - dang it!!! :( On the upside, I'm glad they've gotten who they have so far, especially Jimmy Baio. :cool: When was the last time he was heard from?

Been some time for Mr. Baio- outside of some post-"Soap" TV guests shots, he kinda disappeared from the biuz, I guess. At least he has not hit the reality world like his cousin. hehe

Doris Roberts is another- although she had a very minor role, in just four episodes.

I e-mailed the author and inqured about some of the notable missing names.

Cool!! Hopefully they'll get more cast and crew members on board. I'm surprised Tony Thomas (as in Harris/Thomas/Witt) isn't on the list, either. :confused:

i was never a big fan of the show but with all the contrversey that the show caused during its run it should be interesting to read everybodys take on it

Right now, the books' planned for a December release (but we know that's always subject to change).

The author has a couple of interviews set up for this month (not discussing who yet, so not to jinx it). With some people, it's a matter of going through channels.

Not sure if the book will make it out before year's end, but the author is working diligently on it. He's spoken to all of the key cast members, behind-the-scenes people, etc.

Much looking forward to it.

I really liked what I saw so far, especially the bit they borrowed from the real Step Brothers when they went to rescue Billy from the compound. It would be great if they interviewed Thomas/Witt/Harris and Jimmy Baio.

It hasn't been canceled -- it's in the page design stage right now. When the economy took a nose dive, my wife and I (I wrote, she designed the book) had to scramble to make ends meet with a lot of freelance work that has made it difficult to get the book out in a timely manner. Rest assured it's still coming -- it's completely written and just needs to have its layout completed and be edited. It looks like it's going to come in at 350-400 pages, so hopefully people will find much in it that they didn't know about 'Soap.' -Aaron Berman

"Soap" fans are anxiously awaiting this labor of love. :)

Hi all. Just a quick note to say the book about the making of "Soap" went to the publisher on Dec. 1, and should be out somewhere around Dec. 17, give or take a few days. Also tweaked the name slightly to indicate it's not an "official" book, so it's now called: "Soap: The Unauthorized Inside Story of the Sitcom that Broke all the Rules." (I know. I'm still trying to figure out if "unauthorized" cancels out "Inside" too.)
