Watched the 1st 2 shows on on cbs on demand. I liked it,but if the other 2 keep fighting every show,it could get old fast. It looks like it has potential if they don't keep the same sort of show each week with them tryin to be alone and the others always bein there. It's funny now but seein that everyweek might not be.

Well, I'd better watch it again.

Despite the big names it employs, it's a horrible horrible show. It's terribly written and the girl from Scrubs - whatever her name is - is waaaaay too happy; no one smiles that much irl.

I know she's getting a paychck and gets to snuggle with Jason Bigss, but really!!!

Short-Lived Sitcom Potpourri (XXVIII) – 2010-2011 Couple Comedies (https://jacksonupperco.com/2025/08/27/short-lived-sitcom-potpourri-xxviii-2010-2011-couple-comedies/)

But the problem with Mad Love (https://web.archive.org/web/20140407134705/http://forums.televisionwithoutpity.com/topic/3202565-mad-love-no-no-no%e2%80%a6sarah-chalke-and-judy-greer-ugh-fine/?view=getnewpost) is that this setup needs stronger characters, particularly for the happy lovebirds, whose core difference from the battling secondary pair essentially renders them as relatively boring, while the supporting players with natural conflict are, duh, funnier. Obviously, more personal details that could help color story would have been beneficial here – and that’s the kind of stuff that’s discovered over time, of which the short-lived Mad Love never got. But I think there’s also a basic design flaw. Specifically, the couple that is madly in love needs to have inherent comedic/dramatic tension. That means there should be something making their pairing difficult, and ideally it should be related to their basic comic characterizations – i.e., they should be opposites. In contrast, the secondary pair, instead of being mismatched because they’re so unalike, maybe the reason they loathe each other is because they’re too alike.
