In the wake of recent comments made by series star Charlie Sheen — capped by a Thursday-morning tirade during a radio call-in — CBS and Warner Bros. TV have decided to shut down production on Two and a Half Men‘s eighth season.

Good.

Finally CBS grew a pair.

Sheen has no interest in cleaning up his act, and his blaming everyone else excuses have worn thin.

Good luck trying to earn sympathy with this one Charlie.

CBS and Warner Brothers did the right thing. Charlie Sheen is no condition to work. I only feel sorry for the rest of the cast and the crew who are out of work because of Charlie Sheen.

What Jerks!!! CBS cancelled the rest of the season beaucse of a few things Charlie said to TMZ! This is the #1 comedy on televison!!!! What Charlie does in his personal life has nothing to do with the work he puts in his show and the raitings it gets. You guys are really making a dumb move by suspending production this season!!!! i feel sorry for you guys, i really do!!! So all of a sudden the slate is wiped clean of beating his wife, trashing the plaza hotel, and his 36 hour bender that involved smocking a briefcase of coke and sleeping with a bunch of porn stars. After some things said to TMZ they call it off know.

Check this out... Charlie Sheen just wrote a sternly worded open letter -- which he's given to TMZ -- addressing the decision to shut down the production of "Two and a Half Men" for the rest of the season.

The letter reads:

What does this say about Haim Levine [Chuck Lorre] after he tried to use his words to judge and attempt to degrade me. I gracefully ignored this folly for 177 shows ... I fire back once and this contaminated little maggot can't handle my power and can't handle the truth. I wish him nothing but pain in his silly travels especially if they wind up in my octagon. Clearly I have defeated this earthworm with my words -- imagine what I would have done with my fire breathing fists. I urge all my beautiful and loyal fans who embraced this show for almost a decade to walk with me side-by-side as we march up the steps of justice to right this unconscionable wrong.

Remember these are my people ... not yours...we will continue on together...

A few things to TMZ? Exact quote was: "He's a stupid, stupid little man and a p**sy punk that I'd never want to be like. That's me being polite."

CBS has three shows with Lorre (Men, Bang, Molly), they have one show with Sheen (Men). I'm sure CBS is more than happy to go with Lorre on the decision to shut down production.

Sheen needs to clean up his act; he's a complete *******.

...now let's give Charlie a chance to "cool down", a decent period for rehabilitation, and to clean himself out, once and for all. So the series ends early this season...better it takes a "breather" now, than never to return at all{?}.

I remember what happened when Cindy Williams left "LAVERNE & SHIRLEY" in 1982 (she claimed she was fired). Garry Marshall's opinion was, "Penny can handle the show all by herself!". No, she couldn't- it was "Hardy" minus "Laurel", or "Abbott" without "Costello"....or, worse, "Ethel" sans "Lucy". The show ended the following season, a shell of its former self.

Charlie is the "spark" of 'TWO AND A HALF MEN"- for him to disappear permanently, is to virtually end the series. Let him come back next season- calm, cool, and less vitrolic. That's all.

Wow. These definitely seem like the words of a sober, sane man. Let's immediately re-open production!

I hope he gets canned and the show gets canceled. It would be terrible for the crew members who are, as mentioned above, living paycheck-to-paycheck, but it would set a precedent: that a network is willing to cancel the number one sitcom on television over the idiotic antics of its star.

Brad, I couldn't agree more. The crew don't live high on the hog like the actors do . If CBS actually does cancel the show for good, it would have a ripple effect on the business, a positive one - that they aren't going to put up with any more prima donna crap with their star, who is also an addict.

Charlie Sheen needs help ASAP. He's so arrogant. I'm glad that they shut down Two and Half Men for the rest of the season. I feel bad for the rest of the cast and crew. Charlie needs to be held responsible for his outrageous comments. The letter he wrote in response shows he out of his mind! He's snapped! http://whosright.com/poll/has-charlie-sheen-snapped

Charlie is nuts and deserves no sympathy but I'm sad for the show. Can't believe it might end without a proper finale after 177 episodes. Obviously the finale should have Alan & Jake move out. I guess the only way to give closure is if they can make it happen that Charlie & Chuck Lorre would not have to be on the set at the same time. :(

That's it, if Mr. Sheen is going to continue his erratic behaviour, CBS and WBTV may as well find a lookalike actor to replace Sheen and make season 9 of Two-Point-Five Men the final season of the series.

I only feel sorry for the rest of the cast and the crew who are out of work because of Charlie Sheen.

That reminds me ... back in 2000 on a Usenet message board pertaining to The Wonder Years I said something negative about the show Friends on NBC, and someone (who thinks Friends is stupid, by the way) said that was cruel and that the actors have to put food on the table. (Today I wish I had said "Let them work at McDonald's!" or similar!)

No other choice but to cancel the show since I'm sure the cast members no longer want to work with him since he stopped them from getting paid the remainder of this season.
