I was reading up on the show and saw that the girls were laid off twice by season 3. I'm just surprised they didn't write in another employer in the script who hires them because it's not realistic for someone to be laid off twice and still go back to the job.


They finally learn their lesson after their third and final layoff in the 79-80 season.

I don't think the third "layoff" could really be considered a layoff; their jobs were permanently replaced by automation, if I remember correctly. There would not be any bottle-capping to return to, so it was a 'permanent' job loss.

Anyway, maybe introducing another employer for Milwaukee would not have fit into the budget (logos need to be created, etc.) but of course the move to CA pretty much meant all-new everything -- so my preference would have been that the girls stay in Wisconsin and go on to other work there...
