If Charlie Sheen doesn't return to "Two and a Half Men," the show will end because the producers won't recast the role, according to a report on TMZ.com.

The story cites sources connected with the show, who say production will end immediately if producer Warner Bros. determines that Sheen is not coming back.

The report also cites ongoing conflict between Sheen and a number of key players in the production, including CBS, Warner Bros. and show creator Chuck Lorre.

Sheen has said he is ready to return to work and wants to get on with it, and he has expressed anger that Warner Bros. has killed four of the last eight episodes that were scheduled to be produced for this season.

The article notes that the show is scheduled to return to production Feb. 28, but it adds, “Everyone is braced for the worst.”

It really wouldn't surprise me. I figured that it's probably going to end within the next few years anyway beause once the kid becomes a teenager the show will have lost a lot of it's appeal. That's the problem with shows like this that have kids as the main focus; it can't last forever.

He's already 17, so it won't be long until he's an adult.

I hope Sheen gets his act together. This is the role of a lifetime for him and he should milk it for as long as he can.

The producers are wise to cancel the show if Sheen drops out, because if sitcom history has told us anything, is that it's nearly impossible to replace a lead actor on a successful, long-running show.

It's in its eighth season and has had a great run, so it won't be the end of the world if the show goes off the air. Though I will miss it.
