View Full Version : Your first car
Janice 02-15-2011, 09:38 PM My first car was a brown 72 Mustang Fastback. I saved my own money, and I was proud of myself. It was a few years old when I got it, but it was one cool car. Here's a picture of the same car. My car wasn't souped up like this, but this is close enough.

My Lexus looked pretty much like this, but it had silver on the bottom:

I'm sorry if I am being too nosey by asking this question, but why aren't you allowed to drive? What do you have?

no, you're not being too nosey.
I have a rare, progressive condition that causes graduel muscle weakness, mostly in the lower extremities. I've been evaluated over the years, and was told that I'll; sadly; never be able to.
didn't get any car yet but saving money to buy new model of swift.....
tiredmike59 03-09-2011, 01:11 AM my first car was a 1962 chevy headache.
i think i spent more time opening the hood then i did opening the drivers door.
that car always had its hand out. waterpump, radiator, heater core, starter, you name it, it got it. i didnt invest too much money though, i lived close to a junkyard, so my brother and me would do a little midnight shopping. always had a flashlight in the tool bag. one night i was in that junkyard by myself under a car trying to get some bolts off, and i noticed some feet walking up to me. i thought, " this is it, im busted now " then i hear a voice, " do you have a 9/16 deepwell i can borrow " what a relief, it was just another poacher. i only kept that car for a year, i ended up selling it to that same junkyard for 50 bucks.
Yooch 03-09-2011, 02:43 AM My first car was a beige 1963 Rambler American Station Wagon (a real chick magnet, if you know what I mean:lol: Not!!!). It was very good transportation for a while. It had a six cylinder engine with an enormous gas tank. I could go from the California Bay Area and not have to stop at a gas station until the San Fernando Valley--on the same tank. Once when going up the 'Grapevine', between Bakersfiled and the Mojave Desert, the thing overheated, steam coming out everywhere. I hobbled into a gas station off Hwy 5. My thermostat was rusted out and non-functioning. I had been using water instead of a coolant mixture. After charging me a ridiculous price for a new thermostat and radiator hose, I was back on the road again.
Later, there was a steering linkage problem. Every once and a while the car would go into convulsions with the steering wheel shaking violently. I finally sold the car for a whopping $125 in 1972. I had originally bought it for $325. In spite of its problems, I mostly have good memories of the car. I never did have to use it for a date. When I wanted to take a girl to a formal dance and dinner, my cousin said, Here use my car instead. His brand new white Ford Galaxy made a better impression than my old clunker.
YoliUSA 03-09-2011, 04:59 PM 2001 cyber green Volkswagen New Beetle. It is my first and only car since I still own it and drive it.
browneyes106 03-09-2011, 07:46 PM My first car was a white 2000 Hyundai Tiburon.
Fleet 03-11-2011, 04:57 AM My first car:
1966 Dodge Dart GT V-8.
I owned it a long time, 1979-2002. Over the years, I did some mods (modifications) to it... a Carter 500 cfm 4-bbl carburetor, shift kit for the automatic transmission, dual exhausts, electronic ignition, Holley aluminum intake manifold and 3.23 rear axle replacing the original 2.93s.
A fun car to drive, I recorded 40-60 mph in 4 seconds and 2nd gear was good up to 75 mph.
Here is a photo of it:
