Jeff Goldblum is such a good actor, why did he fail on Law & Order: Criminal Intent???

...he simply wanted out of the series. Perhaps he decided he really didn't want to do it...or maybe he had differences with the producers...or possibly because the series itself is "winding down" towards its final season, perhaps the producers wanted "what's-his-name" back to give the show a "special sendoff" {a final "climactic" episode, no doubt}.

In my opinion, Jeff did NOT "fail". He was damned good!!!

Thanks for your comments, perhaps you are right. I was just curious that such a great actor like Jeff Goldblum on an established hit like a law & order series didn't work out. :)

He's always been quirky actor... a matter of taste. Not everyone likes him. I LOVED his show "Raines" but it didn't last more than a season. I liked him on L&O:CI too. I think his biggest problem was that he just wasn't Vince D'Onofrio.

Though I would venture to say Vincent is quirky and an acquired taste also LOL!

True... but he's the original quirk on L&O:CI!

The season of CI where he was the star in all the episodes (the most recent), was the lowest rated season EVER for ANY of the L&O franchise series!

To most of the longtime CI fans, he just didn't fit the show. The show had Goren & Eames from the beginning. when they started altering episodes with Logan (Chris Noth), it took awhile to get used to him, but he was from the original Law & Order so at least it was a familiar character.
